After witnessing Carol’s overwhelming display of power against the five Wall Breakers, combined with Vikram’s already dominant Plant Team, a strong wave of confidence washed over everyone on the wall.
For the first time that night, they truly believed they would clear this final wave without major injuries. Many even started thinking about the peaceful sleep they would finally get until next Saturday.
The portals stabilized once again.
It was the tenth and final wave of Sunday, beginning at 11:30 PM.
The Necrotic Fog reached its peak intensity, completely dominating the battlefield with thick darkness and constant shifting movement, making it almost impossible to see clearly.
From the portals poured a massive horde, roughly 50,000 normal zombies, 10,000 elite zombies, 500 elite flying head zombies, 300 apex zombies, and 8 boss-level Wall Breakers.
The moment the last of them arrived, the mist began slowly returning back into the portals. One by one, the portals started to vanish, the usual sign that Sunday’s final wave had fully begun.
The defenders didn’t pay much attention to it. This was normal after every Sunday’s last wave.
But they didn’t know…
This time, one portal did not disappear.
Its size was small, barely noticeable, and it remained hidden behind the massive zombie wave. No one on the wall saw it.
—
The battlefield was now a sea of undead stretching as far as the eye could see. The eight Wall Breakers stood tall among the horde like dark pillars of destruction, their launcher arms already glowing.
Vikram took a deep breath and looked at his Plant Team, then at Isha and Carol.
“Everyone… get ready.”
The final wave had begun.
Fire Mage Sprout and Pooja immediately took the lead in clearing the massive numbers of normal and elite zombies.
The Fire Mage Sprout raised its tiny hand toward the sky and unleashed Ember Meteor. A concentrated flaming projectile formed high above and crashed down, creating a huge explosion that engulfed thousands of normal zombies in flames.
Pooja followed right after, igniting her flames and sending wave after wave of fire across the battlefield. She moved with full power, determined not to fall behind the sprout.
Even with both of them working together, it took time. The sheer number of zombies, nearly 60,000 in total between normal and elites, made the cleanup slower than previous waves. Ember Meteor and Pooja’s fire burned through large sections, but the horde was so dense that new zombies kept pouring in to replace the fallen ones.
Still, in just five minutes, the battlefield was largely cleared of normal and elite zombies. Only ash, charred remains, and a few scattered survivors remained in that category.
Everyone’s attention now shifted toward the **500 Elite Flying Head Zombies, still hovering in the air, their small spinning fans making a sharp, constant whirring sound as they floated through the thinning fog.
Pooja immediately stepped forward, flames igniting in her palms. She began firing one by one precise fireballs that engulfed each Flying Head Zombie and turned them into ash within seconds.
But the Fire Mage Sprout didn’t stay idle.
Its vines suddenly stretched out from its small body, shooting upward like living whips. The burning vines pierced straight through the Flying Head Zombies one after another, igniting them from the inside. Each pierced head burst into flames and disintegrated almost instantly.
Working together, Pooja and the Fire Mage Sprout cleared all 500 Flying Head Zombies in just one minute.
The battlefield was now almost empty of lesser threats.
Only the 300 Apex Zombies and the 8 Wall Breakers remained.
The real fight was about to begin.
The Apex Zombies, a terrifying mix of Hulkings, Colossi, Plague Bringers, Shadow Lurkers, and other variants, roared and charged forward. The eight Wall Breakers stood at the back, their launcher arms already glowing as they prepared to fire.
Vikram’s Plant Team, along with Isha, Carol, and the other awakeners, moved into position.
The Guardian Druid and Warrior Druid took the front line, ready to tank the heaviest hits. The Fire Mage Sprout and Pooja prepared for area suppression. The Archer Sprouts nocked their thorn arrows, aiming at vital points. The Light Mage Sprout glowed with radiant energy, ready to counter any Shadow Lurkers. The Water Mage Sprout stayed close to Isha for rocket defense. L
The newly summoned Assassin Sprout and Phantom Sprout melted into the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike from behind.
Carol stood slightly apart, her golden eyes scanning the battlefield with calm interest.
Isha cracked her knuckles, white energy surging around her body.
“Alright,” Isha said, her voice steady and commanding. “Let’s finish this.”
The 300 Apex Zombies charged forward like a living tide of death, a terrifying mix of Hulkings, Colossus, Plague Bringers, Shadow Lurkers, and other monstrous variants. Behind them, the 8 Wall Breakers stood tall, their launcher arms glowing as they prepared to unleash hell.
Carol glanced at Isha with a small smile. “I’ll take care of the Wall Breakers like before. You all handle the rest.”
Isha nodded once. “Don’t take too long.”
Carol stepped forward alone, while the rest of the team, Vikram’s Plant Sprouts, Isha, Pooja, Imran, Raghav, Arjun, and the others, moved to intercept the 300 Apex Zombies.
The battle erupted.
The Guardian Druid and Warrior Druid took the frontline, acting as unbreakable anchors. The Guardian Druid slammed its shield into the ground, sending thick vines erupting to bind and immobilize groups of Hulkings and Colossi. The Warrior Druid followed with relentless blade strikes, cutting through bound enemies with “Wawawawa!” shouts, severing heads and limbs in rapid succession.
The Fire Mage Sprout and Pooja worked in tandem for area control. Ember Meteor rained down from the sky, creating massive fiery explosions that incinerated dozens of Apex Zombies at once. Pooja followed up with sweeping waves of flame, burning through any survivors and preventing the Plague Bringers from spreading their toxic clouds.
The two Archer Sprouts stayed on the wall, raining thorn arrows with perfect precision. They focused on blinding and weakening high-threat targets, piercing the eyes of Colossus and disrupting the coordination of Shadow Lurkers.
The Light Mage Sprout moved like a beacon of hope, flashing Radiant Bolts that forced Shadow Lurkers out of hiding and burned away their darkness. Any Shadow Lurker that tried to ambush was instantly exposed and destroyed.
The newly summoned Assassin Sprout and Phantom Sprout operated in the shadows. The Assassin Sprout used Silent Step to dart between enemies, delivering lethal Leaf Blade Strikes to vital points. The Phantom Sprout flickered in and out of existence, using Mist Clones to create chaos and Shadow Assassinate to strike from behind, eliminating high-value Apex threats before they could reach the main line.
Isha moved like a storm of raw power. With Super Strength enhanced in her legs and fists, she charged into clusters of Apex Zombies, smashing Colossus and Hulkings with devastating punches and kicks that shattered armor and bone. The Water Mage Sprout stayed close, using Tidal Bind to restrain any that tried to overwhelm her.
In just 10–12 minutes of intense fighting, the 300 Apex Zombies were systematically dismantled. The combination of raw power Isha & Water Mage Sprout, and the Guardian and Warrior Druids, area denial by Fire Mage & Pooja, and precision support by Archers & Light Mage, and stealth assassinations Assassin & Phantom proved overwhelming. No single Apex Zombie managed to break through to the wall.
Even Imran, Raghav, James and Arjun were also performed overwhelmingly.
Meanwhile, Carol handled the 8 Wall Breakers almost single-handedly.
The eight massive bosses roared and fired their rockets simultaneously.
BOOOOOOM!!! BOOOOOOM!!! BOOOOOOM!!!
But Carol simply kept walking forward. The rockets passed through her like she was made of mist and struck the other Wall Breakers instead, causing massive self-inflicted explosions.
She whispered softly, “Perception control.”
The Wall Breakers became trapped in her mind games. They saw her everywhere, attacked what they thought was her, but were actually hitting each other. Rockets exploded at point-blank range. Fists crushed their own allies. One by one, they tore themselves apart under her absolute control.
When tho particularly strong Wall Breaker broke free from the illusion and charged her directly, Carol stopped walking.
She looked into its eyes and whispered, “Feel it.”
The Wall Breaker froze, then turned and attacked its own comrades with suicidal fury.
In the end, Carol didn’t even need to touch most of them. By the time the last Wall Breaker stood alone, heavily damaged and roaring desperately, she simply stepped forward, placed a finger on its forehead, and whispered, “Sleep.”
Its body cracked apart and collapsed.
All 8 Wall Breakers were eliminated.
The battlefield fell silent again.
The tenth and final wave was over.
The Necrotic Fog began to retreat slowly, drifting back toward the vanishing portals. The battlefield, once a sea of death, now lay quiet under the moonlight covered only in ash, broken armor, and the corpses of the fallen undead.
For a few long seconds, everyone on the wall stood in stunned silence, trying to process what they had just witnessed.
Then the cheer erupted.
“WE DID IT!!!”
“WOOOOOO!!!”
Loud shouts and laughter exploded across the wall. The defenders hugged each other tightly, some jumping up and down, others slapping backs and shoulders in pure joy. The 500 guards of Cameron Town, who had been watching from below and behind the walls, also burst into celebration, raising their weapons and shouting at the top of their lungs.
“Captain Isha!!!”
“Vikram!!!”
“Carol!!!”
“Plant Team!!!”
The names echoed through the night air again and again.
Sana, Kavya, and Ayesha, unable to hold back their happiness, rushed toward Vikram. Without hesitation, they started kissing his cheeks one after another, soft, quick, joyful kisses filled with relief and affection.
“Vikram, you were amazing!” Sana laughed, pressing another kiss to his cheek.
“I can’t believe we actually survived that!” Kavya said excitedly, kissing his other cheek.
“You really did it… our hero,” Ayesha whispered, giving him a warm kiss on the cheek as well.
Vikram didn’t deny any of it. He simply smiled, accepting their affection with a slightly flushed face.
The rest of the team soon arrived on the wall. Pooja, Imran, Raghav, Arjun, and the others gathered around, laughing and congratulating each other. But the biggest focus quickly shifted to Vikram’s Plant Team.
The sprouts were surrounded by people. Guards and awakeners patted their heads, shoulders, and backs, praising them loudly.
“You guys were insane!”
“That fire meteor… I’ve never seen anything like it!”
“The way you cut those Apex Zombies… unbelievable!”
The Warrior Druid and Guardian Druid stood proudly, puffing out their chests and making happy “Wawa!” and “Gaga!” sounds. The Fire Mage Sprout glowed brighter with pride. The Archer Sprouts looked shy but pleased. The Light Mage Sprout, being more girl-like in appearance, blushed a soft golden color when girls gently touched her leaves and praised her radiant attacks.
Even the newly born Assassin Sprout and Phantom Sprout received attention. Though they tried to stay in the shadows, a few brave guards still managed to pat them, making the Assassin Sprout fidget awkwardly and the Phantom Sprout flicker in and out of visibility with embarrassment.
Vikram watched all of this with a warm smile. His Plant Team, his loyal companions, were celebrated like the heroes they were.
Isha stood a little away, watching everything with soft, proud eyes. She glanced at Vikram, then at Carol, and finally at the celebrating crowd. For the first time in a long while, the weight on her shoulders felt a little lighter.
Carol leaned against the wall, arms crossed, a faint amused smile on her lips as she observed the scene. She made a small note in her mind, but for now, she simply enjoyed the rare moment of pure joy.
The entire town of Cameron was celebrating. They had survived the tenth and final wave.
They had survived Sunday. And from tonight to next Saturday… They were safe.
But they were not seeing that one portal was still there, and they didn’t realise how much danger it was.
