Chapter 187: Forces [1200 GT Bonus]
Name: Chad’s Bomber Jacket
Rarity: Epic
Accepted Type: Linear; Branching; Resonant
Rejected Type: Recursive
Description: Not everyone has the time or patience to get jacked. You certainly have neither, but you do have an obnoxious amount of money to spend. Pair this item with the Chad Suit for added effect.
Abilities: +30 STR. -5 PER to enemies within five meters of you.
—
The moment Grey put on the bomber jacket over the Chad Suit, there was a sweeping change.
Not only did the Chad Suit shrink and fuse into the bomber jacket, making him look a lot less ridiculous. But…

Name: Chad’s Bomber Jacket
Rarity: Epic (PAIRED)
Accepted Type: Linear; Branching; Resonant
Rejected Type: Recursive
Description: Not everyone has the time or patience to get jacked. You certainly have neither, but you do have an obnoxious amount of money to spend. Pair this item with the Chad Suit for added effect.
Abilities: +40 STR; +20 END. -15 PER to enemies within five meters of you. -15 STR to enemies within five meters of you.
—
Alone, Chad’s Bomber Jacket was a pretty underwhelming Epic item. But with Chad’s Suit, it inched a lot closer to a Legendary item.
But Grey was far from done with that alone.

Name: Textualized Skin Suit
Rarity: Epic
Accepted Type: Linear; Branching; Resonant
Rejected Type: Recursive
Description: A second skin, a second peace of mind. Slip this material under your clothes and over your flesh to feel the warmth and coziness of a duvet on a cool winter’s night. Keep your temperature regulated and weather greater storms.
Abilities: +40 END
—
The suit almost looked like a Nexis Suit. It fit over the entire body, only leaving his neck and hands exposed. Even his feet had been covered up, nicely replacing the need for socks, but made him worry about his ability to take a tactical shit when necessary.
For now, he could only push down what would inevitably become the horror of needing to take a dump because it was too useful.
With his Helion Body, without this item, he would have to constantly worry about burning his own treasures and items to a crisp. The Fang Daggers could definitely handle it as Legendary treasures, but everything else? He wasn’t so sure.
While the Abilities seemed to highlight the added END as the main event, to Grey, temperature regulation was actually at the top of his list.
This way, even if he became a human inferno, his treasures should probably survive.
Of course, the added END was definitely nice.

Name: Bottomless Cargo Pants
Rarity: Epic
Accepted Type: Linear; Branching; Resonant
Restricted Type: Recursive
Description: Bottomless bottoms, bottoms up. These pants are stylish, to be sure. What could be more drippy than functionality? You’ll never run out of pockets or energy. Store energy units within your pockets for short boosts of SPD or INT.
Abilities: Each pocket of the Bottomless Cargo Pants can store 100 Units of Energy for a total of 1000. Each 10 Energy Units for a 1-second, 1-stat-point boost to either SPD or INT.
—
The cargo pants were pitch black and tapered pretty aggressively, almost like hammer pants. There were four pockets to the outside of each leg, and then two back pockets.
Honestly, Grey had picked them out because it was about time he had pants that weren’t either non-existent or mass produced for worthless squires. He just thought the pants looked pretty badass, so he wanted them.
But their actual abilities weren’t bad.
He definitely only felt that way because he was rich now. The pants were definitely called bottomless for a reason. They were a huge wealth sink.
Filling up the pants just one time cost 10,000 Credits as each 100 energy unit Proving Class Cyber Core cost 1,000. If you were in a particularly tough battle, you would probably burn through that in a single go.
Of course, that didn’t stop Grey from buying up two million credits worth of Cyber Cores, topping himself up with 100,000 energy units just in case.
Did he actually need that many? No.
Was the reason he only got 100,000 instead of 200,000 despite spending two million credits because his inventory apparently needed a guzzling amount of energy just to store that many Cyber Cores?
Maybe…
But what was the point of being rich if you couldn’t swing your dick around?
He would complain about his inventory’s fine print another time. Though, it probably made sense that if it cost energy to build his hidden spaces, then actually storing that energy itself would probably take more.
The last thing Grey needed was shoes.
And the moment he saw them, he almost erupted with laughter.
—
Name: Shadow Forces
Rarity: Epic
Accepted Type: Linear; Branching
Rejected Type: Recursive; Resonant
Description: Dance of the madmen, howls of the free. These shoes are not to be worn by the weak and faint of heart, they will eat you alive. But should you be able to keep your mind clear and your chest light, the glowing lane at the end of the tunnel will lead you to curb stomping catharsis.
Abilities: Shadow Retrace. Leave trails of shadow steps in your wake and return to them at the cost of 1 Stamina per Retraced Step or meter traversed.
—
These shoes were basically a more complicated form of teleportation. When you put them on, they left a trail of fog in your wake. Invisible shoe prints of darkness would be imprinted and then slowly fade over time.
Depending on your level of control, you could make these shadow steps disappear faster or slower. But what made these shoes so powerful was the ability Shadow Retrace.
Essentially, so long as those shadow prints hadn’t disappeared or been made to disappear by their wearer, the user could instantly return to wherever they had taken those steps.
Basically, it was instant teleportation. More complicated? Sure. But teleportation nonetheless.
There was no way something like this wouldn’t be endlessly useful in battle. But Grey didn’t give a damn about any of that.
He held the shoes up, grinning ear to ear.
“There’s no way Nike greenlit this. You fuckers messed around and gave me black air forces, it’s over for you.”
Grey slipped them on, black shadows erupting from his feet.
