Chapter 1414: If it can’t spray it

“Even if you can manipulate water like that, it won’t be that simple to deal with the hydra.”

Once again, the translator had been the one that had been chosen to guide Lin Fan.

Unlike before where he had remained completely silent, it seemed like there was a lot that the translator had to say this time.

Though Lin Fan knew that this wasn’t because they had gotten closer, it was that the translator was worried that something might happen. He was worried that Lin Fan might have problems dealing with the hydra, which would cause trouble for their tribe.

So that was why he was offering all of this information now.

In the middle of this, Lin Fan just couldn’t help asking, “So you know all of this information, but you’ve never tried to do anything about it?”

A bitter smile appeared on the translator’s face when he heard this before he said with a bitter tone, “Even if we know all of this, what can we do if we can’t even penetrate the skin of this beast. We know what our limits are and we don’t try to overreach.”

The end of his sentence seemed to have a barb attached to it that was aimed at Lin Fan.

Only Lin Fan didn’t take this jab at him seriously.

Instead, Lin Fan chose to focus on something else.

“Since you’ve kept track of this thing all this time, have you really never thought of outside help? I’m sure that there are those that would be willing to help you in return for the resources of your tribe.”

“We keep track of it so we know how to avoid it and not cause trouble. We never asked for help since there was no need as long as we left it alone.” The translator didn’t have any patience for Lin Fan’s words at all.

Instead, he went back to giving more instructions to Lin Fan on how to deal with the hydra.

But then all of a sudden, the translator came to a stop.

Lin Fan stopped with him, but he didn’t know what the translator was doing.

That was until he saw that the translator went over to one of the trees that was nearby to check for something. Following the gaze of the translator, he saw that there was a mark that was on the tree.

Once the translator confirmed this mark, he turned back to Lin Fan to say, “The hydra is in this area.”

Though he said this, it didn’t seem like he was planning on going anywhere as he stood right by the tree.

“You aren’t coming?”

The translator just gave a firm shake of the head before saying, “This is your problem, we’re not getting involved. I don’t want to lose my life just by following you around.”

A wry smile appeared on Lin Fan’s face at how blunt the translator was being, but it wasn’t as if he held it against the translator. He knew exactly what the translator was feeling and he even respected him a bit for being this blunt.

“Which way?” That was all that Lin Fan asked in the end.

The translator just pointed in a direction without saying anything and Lin Fan headed off in that direction.

Though as he walked off, he could hear something from behind him.

“I hope you don’t die.”

Lin Fan didn’t say anything as he raised a hand for the translator.

Following the direction that the translator pointed out, it didn’t take Lin Fan long to find his target. After all, with how big the target was, it was hard for it to avoid damaging the surrounding area.

With the marks that the hydra left behind, it really was easy for Lin Fan to find it.

When he came closer, he could even feel the trembling that came from the ground.

It was clear that the hydra was near and it was even currently moving. Though why it was moving was not something that Lin Fan was aware of.

Still, it wasn’t as if it would be that hard for him to figure that out since he was already nearby.

All it took was a simple sweep with his spiritual sense.

What he found was that the hydra was just slowly moving across the swamp without a real goal. It seemed like the hydra was just completely bored with how it moved along, looking for something to do.

That just came with being the king of this entire Serpent Wetlands.

It wasn’t as if there was anything that could threaten the hydra, so it was able to satisfy all of its basic needs quite easily. That meant that most of the time, there really wasn’t much for the hydra to do.

Since that was the case…

“This should be easy. The only real thing that I had to worry about was its poison, but if it can’t spray it…”

From the information that the translator gave me and the information from the reports of the Laver Empire, Lin Fan had already figured out how to deal with this hydra. Though there was one thing that he couldn’t help thinking…

“Did she send me to the lion first since she knew that it would help me deal with this hydra?”

When the hydra stopped, that was when he made my move.

The things that had suddenly appeared around its mouths had blocked everything from coming out.

It wasn’t as if the roars of the hydra were the main problem, the real problem was the poison that the hydra released. As for how it released it, it was mainly done by spitting it out through the mouth.

Which was why Lin Fan used the rock armour to block the nine mouths of the hydra.

With how strong the rock armour was, there really wasn’t anything that the hydra could do against it and there was a lot that it tried to do. It tried to melt through it with the poison, it tried to break it with its tail, it even tried to chew through the rock armour itself with its teeth.

Since Lin Fan was the one that created the rock armour, he could sense everything that the hydra was trying to do to it. He could also easily replenish the rock armour if there was something that had worked against it.

It was just that there was nothing that worked at all.

The only reason that Lin Fan didn’t finish off the hydra right away was because he was thinking about something.

“Is there a way to keep it alive and keep harvesting its poison?”

At this point, he wasn’t even worried about whether he would be able to deal with this hydra or not. The only thing that he was thinking about was how to keep harvesting the hydra for the resources that it had.

But no matter how Lin Fan looked at it, it seemed like the hydra was just too dangerous for something like this. It really didn’t seem like there was a way to safely keep this thing while allowing it to keep its ability to create poison.

“It really is a shame.” That was all that Lin Fan could say before he flicked his wrist.

The moment that he flicked his wrist, the rock armour that had been wrapped around the nine heads of the hydra suddenly collapsed in on itself. These rock armour helmets had completely covered the heads of the hydra, but now it flattened in on itself.

With the shape that these rocks now possessed, it was clear that the heads of the hydra had been completely crushed.

This wasn’t the only thing that Lin Fan did.

After the rock helmets collapsed in on themselves, they were suddenly removed from the hydra to reveal the neck stubs that were there.

Lin Fan knew that this hydra was just like the one from the myths of his past life, so he naturally knew about the hydra’s ability to recover. Which was why he had already prepared a method to deal with this.

“Woosh.”

Once the rock helmets had been removed, there were dark flames that appeared on the neck stubs of the hydra. These black flames quickly spread all out across the neck stub and burned everything that was there.

The neck stubs that had originally been growing new cells seemed to stop as they encountered the black flames. The black flames continued to burn away everything that was trying to grow out of these stubs.

It didn’t take long before all movement from the stubs stopped and the hydra body collapsed to the ground.

With this, one would think that the hydra was completely finished.

However, Lin Fan didn’t let his guard down as he suddenly released even more flames to completely cover the body of the hydra. He was using all of his power to burn every single part of the hydra so that there was no chance of it recovering.

Only when the hydra’s corpse was charred did he finally stop the flames.
