With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods - Chapter 1419: Phantom

Chapter 1419: Phantom
As the rumours said, this thing really was like a phantom with the speed that it possessed.
Even with Lin Fan’s powerful abilities, it really was hard for him to keep track of this hind.
Since he couldn’t keep track of it, it was only natural that the young nobles weren’t either.
The only thing that the young nobles could do was chase after Lin Fan in an attempt to use him as some kind of shield. Only no matter how fast they ran, they just couldn’t seem to catch up to him at all.
If it wasn’t for the fact that they were always just out of reach, then they would have given up a long time ago.
“Just a little bit more, just a little bit more.”
That was all that they could think without actually knowing that this was planned by Lin Fan. He was just keeping them close because he was using them to observe the hind that was attacking them.
“Why isn’t it attacking me?”
That was the one thing that confused Lin Fan when he saw what the hind was doing.
Even if he was wary of the hind, it wasn’t as if it wouldn’t have been able to hit him if it had wanted to. With its speed, it could have easily caught up to him and hit him with the same attack that it had hit the young nobles with.
Only from the way that the hind acted, it was as if it didn’t want to approach Lin Fan.
Or rather, it seemed like there was no reason for the hind to actually attack Lin Fan.
“But I’m invading its territory, so why wouldn’t it want to drive me out?”
The more that he thought about it, the more confused he was.
It was just that this really wasn’t the time to be thinking about that.
What Lin Fan needed to do was find a way to stop the hind and trap it.
It was just that since the hind didn’t really approach him, it wasn’t as if he could set a trap for the hind. At the same time, it wasn’t as if he wanted to show these young nobles more power than he should show.
So the only thing that Lin Fan could do was wait and observe.
“Can’t it knock out these idiots faster?” There was a part of him that even cursed the young nobles for not being knocked out faster.
In the end, all of the young nobles fell one by one until there was only one left.
Once there was that one young noble left, it seemed like he just couldn’t take it anymore. The fear that he felt reached a certain point that he completely lost control of himself.
“I’m taking you down with me!”
The young noble shouted out before taking out a knife that was soon covered in flames.
It was clear that this was a magic weapon, but that was the problem.
After all, he was trying to use something that created flames in a place where he was surrounded by trees. It was obvious that he was no longer thinking clearly if he was doing something like this.
Lin Fan narrowed his eyes to look at the young noble, but in the end he moved forward with a sigh.
All it took was a single chop to the back of the neck to knock out that young noble and then he quickly grabbed the flaming knife with his other hand. There was water that gathered around the flaming knife when he grabbed it that immediately put out the flames that had been gathered.
There wasn’t even a single reaction from the young noble other than losing consciousness.
Lin Fan moved at a speed that the young noble just simply couldn’t keep up with at all.
After knocking the young noble out, Lin Fan didn’t move as he was waiting for something.
“Come…” He muttered under his breath as he prepared himself for what was to come. Only there was nothing that came at him in the end.
A long moment of silence passed before Lin Fan looked up in the direction that the hind had come from previously.
He hadn’t really expected anything, but he found that there was a head that was poking out of the bush in that direction. It wasn’t a human head that was poking out, it was a hind head.
With the way that the hind just looked at him, it really seemed like it was just observing him.
Other than that, it also didn’t seem like the hind had any intentions of attacking him at all. The way that the hind looked at him was as if it was just curious about him, rather than having any hostility towards him.
Seeing this made Lin Fan confused once more.
“Why was it so aggressive towards those young nobles and it’s completely ignoring me?”
After a long moment of silence, Lin Fan finally said, “Do you understand what I’m saying?”
The hind didn’t seem to react when Lin Fan called out to it, but Lin Fan wasn’t certain if this meant that it didn’t understand him or if it was just ignoring him. After all, he could see the flash that was in the hind’s eyes as it looked at him.
He could see the clarity and intelligence that was in the hind’s eyes.
This clearly wasn’t a creature that didn’t understand what he was saying.
“But then again, it isn’t as if I’m giving it a reason to trust me or even interact with me. I am an invader in its territory after all.” Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling awkward as this thought passed through his mind.
It really didn’t seem like there was anything that Lin Fan could do regarding this hind, so he just remained there silently staring at it.
With the way that the hind stared right back at him, it seemed like as long as he didn’t do anything to it, it wouldn’t do anything to him. So there was this awkward staring contest that took place between Lin Fan and the hind as he didn’t know what to do.
In the end, Lin Fan knew that he couldn’t just remain still like this.
The thing that he had been looking for was right there in front of him, so even if it ran away now, he had to at least try and approach it.
The moment that Lin Fan took his first step…
“Woosh.”
The head that had been poking out of the bush disappeared back into the bush and Lin Fan completely lost track of it. Even though he had released his spiritual sense to track the hind, it seemed to have disappeared.
“It really is just like a phantom.” Lin Fan muttered to himself with a sigh.
Looking at the young nobles that were unconscious on the ground, Lin Fan shook his head before gathering them up. They might have tried to use him as a human shield, but it wasn’t as if he could just leave them here.
After all, this place was too dangerous to leave unconscious people lying around.
But at the same time, there was another reason that Lin Fan was taking them along with him.
“The hind seemed adamant on attacking these young nobles, so they should serve well as bait.”
He had lost the tracks of the hind, so he had to find a way to get it back.
After picking up the two young nobles closest to him, Lin Fan headed back in the same direction that he had just come from. As he went that way, he picked up the other unconscious young nobles that were still on the ground.
It was honestly amazing that there was nothing that had come to attack them yet.
After all, they had made quite a bit of commotion while they had been running away from the hind. That kind of commotion should have easily attracted the other beasts that lived in this forest.
Still, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan was complaining since it meant less trouble for him.
He picked up all of the nobles and then reached the place that they had encountered the hind previously before dropping all of these nobles on the ground.
After dropping them, Lin Fan just said to himself, “What do I do now?”
Though he had picked them up as bait, it wasn’t as if he knew what it was about them that had attracted the hind in the first place. It wasn’t as if just by dropping them here like this, the hind would be drawn back to this place.
He had to use the young nobles in some way to get the hind to come back.
Only it wasn’t as if he knew what to do…
“Should I wake them up?” Lin Fan didn’t really want to do this since he knew that it would be troublesome if the young nobles woke up. There was no doubt that they would make a commotion if he were to wake them up and the first thing they saw was his face.
But it really didn’t seem like he had another option.
Lin Fan was completely lost on what to do now.
So he decided to drop some water on them and see if they would wake up.
Before he could do this, there was a voice that said, “Please don’t do that.”
Lin Fan was completely caught off guard by the appearance of this voice before looking around himself.
It didn’t seem like there was anything that this voice was coming from.
