Chapter 1365: It Got Just A Little More Serious
The second round began with me leaping towards them, pulling back my Light Sword and charging it with mana.
I swung it in an arc in front of me, prompting the group of contestants I was aiming at to raise their swords in response to defend themselves against my attack.
My sword sliced through their blades like they weren’t even there before cutting through their bodies as well.
They only had a moment to look down at where the sword had cut them before they disappeared into particles of light and reappeared outside the arena.
Without giving the others time to realise what had happened, I jumped at another group to cut them down again, also easily eliminating them before they could defend themselves.
When I tried to do the same thing again on another group of contestants, three Mahuns jumped out and I felt my hair stand on end.
I pulled back and cast another spell while trying to complete my sword swing, right before the sound of metal hitting metal could be heard.
Looking up at my opponents, one of them had managed to block my sword with his own sword that was radiating electricity while the other two had moved to attack me with their weapons instead.
The woman in the middle had a spear and the other man had a rapier, both of their weapons now impaled on my chest.
Or… At least it would have impaled me had I not blocked their attacks by materialising a light shield in front of my chest.
The impact still drove me skidding back a few feet as I fought to keep my balance instead of falling over, my eyes locked onto my new attackers.
But instead of chasing after me, they leapt aside to my flanks, allowing a huge Wrunch to charge towards me, the guy being at least twice the size of Odeta with arm muscles as big as boulders.
He raised up his fist and water seemed to wrap around it, forming some kind of bubble that was wrapped around his entire hand.
I assume he was aiming for a contest in strength so I swung my Light Sword towards his punch with all my strength while being buffed by my Shadow Guards with several layers of [Strength]
My blade clashed against his fist, the water acting as some kind of shield that prevented my Light Sword from slicing through when it struck against it.
There was a loud crack as the ground beneath our feet splintered into spiderweb cracks, only to reform itself after a moment.
I managed to push him back a little but he let out a roar and pushed me back, his strength clearly superior to mine as he was still at least on par with me despite me already layering five stacks of [Strength] on myself.
I then realised that his goal here wasn’t to beat me but to hold me in place as the three people from earlier immediately rushed at me from my flanks, their weapons raised and prepared to strike at me.
Tsk… They think they really managed to corner me with this, huh?
While still holding the big guy in front of me, I raised my Shadow Sword and activated its enchantment, setting the sword alight with black flames.
I then swung it down towards the side, setting the ground ablaze with the same black flames and cutting off the two guys that were coming towards me from that side.
The woman with the spear came at me from the other side and it looked like her spear thrust would be able to hit me, until a ball of light appeared above my head and shot a [Laser] that pierced through her head.
She disappeared from where she stood, allowing me to focus on the remaining three people that was still attacking me.
I shifted my weight and redirected the Wrunch’s fist to punch past me, giving me space to slash my Shadow Sword at him.
He tried to block it with his other arm that was also wrapped in a layer of water and while it did prevent my sword from cutting through, the flames still set the water ablaze with the black flames.
The Wrunch seemed surprised as he probably thought the water would prevent the fire from igniting.
His instincts took over as he tried to smack the fire out with his other hand, only for his hand to be set alight as well.
While that guy was panicking with the flames, the other two moved around the fire to rush at me again, thinking they had the advantage since I was distracted by the big guy in front of me.
I ended that assumption of theirs by swinging my Light Sword in an arc, slicing through the rapier guy with the elongated blade.
The last guy managed to react in time by lifting up his sword again, stopping my blade in its track.
He didn’t even have time to relax as I immediately flew straight towards him and thrust out my Shadow Sword at him.
My sword pierced through his chest and he immediately disappeared in a flash of light.
I extinguished the flames after turning to see the Wrunch being consumed by the flames and disappearing from sight as well, leaving the others free to engage me again.
I sucked in a breath and swept my way through the crowd, making use of [Shadow Glide] to move between them and cutting down anyone unfortunate enough to be in range.
One Amrap managed to challenge me and match me blow for blow with her dual axes and while I would have not minded duelling with her to fight ’honourably’, I could not waste any time and energy on her.
I swung my Shadow Sword towards her, forcing her to block it with both of her axes crossed in front of her.
But before she could recover, I created a portal beside me and thrust my Light Sword into it.
The blade entered through the portal and pierced through the back of her head, the other end of the portal having appeared behind her.
I pulled out my blade as she disappeared, just in time to defend against a Rejmar swinging a giant warhammer down on me.
I kicked out my foot in response, my heel smashing into the flat of his hammer and shattering the weapon into pieces.
He was still staring at his broken weapon in shock when I slashed my blade through his neck to eliminate him.
At this point, there was only a small scattering of enemies left but I kept up my momentum as these people just needed one clean hit on me to win while I had to make sure everyone loses.
I flipped up into the air, avoiding the horizontal slashes from two of my opponents before kicking them across the face with a split kick.
I then spun in a circle, smashing two of my opponents away with my tail while parrying two swords coming from my left and right.
A [Spark Strike] blasted against one of them while I sidestepped and slashed my sword to decapitate my second opponent.
That chained to another side step to avoid a spear thrust from another guy behind me which I then countered with a tail strike to his chest.
Fireballs were launched towards me which I countered with an equal number of water walls before shooting [Lightning Rod] in that direction to electrocute the mages.
My eyes scanned the surroundings and found my next target right as they shot an arrow towards me.
A beat from my wings blew away the arrow before I dove down towards the archer, slashing my sword through his neck before he could get away from me.
More of them formed up in an attempt to attack me as a big group, charging towards me with their weapons raised in a last ditch attempt at overwhelming me.
With the space they gave me…
I swung my Light Sword back, pouring in as much mana as I could into the blade and extending it until it was of a giant size that could cover half the field.
With a yell, I swung the blade horizontally across, the sword slicing through the entire group with barely any resistance and cutting everyone that didn’t duck fast enough into half.
But in the midst of my swing, one person raised their hand and stopped my sword with their bare hands, preventing me from completing the swing.
I frowned at the person, realising there were two of them standing side by side at the far end of the field and these two must have been hiding behind everyone this entire time, letting them fight me while they just watched from the back.
That wasn’t the surprising thing, however… What shocked me was the fact that I wasn’t expecting these two people to be here.
It was a Wrunch and Trasif standing there, looking all prim and proper in their butler and maid uniform.
Mary? Sebastian? Why are the both of you standing over there?
