Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System - Chapter 180: Disinfection Room Created

“Do you want to create it?”
Looking at the detailed plan displayed by the system, Vikram thought for a moment and asked, “Tell me how many Plant Essence points it will require.”
The system responded instantly:
[Verdant Scanner Plant: 3,000 Plant Essence]
[Vine Mist Entry Chamber: 10,000 Plant Essence]
[Spore Purge Pod: 20,000 Plant Essence]
[Minor Restoration Pod: 30,000 Plant Essence]
Vikram checked his current Plant Essence balance. After accumulating for many days, he had roughly 40,000 points.
Even so, he couldn’t afford to build everything at once.
He sighed inwardly, missing the ruins. The rewards from those explorations had always given him generous returns. Just the Vine Sniper Tower alone cost 100,000 Plant Essence, a price that felt painfully out of reach right now.
After a brief hesitation, Vikram made his decision.
“System, remove the Minor Restoration Pod. Create the Verdant Scanner Plant, Vine Mist Entry Chamber, and Spore Purge Pod.”
[Confirmed. Removing Minor Restoration Pod.]
[Total cost: 33,000 Plant Essence.]
[Remaining Plant Essence: 7,000.]
[Commencing construction…]
The moment the system confirmed, a soft green glow enveloped the entire corridor.
Vikram stepped back and watched in awe as the transformation began.
First, near the entrance of Territory 2, the ground trembled slightly. A small, elegant plant with shimmering emerald leaves slowly emerged from the soil. Its vines gently swayed even though there was no wind. This was the Verdant Scanner Plant. Tiny glowing runes appeared along its stems, pulsing softly as it began scanning the surroundings.
Next came the Vine Mist Entry Chamber.
Thick, flexible vines burst out from both sides of the corridor walls and intertwined rapidly, forming a sealed, tunnel-like chamber about five meters long. Soft, translucent leaf membranes stretched between the vines, creating a natural yet sturdy barrier. The entire structure looked organic and alive, yet incredibly solid. A gentle, pale mist began to circulate inside the chamber as soon as it finished forming.
Finally, the most important part, the Spore Purge Pod.
At the end of the Vine Mist Entry Chamber, the ground split open. A large, cocoon-like pod rose smoothly from below. Its surface was made of layered plant fibers in shades of deep purple and silver, glowing with faint bioluminescent spores. The pod was large enough to comfortably accommodate two adult humans at once. Inside, one could already see swirling clouds of cleansing particles dancing like fireflies.
The entire construction process took less than two minutes, yet it felt like watching nature itself come alive and reshape the environment according to Vikram’s will.
When the glowing light finally faded, a brand-new, semi-automatic disinfection zone stood before him. The corridor that was once crude and bare now looked like a living, breathing extension of his territory.
Vikram walked forward and placed his hand on the smooth vine wall of the Vine Mist Entry Chamber. It felt warm and slightly pulsating, as if it had a heartbeat of its own.
“Not bad…” he murmured, genuinely impressed.
He turned to the Verdant Scanner Plant and said, “From now on, you will be the first line of defense. Scan every single person who tries to enter Territory 2. Anyone showing even the slightest sign of infection must be redirected into the Vine Mist Entry Chamber and then into the Spore Purge Pod. Understood?”
The Verdant Scanner Plant’s leaves rustled softly in response, its vines glowing a gentle green as if acknowledging the order.
Vikram nodded in satisfaction.
He decided to personally test the new disinfection process.
First, he stepped in front of the Verdant Scanner Plant. The small emerald plant’s vines glowed softly as it scanned him from head to toe. A moment later, the vines turned a calm, reassuring green, indicating he was safe and free of infection.
Next he pushed open the door and stepped into the Vine Mist Entry Chamber.
The moment he entered, the chamber automatically sealed behind him with a soft rustling sound. Gentle mist containing cleansing particles began to spray from the leaf membranes, lightly coating his body and clothes. The mist had a fresh, slightly herbal scent and felt cool against his skin.
After a few seconds, the chamber’s vines parted at the far end, allowing him to proceed.
Satisfied, Vikram continued forward and entered the Spore Purge Pod.
The cocoon-like pod opened invitingly. As soon as he stepped inside, the pod gently closed around him. Warm, glowing spores and bio-reactive cleansing particles swirled around his body.
He could feel a faint tingling sensation as the system worked to neutralize any potential contaminants. The process was surprisingly comfortable, almost like a gentle massage combined with deep cleaning.
A few moments later, the pod opened again with a soft chime, releasing him completely purified.
Vikram stepped out and looked back at the newly built disinfection zone with approval. The entire process had been smooth, efficient, and far more advanced than any crude manual disinfection room could ever be.
Because it was a semi-automatic system, on normal days when he didn’t encounter zombies or infected individuals, he could simply bypass most of the process and enter directly. This would save a significant amount of energy.
Back inside the main Territory, it was already getting late. Vikram decided to pause further construction for the night.
He still had plans to search for new resources tomorrow morning. Building any more facilities at this moment would make him tired.
With a tired but satisfied sigh, Vikram headed toward the treehouse. The new disinfection buffer zone stood silently behind him.
At noon, the four of them, fully equipped, appeared at the territory 2’s main entrance.
As expected, the drastic changes made them very curious.
“This passageway?” Divya pointed at the clean and bright disinfection corridor, a puzzled sound escaping her lips.
Before he could explain, Anjali beside him also exclaimed, “Wow! It looks so high-tech.”
“What are these sinks and sprayers for?” She reached out and touched the novel equipment, then looked at Vikram.
Vikram smiled and gently explained, “Everything here is for disinfecting ourselves before we return to the Shelter after going outside.”
“The number of zombies outside is clearly increasing, so good disinfection is still very necessary.”
Upon hearing this, both of them nodded simultaneously, agreeing with Vikram’s words.
Even without black technology like biological detection, they could still sense the changes in the outside world.
It was almost an undeniable fact that zombies would eventually spread throughout the Wasteland World, making good disinfection preparations particularly crucial.
Vikram then briefly introduced the functions and usage of the disinfection chamber to them, before leading them outside.
Because of travelling in RV, although Vikram missed Divya’s back massages, which reduced some of his fun, he had to do it for convenience.
As for the reason for going out, it was, of course, to find new resources and various types of fish, as well as more livestock.
The sheep was caught and brought back to the territory last time.
Two animals were far from enough for his shelter. In his opinion, the territory needed to at least be able to allow livestock to breed.
