Tribulation of Myriad Races - Chapter 2065: Digging Is Fun (1)

Chapter 2065: Digging Is Fun (1)
Just a tiny hole.
Su Yu kept telling himself that. In any case, he was also worried that he wouldn’t be able to handle a bigger hole. Just look at the hole Human Emperor dug. It was big and powerful enough that not even Venerables could move through it safely. How dangerous.
After entering the River of Time, Su Yu started flying straight ahead. Wan Tiansheng and the others would be managing the myriad daos outside the river. Thus, he could only rely on himself here. Or to be precise, he would be relying on Xing Yu’s token.
One ought to admit that at present, Xing Yu’s token was far more useful for Su Yu than the Book of Time. Many of the things he had done lately wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Xing Yu’s token. This was all thanks to Xing Yue.
He doubted he could even enter the Upper Realm without Xing Yu’s token.
Xing Yue…
Suddenly, Su Yu thought of Xing Yue. Perhaps she really didn’t care about Xing Yu’s token. Or perhaps she had merely forgotten about its importance to her. But Su Yu wouldn’t forget her.
That was a death sovereign he had known since his early days in the Allheaven Battlefield. Even now, she was still keeping a low profile, hiding inside her castle all the time. She would rarely leave her castle. One could say that she was a true shut-in. She could probably spend tens of thousands of years without stepping outside once.
While thinking about all that, Su Yu continued resisting the pressure of the river with Xing Yu’s token. Thanks to the token, he was able to traverse far into the River of Time even as a mere Sunmoon.
After an indeterminate amount of time, when he nearly went beyond the pen dao, he finally sensed the presence of the celestial chasm dao. Shortly after, a relatively large tributary appeared before his eyes.
After a short observation, Su Yu concluded that this was the celestial chasm dao. It didn’t seem too powerful. In fact, it was much smaller than the pen dao. It was also weaker than the heavenly desolate beast dao and Martial Emperor’s dao.
“Looks like their Pseudo Emperor isn’t anything special.”
Su Yu decided to dig his hole here, but before that, he had to pick an exact location. It would be awkward if he missed the Celestial Chasm Realm by a bit after digging a hole through the river.
After a short estimation, Su Yu descended near the tributary. Under him, the river water flowed violently. The so-called water was essentially the powers of the myriad daos, constantly flowing into the various tributaries to provide them with an unending supply of power.
Generally, even Venerables wouldn’t focus on more than one dao. Anyone could die shortly after sinking to the bottom of the river. After all, the main river itself contained the powers of too many daos, such as erosion, numerous offensive daos, and numerous killing daos. Very few people could survive all these powers for long.
“I wonder how long Xing Yu’s token can suppress these powers.”
Su Yu was unsure. He had never tried to suppress the river for an extended period of time. The hole wouldn’t be easy to dig. After all, the River of Time wasn’t so weak that one could so easily dig through it. It would have been riddled with holes long ago if it were so fragile.
“Down!”
Su Yu wasted no time and started suppressing the river. With a roar, Xing Yu’s token began to shine brightly. The flow of the river stopped for a split second, and during that split second, Su Yu dove into the river with Xing Yu’s token acting as a barrier around him.
However, the currents were too strong, making it hard for him to stabilize himself. He couldn’t allow himself to be washed off by the currents as that would make it hard for him to accurately dig a hole into the Celestial Chasm Realm.
Inside his sea of willpower, the Book of Time shook slightly. Inside the Mark of Civilization, the dao painting started shining. Human Emperor’s dao painting, Time Sage’s Book of Time, Xing Yu’s token…
All these treasures were showcasing their incredible prowess. Even with their help, Su Yu felt greatly pressured. He could sense the various dao powers in the currents around him. He continued sinking. After an indeterminate amount of time, he reached the bottom.
He looked down, his eyes flickering. This was his first time seeing how the bottom of the River of Time looked like.
It was a barrier.
What was the barrier made of?
“Chaos.”
Su Yu muttered to himself. Yes. The barrier was made of chaos.
Chaos power, to be precise. At the very bottom of the river, the myriad daos had combined and returned to chaos.
“I see. With chaos as the carrier for the river itself. Chaos on the outside, myriad daos on the inside. Impressive.”
Su Yu gasped with admiration. This had given him many ideas. He threw a punch at the barrier. It remained unaffected. It was as though he hadn’t done anything to it. The punch wasn’t able to create as much as a ripple.
“Brute force doesn’t work here…”
Su Yu frowned. Shortly after, a certain understanding dawned on him as he cursed, “Damn it!”
He understood now.
Digging a hole here couldn’t be done with brute force. Rather, one needed to reorder the chaos power to tear open a hole there. This required a deep understanding on the chaos dao as well.
“So you need to comprehend the dao just to dig a hole here.”
Chaos was essentially the cover of the river. Su Yu needed to understand the chaos, introduce order, and remove some of the chaos threads making up the barrier to create a hole. He couldn’t help but think of Human Emperor again.
Human Emperor had dug such a big hole, but it wasn’t done through brute force. Rather, Human Emperor had relied on his incredible dao comprehension.
“Amazing!”
Once again, Su Yu praised with admiration. That couldn’t have been an easy task. As far as Su Yu knew, in this epoch, Wan Tiansheng, Lan Tian, and he were the only ones who could possibly do this. Nobody else could succeed as everyone else did not know enough about the myriad daos and the chaos dao.
“Can Hundred Battle King do it?”
Nobody could say for sure.
This wasn’t a task one could complete with brawn. Rather, one needed to use one’s brain. Only cultured people could do this. Once again, Su Yu sighed with pity. Poor brutes. They weren’t even good for digging a hole.
“Studying the chaos dao…Fortunately, I studied the chaos recently. Perhaps I could really do this.”
He had spent the past half a month in research with the death spirits, Lan Tian, and the others. He would have been completely helpless here before that research session.
“This isn’t a bad thing. I’ll consider this a test run before my dao pioneering. If I can’t even order the chaos here, I should forget about dao pioneering.”
The myriad daos were akin to a machine. If he couldn’t even take the machine apart, he wouldn’t be able to build a new machine either. The chaos dao was the combination of the myriad daos. He had to first take the chaos dao apart before creating something new.
He crouched down, ignoring the fierce torrents around him. Both the Mark of Civilization and Xing Yu’s token were floating around him, suppressing and calming his immediate surroundings. This should keep him stable for now.
“Chaos barrier. I need to find my first thread to start unraveling it.”
Su Yu looked at the smooth barrier with a troubled expression. How was he supposed to find the first thread?
“How should I do this? Let’s start with the five elements.”
At that, a clump of fire appeared in his hand. As the fire grew, the dao of fire started surging from the barrier. Su Yu had a thoughtful look as that happened. No dao could be broken easily with brute force alone.
“I can only counter dao with dao. Fire and water are incompatible. Wood begets fire. I can grow the fire dao with the wood dao before breaking it with the water dao and severing the thread of the fire dao.”
Numerous thoughts appeared in Su Yu’s mind. After causing a reaction from the fire dao, he activated his wood character. With the wood dao, he stoked the fire dao. Slowly, the fire dao emerged from the barrier.
Sure enough, dao comprehension was necessary for this. Brute force wouldn’t work. Next, the water dao appeared. It fell upon the fire dao. Hissing sounds rang out as the two daos came into contact, but the water dao was destroyed right after that.
“This isn’t working. I’m too weak.”
Su Yu was troubled. His dao was too weak to threaten the barrier. At this rate, he would need to take a long time, slowly grinding a hole through the barrier. How long would it take?
“Looks like I still need to borrow from some external power.”
Next, the Mark of Civilization flipped open, revealing a page containing the water dao. Su Yu connected with the fake water dao. At the same time, another water dao emerged from the Book of Time. Instantly, Su Yu’s water dao increased in strength. He directed the newly strengthened water dao toward the fire dao again.
Hissing sounds rang out.
This time, the water dao was working much better than before. But it still required a long time to actually sever the thread of fire dao. Su Yu was not too bothered. This was also a chance for him to deepen his comprehension of the myriad daos. One could consider this a preliminary test before his dao pioneering.
“If I can’t even dig a hole through this barrier, I can stop dreaming about pioneering my own dao. This is basically a mid-term test. Failing this will signify that I’m not even qualified to attempt the final test.”
Su Yu started grinding the fire dao down with patience. Torrential torrents continued rushing onto him, while the shining Xing Yu’s token continued protecting him from the pressure. But the token was slowly dimming.
It was rapidly being drained of power.
