Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System - Chapter 115: Easy Peasy Fourth Wave

Chapter 115: Easy Peasy Fourth Wave
Meanwhile, Sana, Kavya, and Ayesha couldn’t take their eyes off Vikram for even a second. They watched the battle with shining eyes, feeling an odd sense of pride, as if Vikram’s achievements were their own.
The moment the Guardian Druid split the Apex Hulking in half with its shield, it became the most satisfying sight for them. Their hearts swelled with excitement and admiration.
Carol, on the other hand, was busy capturing everything. She was taking videos and pictures from an unknown device, Vikram had no idea where she had pulled the camera from.
While observing, she mentally noted every detail. The Archer Sprouts had also impressed her, though compared to the overwhelming power of the Guardian and Warrior Druids, they still looked like kids in comparison.
After the Screamers were dealt with, the Guardian Druid turned its attention to the Armored Zombies, toying with them almost playfully. Meanwhile, the two Archer Sprouts shifted their focus to the Berserker Zombies. It was slightly harder for them, but they had infinite arrows, so they didn’t worry at all.
If one arrow didn’t kill it, they would fire ten.
If ten weren’t enough, they would fire a hundred.
They kept raining thorn arrows relentlessly until their targets finally collapsed.
—
The Guardian Druid stared down at the half-alive upper torso of the Hulking. Even though it was cut in two, the monster kept clawing desperately at him.
The Guardian Druid didn’t care.
“Wawawawa! Wawawa!” he shouted angrily while climbing onto the Hulking’s chest, as if mocking the giant zombie right back.
Then, he raised his shield again and began hammering the sharp edge into the Hulking’s throat with brutal force.
The Hulking could do nothing but roar helplessly as its throat was slowly severed under the repeated strikes.
“SHHHK… CRUNCH… SHHHHK!”
Finally, the head separated completely from the body. The Apex Hulking was dead.
But the Guardian Druid’s anger still hadn’t faded. He continued smashing the separated head with his shield until it turned into nothing but blood and mush.
By then, all the remaining Elite Zombies had also been eliminated. The four sprouts calmly jumped back onto the wall and returned to Vikram’s side.
“Let me heal you,” Sana said immediately, noticing the deep claw marks across the Guardian Druid’s stomach.
“Don’t worry,” Vikram replied with a smile. “Healer will take care of it.”
“Healer?” Sana asked, confused.
The next moment, the Healer Sprout appeared in a soft burst of green light. It gently placed its small hands on the Guardian Druid’s wounds and began healing them with a warm, glowing energy.
While patting the Guardian Druid’s back, the sprout helped calm its lingering anger.
Vikram, seeing the Guardian Druid’s rage for the first time, gently patted its head. Today, he realized something important, his Plant Sprouts weren’t just tools. They had their own emotions. And if someone mocked them, especially the Guardian Druid, they could become truly angry.
Feeling Vikram’s hand on its head, the Guardian Druid’s expression softened into a pleasant, satisfied smile.
“Wa~” it sighed happily.
The Warrior Druid immediately appeared beside him and pointed at its own head, demanding the same treatment. Vikram chuckled and patted it too. Soon, both Archer Sprouts also arrived and pointed at their heads. Vikram patted all of them one by one.
While he was affectionately playing with his Plant Team, Vikram noticed someone staring at him strangely.
He turned and saw both Kavya and Sana looking at him with odd expressions.
“What happened?” he asked.
“Did your Healer Sprout… can it also heal and boost stamina?” they asked almost in unison.
“Yes,” Vikram replied simply.
The moment he answered, tears started forming in both girls’ eyes.
“What happened?” Vikram asked again, confused.
Isha arrived at that moment and gave them a stern look.
Both girls quickly wiped their eyes and fell silent, remembering they were still on the wall where many people could see them.
Vikram still didn’t understand why they were about to cry.
Isha smiled softly and explained, “Because your Healer Sprout can heal and boost stamina, they both felt useless. After all, they are the ’angels’ of our team.”
Hearing that, Vikram understood immediately. He gently pacified them, saying, “Don’t worry. I won’t take away your roles. You both are still very important.”
Meanwhile, Carol made another mental note.
’First a Warrior, then a Defender, then Rangers, and now even a Healer… It looks like Vikram already has his own complete team.’
Now, everyone on the wall was highly interested in the upcoming waves and how Vikram would handle them.
—
As 8:30 pm passed, the portals stabilized once again, and zombies began pouring out in even greater numbers.
This time it was 1000 normal zombies and 100 Elite Zombies, a dangerous mix of Berserkers, Armored, Fog Spreaders, Leapers, and Screamers. At the very end, two Apex Zombies emerged: one massive Colossus and the deadly Plague Bringer.
Vikram immediately recognized the Plague Bringer’s weakness to fire. Without hesitation, he signaled the Fire Mage Sprout.
The Fire Mage Sprout nodded and jumped down from the wall together with the Guardian Druid and Warrior Druid.
Once on the ground, the Warrior Druid quickly shared its plan with the Guardian Druid. The Guardian Druid nodded in agreement.
First, both druids focused on clearing the 1000 normal zombies. Using their vines, shields, and blades, they tore through the horde with terrifying efficiency. At the same time, the two Archer Sprouts prioritized the fast-moving Leaper Zombies, picking them off one by one with precise thorn arrows.
The Fire Mage Sprout moved closer to the Plague Bringer but didn’t attack immediately. Instead, it waited patiently while keeping a sharp eye on the Colossus, ready to stop it if it tried to interfere.
It didn’t have to wait long.
In just around ten minutes, like a well-practiced exercise, all the normal zombies and Elite Zombies were completely wiped out. Only the two Apex Zombies remained standing on the battlefield.
The Guardian Druid signaled the Archer Sprouts and moved toward the Colossus. Seeing their teammate in position, the Fire Mage Sprout finally took a fighting stance. It pointed its finger at the Plague Bringer like a gun and invited it to come forward.
The Plague Bringer roared furiously and charged toward the Fire Mage Sprout.
The Fire Mage Sprout responded instantly, it formed a finger-gun gesture and fired a rapid burst of blazing fire bullets. The scorching projectiles struck the Plague Bringer’s swollen sac, igniting it instantly and spreading flames across its body.
—
On the wall, Pooja walked over to Isha with wide eyes and asked in disbelief, “Captain… am I dreaming?”
“No,” Isha replied calmly.
“So… everything we’re seeing is really happening?” Pooja asked again.
“Yes,” Isha answered with complete seriousness.
“Damn it, Captain,” Pooja said, her voice filled with shock. “Did Vikram awaken an S-rank ability? Or an SS-rank? Or… one of those ultra-rare SSS-rank abilities that only appear once every ten years?”
Even Isha fell silent for a moment, seriously considering the question. Everything she had seen so far was already shocking, but the Fire Mage Sprout had completely shattered every expectation they had.
Meanwhile, Ayesha leaned close to Sana and Kavya and whispered teasingly,
“See? Vikram even has a Fire-type plant now. You don’t have to worry anymore about your jobs being snatched.”
“But now we have to worry about Vikram himself getting snatched,” Sana muttered back. “He’s turning into a one-man army.”
Hearing that, both Sana and Kavya became instantly alert. Their eyes shifted toward Carol, who was standing not far away.
Meanwhile, Carol had already pulled out her communication device after seeing the Fire Mage Sprout in action. She spoke quickly into it, “Captain, it looks like I’ve found a treasure.”
“What treasure?” came the voice from the other side.
“Captain, it’s the child of that SS-rank awakener, who remained unawakened until now.” Although the SS-rank awakener was her relative, but due to some past misgiving, they didn’t took his name directly.
“Are you talking about Vikram?” The person asked, he didn’t needs to even guess, who she was talking, because for them, only one child matters.
“Yes, Captain. He awakened just yesterday. It’s a summoning-type ability… but it looks like he has awakened an SSS-rank summoning ability.”
“What?!” The person on the other end was clearly shocked. There was a sound of hurried movement before the voice continued, “Don’t worry. I’m coming there as fast as possible.”
“Yes, Captain,” Carol replied with a satisfied nod.
“Who are you talking to?” Isha asked as she suddenly appeared beside Carol.
“Nothing important,” Carol replied smoothly, though a faint trace of guilt flashed in her golden eyes. “Just a private conversation.”
Isha narrowed her eyes. “I know you’re talking to that stupid old man, trying to poach my Vikram. But remember this clearly, I will not let you take him away.”
“That’s exactly why I didn’t want to call you,” Carol muttered under her breath.
Isha didn’t reply. She simply turned and walked back to Vikram’s side, her expression softening the moment she looked at him. Without warning, she pulled him into a gentle but firm hug from behind.
“What happened, Aunt?” Vikram asked, slightly surprised. He was completely unaware of the conversation that had just taken place behind his back, his full attention still fixed on the battlefield where his sprouts were fighting.
“Nothing,” Isha said softly, gently rubbing his hair. In her heart, she made a silent promise: ’Tonight, I’ll take extra care of him.’
—
On the battlefield, the Fire Mage Sprout continued unleashing a steady stream of blazing fire bullets directly at the Plague Bringer’s swollen sac. The toxic monster roared helplessly as flames engulfed its body, slowly burning it alive from the inside. It had no chance to fight back or spread its deadly mist.
On the other side, the massive Colossus was roaring in pure rage, swinging its enormous arms wildly and smashing the ground.
Just minutes earlier, when the Guardian Druid had boldly stepped in front of the Colossus, the giant zombie had been stunned. It couldn’t understand how such a tiny, non-human creature dared to face it directly. It let out a thunderous roar of anger.
In response, the Guardian Druid simply slammed its shield straight into the Colossus’s face, making the giant stagger and become dizzy.
Before the Colossus could recover, two thorn arrows from the Archer Sprouts pierced its eyes, instantly blinding it.
Now completely disoriented, the Colossus roared furiously, swinging its arms blindly and smashing everything in its path.
Meanwhile, the Warrior Druid had circled behind it. Using its stretching arm like a whip, it repeatedly struck the same spot on the Colossus’s legs with powerful blows. At first, it was difficult to even scratch the thick armor, but with continuous attacks, the damage started to show.
“CRACK!”
One of the Colossus’s massive legs was finally severed. With a heavy thud, the giant crashed to the ground.
The Guardian and Warrior Druids didn’t give it even a second to recover. They attacked relentlessly. Whenever the Colossus tried to regenerate its eyes, the Guardian Druid would smash them again with its shield or blade.
The Apex-level Colossus, which should have been a nightmare for any defense team, died like a helpless child in the hands of the two druids.
At almost the same moment, the Plague Bringer finally burned to ash under the Fire Mage Sprout’s continuous flames. From beginning to end, it never had even the slightest chance to turn the battle around.
And just like that, the fourth wave was completely cleared.
