Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System - Chapter 208: Super Zombie

“Roar!” The nurse-clad woman shrieked, her two sharp claws unhesitatingly reaching for Vikram’s chest.
With incredible speed, in less than half a second, the zombie had vaulted over the nurse’s station and lunged forward.
However, Vikram might have been wary of such speed before, but now his reaction speed had reached 60 points.
When prepared, he wouldn’t give the female zombie any extra chance.
He held the long blade in his right hand and casually swung it, easily blocking the foul-smelling claws.
“Clang!” The fourth floor of the Hospital immediately echoed with the harsh sound of metal clashing.
Because of his physique, the zombie in front of him couldn’t advance an inch.
The zombie couldn’t move, but Vikram had no intention of letting it go at that.
He held his long blade steady, then lightly tapped the ground with his right foot, followed by a sudden, powerful kick to the female zombie’s side.
“Bang!” A massive force struck, and before the Mutated Zombie could react, its entire body was sent flying backward.
In Vikram’s Night Vision-equipped sight, the zombie, having taken a kick from him, lay motionless on the ground, pus spewing from its mouth.
The spot where it was kicked on its side was unnaturally bent at an angle.
Clearly, Vikram’s seemingly light kick had broken its lumbar spine.
The female zombie had just gotten to its feet, and after taking his kick, it couldn’t even stand straight, its upper body leaning to one side.
Its already ghastly appearance now looked even more bizarre.
There were still many supplies on the fourth floor, and Vikram didn’t plan to waste too much time here.
As the female zombie was just getting up, “Phanty,” Vikram murmured.
And next second, Phantom Druid appeared there, and he sliced off its foul smelling claws with one swing of his blade.
Without its claws to defend against a frontal attack, Phanty effortlessly swung his arm, and a head as large as a bucket flew off with a thud.
Looking at the lifeless corpse, Vikram certainly didn’t forget to search for it.
This was a Mutated Zombie, and the crystals it dropped were more valuable.
After some rummaging, unfortunately, there was no harvest.
“The drop rate is really low. How many Mutated Zombies have I killed, and I’ve only gotten one Mutated Zombie crystal so far?” Vikram pouted, lamenting his bad luck.
Finding no harvest on the corpse, he immediately walked forward and put the two monitors and mainframes from the nurse’s station into his storage.
Fortunately, these items were not as corroded as the high-precision instruments on the third floor.
Aside from some internal electronic components being damaged, there were no other flaws.
After circling the nurse’s station and finding no more valuable supplies to collect, he strode out of the hall.
He rushed into the patient rooms on the fourth floor.
Bed sheets, quilts, metal bed frames, everything was taken.
If it weren’t for the loud noise of dismantling these doors, he would have even wanted to take the metal doors.
In about ten minutes, the patient rooms on the fourth floor were thoroughly ransacked.
The most abundant items, of course, were the metal bed frames and various matching bedding.
They weren’t worth much money, but the sheer quantity was enough. He estimated that the metal needed for the initial construction of his territory should be almost sufficient after this outing.
Thinking of this, he felt a little excited. He had thought the refined decoration of his unfinished territory building was a long way off, but now it seemed it could be completed very soon.
The main building of this large Hospital had only five floors. As long as he explored the upper floors, he could pretty much make his escape.
After plundering the fourth floor of the Hospital, suppressing his inner joy, he continued upstairs.
But just as he reached the stairwell, a familiar feeling once again enveloped his heart.
How could Vikram, who had just been ambushed, make the same mistake twice? Being prepared, he dodged an arrow that was heading straight for his head with a swift movement.
“Buddy, you’re not done yet, are you? Do you really think I’m stupid for using the same trick twice?”
In the dark and quiet stairwell, Vikram glanced at the burly man hidden in the darkness with a hint of disdain in his eyes and said leisurely,
“Oh, last time there were four of you, but now there’s only one left. What’s going on? Trying to ambush me?”
His words sounded careless, he didn’t care about the person.
The person who had come out to ambush him again was Andres.
However, compared to the previous four, for some reason, only he was left.
In fact, not only Vikram was puzzled, but Andres himself was also curious.
It was only a few steps away, and he had been ambushing here for so long, so why hadn’t the other three arrived yet?
However, he only frowned slightly, and this thought was dismissed.
“If they don’t come, then so be it. I can secretly keep some supplies for myself then.”
Having figured it out, Andres held up a torch, looked at Vikram, and showed a mouthful of white teeth, sneering, “Kid, you don’t need to worry about where the others went. You should worry about your own situation first.”
“Before entering the Hospital, I thought you looked a bit unfamiliar, but I didn’t expect this stinky rat to actually be you.”
Under the illumination of the torch, the Moonshadow Cloak’s stealth function failed, revealing Vikram’s handsome and calm face.
“Tell me, how do you want to die today? I’ll try my best to fulfill your wish.”
“Haha, just kidding. No matter what you say, I guarantee I’ll torment you well today.”
“After I kill you, I’ll use your Survival Platform to find your territory, and then all you rats will be wiped out!”
“Just thinking about the desperate expressions of you stinky rats makes me want to laugh.”
“Don’t blame me. Blame yourself for provoking anyone but me.” Andres seemed truly angered by Vikram’s previous actions.
Now, even though he was just speaking, the excitement and brutality in his eyes were already unrestrained.
But he babbled for a long time, yet he didn’t notice that Vikram opposite him still maintained a calm demeanor.
It seemed he was tired of such talk, and he even boredly picked his earwax.
Seeing that Andres had finally finished speaking, he flicked the earwax onto the other’s face.
“Are you done speaking?”
“This is a robbery. Quickly hand over all the valuable supplies, which are on you.”
“I was the first to enter this Hospital, first come, first served, so everything you took from the Hospital is mine.”
“Hurry up and hand over the items, or I’ll punch you to death.”
Having seen such pre-battle threats countless times in the Wasteland apocalypse, Vikram mischievously imitated them.
He found that while the act was a bit idiotic, it was indeed quite interesting. After speaking, he didn’t forget to glare at Andres fiercely.
And Vikram’s monkey-like behavior, of course, instantly enraged Andres.
“You want my supplies? Alright, then you’ll have to see if you dare to come and get them.”
At this moment, Andres’s eyes were wide with fury, he never doubted his ability to easily take down the stinky rat in front of him.
Based on Vikram’s previous performance against the Mutated Zombie downstairs in the Hospital and the fact that he was shot and injured by him earlier, he shouldn’t be a difficult opponent.
His arm muscles bulged, and clear blue veins popped out on his forehead as he reached for Vikram.
As he was about to touch Vikram’s neck, he felt as if he could already hear the sound of Vikram’s neck being twisted off by him.
But this was ultimately just his fantasy.
Facing these two attacking hands, Vikram appeared remarkably calm compared to Andres’s impotent rage.
He slowly raised his hand, and just as Andres was about to reach him, he preemptively grabbed his four fingers.
Then Vikram twisted his wrist and pulled it back with a breath.
With just a slight exertion of force, a crisp “Crack!” echoed between the two.
“Ah!” It wasn’t until the excruciating pain spread from his fingers throughout his body that Andres realized what had happened, letting out a hoarse scream.
Through the torchlight on the ground, he clearly saw that the index and ring fingers of both his hands were twisted off.
Even though they hadn’t completely broken off, they were twisted into an extremely grotesque arc, hanging limply in the air.
“You…” Realizing that things were not quite as he had imagined, Andres quickly took a step back, still wanting to say something.
But what greeted him was Vikram’s direct punch to the face.
“Boom!” The pain in his hand hadn’t completely subsided when Andres was sent flying back several meters again.
His back hit the concrete staircase behind him with a heavy thud.
“Pfft!” A stream of hot blood trickled from his mouth.
Andres stretched out his twisted fingers, the injury to his back already preventing him from standing, and pointed at Vikram with a trembling voice, “You… how can you be so strong?”
Vikram had no intention of answering his question, but instead said to himself, “I told you to be sensible and hand over the supplies. Not willing to give them up?”
“Then just wait to be punched to death by me.”
With that, Vikram slowly stepped forward.
In the dimly lit Hospital, footsteps sounded.
They sounded slow, but each step seemed to land directly on Andres’s heart.
“Thump—thump—”
Through the torches on the ground, a figure could be seen gradually approaching.
Vikram was about to execute this Andres when his movements suddenly stopped, and his eyes widened.
“No, these aren’t my footsteps!”
His various stats were all close to 50 points on average, so unless he did it on purpose, how could his walking make such a loud sound?
This meant that these footsteps belonged to someone else, and they were very close to him.
Suddenly, Vikram felt a chill down his spine, and the air seemed to congeal at that moment.
Ignoring Andres, who he hadn’t killed yet, Vikram immediately summoned his long saber and swung it forcefully behind him.
“Clang!”
A piercing sound rang out, but through the Night Vision goggles, Vikram, seeing everything that was happening, had an expression of disbelief.
With just a light strike, the alloy long saber he had used for so long actually broke with a snap.
What made it even harder for him to believe was that the one who casually broke his alloy weapon was actually a Zombie.
It was a figure in a white lab coat; unlike the exaggerated physiques of most Mutated Zombies, this Zombie still maintained a human form.
Although its skin had begun to rot, revealing its stark white bones, it still wore that tattered lab coat, and its chest pocket seemed to contain a few scattered pens and a stethoscope.
The Attending Physician Zombie’s glasses were long shattered, with only one lens still precariously hanging on its nose bridge, reflecting a faint green light.
Its mouth was unnaturally twisted, and it still held a surgical knife in its hand.
The appearance of this Zombie didn’t surprise him much; what truly filled him with despair was the analysis provided by the system.
This was clearly a Legendary-level Zombie!!
[Super Zombie: Attending Physician, Grade: Gold, Strength: 97, Speed: 82, Stamina: 100, Reaction: 100.]
Several of its stats were close to a hundred; one must know that Vikram’s highest current Speed stat was only 61 points.
And the appearance of this Zombie almost completely overwhelmed Vikram’s strength.
Perhaps it was good luck that Vikram’s weapon broke just now, preventing the terrifying force of the opponent from being transmitted.
Otherwise, it might not have been the long saber that broke, but his own arm.
Upon seeing a Zombie of this level, Vikram’s heart instantly sank to the bottom.
