Two animals were far from enough for his shelter. In his opinion, the territory needed to at least be able to allow livestock to breed.
Only then could the food problem be truly solved once and for all.
Cultivation within the territory was still in full swing. After the previous harvest, the cultivated land had not been left idle for even a single day. With the dedicated assistance of the Water Mage Sprout and Earth Mage Sprout, a large section of Territory 2 had been systematically transformed into fertile farmland.
The Earth Mage Sprout worked first, using its abilities to loosen and enrich the soil across a vast area. It mixed in organic nutrients and created perfect drainage channels, turning what was once barren wasteland ground into soft, dark, and highly productive soil.
The Water Mage Sprout followed closely, summoning gentle, controlled rain that evenly watered the fields without causing flooding or erosion. Together, the two mages worked in perfect harmony, rapidly expanding the farmland.
Vikram stood at the edge of the fields, watching the process with satisfaction. He had already decided to make food self-sufficiency a top priority. No longer would he rely solely on hunting or occasional raids for supplies.
Using the seeds he had obtained from the Savage Wolf Shelter’s warehouse and some he had traded earlier, Vikram began sowing a wide variety of new vegetables. He personally walked through the fields with a basket, scattering seeds methodically.
First, he sowed rows of potatoes, carrots, and radishes, hardy crops that could withstand the harsh wasteland conditions.
Next came tomatoes, cucumbers, and bell peppers, which would provide essential vitamins. He also planted large patches of cabbage, spinach, lettuce, and onions.
For long-term storage, he added beans, peas, and corn. In one corner, he even experimented with chili plants and garlic, hoping they would thrive under the careful management of his plant army.
The Archer Sprouts and Guardian Druids helped by creating simple wooden frames and trellises for climbing plants like beans and cucumbers. The Healer Druid moved between the rows, occasionally releasing gentle life energy to boost seed germination and early growth.
By the time the sun began to set, several acres of Territory 2 had been transformed into neatly organized farmland. Straight rows of freshly sown seeds stretched across the fields, each section clearly labeled with small wooden markers made by the plant beings.
Vikram wiped the sweat from his forehead and looked at the vast expanse with a sense of accomplishment. With the help of the mages and the diligent work of his plant army, these crops would grow at an accelerated rate compared to normal conditions. In just a few weeks, the first harvest should be ready.
He turned to the Water Mage and Earth Mage Sprouts and said, “Keep a close eye on the fields. Maintain optimal moisture and soil quality. If anything unusual happens, inform me immediately.”
The two sprouts rustled their leaves in acknowledgment.
With the food production base now properly established, Vikram felt a heavy burden lift from his shoulders. No longer would he have to worry about feeding the growing population of both his own territory and the Savage Wolf Shelter under his control.
He was also a little discouraged that he didn’t find any fruit tree seed.
As night fell, the soft glow of street lights illuminated the newly created farmland. Vikram stood there for a while longer, envisioning the future where his territories would produce more than enough food to sustain everyone comfortably.
The foundation for long-term survival had finally been laid.
This time, Vikram deliberately looked for water sources on the map to facilitate his collection of various fish species.
One man and three women, two Druids sat in the RV, admiring the scenery along the way while observing relatively abrupt terrain.
The appearance of new resources had no warning, and the map wouldn’t show them; they basically had to rely on visual inspection.
“Vikram, why are these resources so hard to find? We’ve driven dozens of miles these past two days, but we haven’t seen a single thing.”
After getting used to the endless snow-covered landscape outside the car window, Anjali said listlessly.
Upon hearing this, Vikram just shook his head.
He himself was clueless about the patterns of new resource appearances.
If he knew the exact locations, why would he need to run around like a headless fly as he was now?
He had been searching for resources outdoors for the past two or three days, and Vikram couldn’t even be bothered to kill the zombies he encountered on the way.
After all, zombies would only become more numerous in the future; there was no rush to acquire resources from these few zombies now.
He was so persistent in finding these new materials also because, although his territory had the help of the system, it had far fewer members than other Shelters.
As a result, he couldn’t quickly learn about some new happenings in the Wasteland World.
It was crucial to know that these pieces of information were vital in the Wasteland World.
The appearance of zombies was one example; while other Survivors still thought the Wasteland World would mercifully revive the dead Survivors, he had already prepared to resist the zombies.
This alone was enough to prove the importance of knowing about changes in the Wasteland in advance.
He had no immediate plans to expand the territory’s membership; for now, he could only use the clumsy method of searching blindly.
With a heaven-defying vehicle like a RV for travel, he imagined that even if new resources were rare, he would find them in no time.
The outdoor temperature of minus twenty degrees, coupled with snow and wind, made visibility even lower.
Fortunately, this RV was legendary and it has many functions, even the basic heating function.
As the temperature inside the RV rose, a temperature difference formed between the inside and outside of the windows, and a layer of condensation accumulated on them.
Anjali, whose view of the outside was obscured, frowned slightly and reached out to wipe the window, attempting to clear the mist.
When the mist turned into water droplets flowing inside the car, the building on the side of the window made her eyes widen.
“Stop, stop, stop the car first.” Before she could check what the building specifically was, she first called out to Vikram, who was focused on driving.
“What’s wrong?”
“Did you find new resources?” The question came from his side, clearly Divya’s voice.
In response, Anjali just shook her head. “You two see for yourselves.” As she spoke, she pointed to the right.
Vikram and Anjali followed the direction of her finger, looking out through the wiped-clean car window.
Soon, both of them also spotted a building standing in the snowstorm about a hundred meters away.
“My goodness, wasn’t that the place we just passed? How did I not notice it?”
Due to the rain and snow, as well as the fogging of the car windows, the two of them had not noticed the building when they passed by earlier.
The three of them almost wasted another day of the Wasteland World’s peaceful period today.
“Hmph hmph, now you know how amazing this beautiful lady is, Vik, aren’t you going to thank me?”
Having been useful, Anjali immediately started to show off, tilting her head back arrogantly.
Vikram smiled at her words, reached out, and ruffled her hair, saying gently, “Alright, alright, tonight I’ll let you have an extra chicken drumstick.”
“Is this your way of thanking me? You messed up my hair! You’re repaying kindness with enmity!” Anjali slapped away Vikram’s hand, glaring at him at the same time.
However, Vikram ignored her and got out of the RV directly, also motioning for the two of them to get out.
He then put the RV back into his backpack and walked forward to check the situation.
He lowered his head and carefully checked the biological detector; scattered zombies were still wandering around.
However, they were still a short distance away, so he didn’t need to worry about them. Only then did he lead the two closer to the building.
He couldn’t see clearly from the car earlier, but now that they were closer, the true appearance of the building appeared before their eyes.
The entire building was constructed entirely of poured concrete, only about a hundred square meters in size.
With just one glance, Vikram ruled out the possibility of it being a ruin.
Nor could it be a Survivor’s building, because Vikram had never seen any other Survivor use such building materials.
Even a Shelter of the scale of the Savage Wolf Shelter was just made of iron houses.
