Tribulation of Myriad Races - Chapter 2066: Digging Is Fun (2)

Chapter 2066: Digging Is Fun (2)
At the same time.
Deep inside the River of Time.
A figure appeared and turned around to gaze into the distance.
“Xing Yu’s token…”
He sensed the presence of Xing Yu’s token somewhere in the river. Perhaps it was somewhere in the future. The past was upstream while the future was downstream. Somewhere in the future, someone was suppressing the river with Xing Yu’s token. What was that person doing? The figure could sense the rapid drain of the token’s power.
“Did Xing Yue gift the token away?”
The figure frowned. Why did the holder of the token stop at one place for so long?
How odd.
As of late, too many weird things had happened. He still remembered how a strange fellow had rejected his inheritance not long ago.
Just then, someone arrived beside him. The exhausted newcomer said, “Your Majesty, they are attacking again. Our people are having a hard time holding on.”
The figure trembled slightly and said, “Stop them!”
“Your Majesty!” The newcomer suggested, “Perhaps it’s time for us to pull back.”
“We can’t!” The figure said, “If we keep pulling back, we will return to the Myriad Realms. We no longer have any space to pull back. The situation in the Myriad Realms remains the same. Nobody has managed to break the seal to become a Master of Law. If we pull back now, humanity will lose.”
“Your Majesty! Perhaps Culture King and the others have returned…”
“Impossible!” The figure said, “If they were back, they would have arrived to help us long ago. Heed my command. Send our entire army over. Just what are the humans of the Myriad Realms doing?”
His final sentence was spoken so softly it might as well be a whisper. But it was clear he was cursing the humans outside. How many years had it been? Had humanity not produced even one reliable powerhouse after so many years?
Not even one?
He had left a large number of contingencies behind.
If the humans out there could produce even one reliable powerhouse, they would have defeated the myriad races long ago. Upon conquering the Myriad Realms, they should be able to produce a few Masters of Laws, right?
After so many years, they should have produced ten or so Masters of Laws. That would be helpful when he was forced to return with their enemies. But no. Even after so many years, humanity had yet to even break the seal. What did that signify? Not a single Master of Law had been produced.
Fuck!
The figure cursed endlessly. Humanity was filled with trash! Was this truly the end of humanity? Just what in the world had humanity been doing?
The more he thought about it, the more furious he was. He roared, “Deploy everyone we have. Do not take a single step back. We can no longer afford to retreat.”
“Yes!”
Numerous roars rang out as a battle erupted far away.
Numerous gigantic daos lashed at each other atop the river, creating numerous waves on the river. Alone, the figure suppressed the waves, keeping the river calm. He couldn’t allow the waves to spread as these gigantic waves could be disastrous if they were allowed to spread to the future.
Far away, a cold voice rang out, “Looks like the Myriad Realms have yet to produce a Master of Law. Human Emperor, your plan has failed.”
“It won’t be long before we’re back at the correct timeline.”
“The day we return, humanity’s decline will begin. Human Emperor, this is the end of the road for you.”
The grand voice spread everywhere.
It was cold and filled with ridicule.
So what if they were blocked here for countless years?
Without Human Emperor and his subordinates, the human race would be nothing. Upon their return, the seal would be broken. And the moment the seal was broken, the myriad races would produce a decent number of Masters of Law. They could already sense it. They could sense the surging fortune of the myriad races.
The figure ignored the voice.
But inwardly, he was cursing endlessly. What the fuck was humanity doing? The more he thought about it, the more sorrowful he felt. Had humanity failed to produce even a single genius after so many years? That was too sad.
Suddenly, his heart thumped as he looked behind again. Nobody had advanced into a Master of Law, but something seemed to be happening near Xing Yu’s token.
Something…felt off.
What was it?
He was too far away, so he couldn’t determine what was happening. So be it. Nothing mattered as long as it wasn’t a Master of Law. Had humanity really been abandoned by the heavens?

At the same time.
At the bottom of the river.
A grinding session was ongoing.
After an indeterminate amount of time, a crack rang out. The protruding fire dao finally snapped.
Su Yu was already sweating all over. He was happy to see that, but he was also feeling quite helpless.
Holy shit!
A single dao was enough to tire him so much. This was such a difficult task. He had underestimated the difficulty of this task. Just how long would this take?
“Well, I don’t really need to break every single dao. I only need to break a few big ones, weaken the foundation, and the river can do the rest.”
At that thought, Su Yu gnashed his teeth and said, “With the fire dao gone, the other four elements will be unstable. In that case, I’ll first focus on the five elements.”
Just then, a stream of water formed purely of the fire dao split from the river and shot toward Su Yu. Before Su Yu could react, the stream vanished through the little opening left by the snapped thread.
Su Yu’s heart thumped. He could sense the complete disappearance of the power of fire.
“Where to? Did it…enter the Celestial Chasm Realm?”
***
At that exact moment.
Celestial Chasm Realm.
Everyone was waiting in silence.
After an unknown amount of time, the sky transformed into a sea of flames.
It was as though the world was ending. The flames burned everything, including the death qi in the air. Lan Tian’s expression changed. These flames were too powerful.
Wan Tiansheng’s expression changed as well. He roared, “Fire elementals, go! Absorb the flames! Fire cultivators, step forth as well! Absorb the fire!”
At that command, the fire cultivators shot into the sky. The flames in the sky were so intense even these fire cultivators were alarmed. Despite their effort, the flames continued spreading. Once again, Wan Tiansheng’s expression changed. This wouldn’t work. They didn’t have enough fire cultivators.
Desperate, he flicked a page, releasing tens of thousands of fire elementals. Some were weak and some were strong. These pages had been left behind by Su Yu as he didn’t intend to take everyone to the river.
“Fire elementals, absorb the flames! Lan Tian, suppress the intensity of the flames! The rest of us will be doing the same!”
Order after order was given by Wan Tiansheng. At the same time, his voice rang out inside the other pages, “Are there any fire cultivators among you? Step forth if you’re one!”
There were only a small number of Eternal fire cultivators among them. This was far from enough to deal with the raging flames in the sky. After asking that question, Wan Tiansheng looked up solemnly.
What happened?
Why was there only a single dao in the sky? The imbalance was too much for them to handle. At this rate, the entire Celestial Chasm Realm would be scorched. The fire cultivators continued working hard, trying their very best to absorb the flames from the sky.
It was as though the heavens were providing them with free dao power. But the free dao power was too much for them to digest. They would all burst apart before they could even make a dent to the raging flames in the sky.
Initially, the Fire Ancestor was happily absorbing the flames in the sky. But before long, his joy turned into panic. He hurriedly looked at Topsoil Spirit and said, “This is too much for us to digest!”
The greatest joy in life was to absorb an endless amount of dao power. But the greatest pain in life was the same. The amount of dao power here was enough to kill them. Even Topsoil Spirit was trembling. There was too much!
Even now, an endless stream of flames was still falling from the sky. Just what was Su Yu doing? Why was he focusing only on fire? The imbalance was too much. Only a small number of them could partake in this while the rest could only watch helplessly.
Just then, a large amount of water emerged from the sky. Once again, Wan Tiansheng’s expression changed. What the fuck was going on? Wasn’t Su Yu supposed to be digging a small hole?
Why was the power imbalance so great? Yes, the powers in the sky were very pure and good for cultivation. But they were too pure. Only a small number of people could make use of them. Fortunately, there were quite a lot of five elementals among them.
He roared again, “Lan Tian, scatter the powers of fire and water. Water elementals, absorb the water. Water cultivators, help!”
Up in the sky, Lan Tian cursed, “And what about you? Do you think I’m god? How am I supposed to do this alone?”
He was losing his mind. Why was he assigned to do everything? Tiansheng was not adorable anymore! Couldn’t Tiansheng see that he was already very busy? Wan Tiansheng was feeling gloomy as well, but he had no choice. Among the people here, only Lan Tian and he could handle the separation of different daos.
Suddenly, Wan Tiansheng thought of something and shouted, “Cloud Fire Marquis, are you dead? What are you waiting for? Get over there and start absorbing the flames!” He had always been quite courteous toward these seniors, but suddenly, he recalled that Cloud Fire Marquis was a fire cultivator as well.
Where was that guy?
At that, Cloud Fire Marquis’ projection spoke helplessly, “We don’t even have our bodies anymore. These powers are too intense for us to absorb. Fellow Daoist Lan Tian, can you dilute these powers slightly to make them more gentle for us?”
Fuck!
Lan Tian cursed again. Were they treating him as a filter?
Even so, he did as told and started diluting the power of fire.
Seeing that, Wan Tiansheng’s eyes lit up as he said, “Lan Tian, go higher and block the hole. Act as a dam and control the flow of power!”
Lan Tian was too useful!
Lan Tian raged, “If you want me dead, just say it. What are you taking me for?”
“Stop wasting time. Are you doing it or not?” Wan Tiansheng raged as well, “Who else can do this if not you? There are a lot of people here, but most are useless. The capable will always have more to do. Don’t you know that?”
“…”
