It wasn’t just the tone of this voice that changed, it was the voice itself that had changed.

The one from before had a childish sound to it.

This one seemed to even have an echo that seemed to give it some kind of solemn tone to it.

It was clear that this was some kind of thing that was talking through this hind, especially with the way that it had addressed the hind just now.

The other thing that Lin Fan heard from this voice was the trace of hostility that was in it, but it wasn’t as if he couldn’t understand why there was this hostility.

It had been right about one thing, Lin Fan had been trying to lure this hind away.

So it was certainly within its rights to be angry at him.

After a moment of silence, Lin Fan finally asked, “Who are you?”

“Are you really in the position to be asking that?” There was no hesitation from the other side when they said this which caused Lin Fan’s lips to twitch, but it wasn’t as if he could deny what they were saying.

He was the one that had tried to steal the hind away and now he was questioning the other side like this, so by all rights he was indeed the rude one. It was only normal that this would be their response.

“I don’t mean any harm. I just feel that it would be better for it to come with me and see the world.”

This time, the hind didn’t reply right away as it just looked at Lin Fan in silence.

After a while, the hind finally nodded in agreement and said, “Well, that is true. This little hind of mine has been hiding for a long time now all because of the order that I gave it a long time ago. It’s something that I do feel guilty about, but it’s not as if I can just order it to go out without anyone guiding it.”

Lin Fan’s lips couldn’t help twitching when he heard this.

After all, the way that the voice said this was as if they were the hind’s parent rather than someone that seemed to be the hind’s patron.

But then his expression changed when the voice said, “But the way that you’re trying to trick my little hind isn’t exactly what I’d like to call proper.”

Lin Fan really didn’t know what to say to this since he also felt the same way.

In his past life, these were tricks that others used to trick children.

But it wasn’t as if he would say that to whoever this was.

“While the method may have been questionable, it doesn’t feel like you meant any harm.”

Lin Fan couldn’t help giving a secret sigh of relief when he heard this, but he still didn’t let his guard down since he didn’t know what the other side wanted.

After another silence, the voice finally said, “So if I let my little hind go with you, what will you do for me?”

Lin Fan was once again caught off guard since he didn’t know what to say in response to this. After all, he had no idea what the other side would even want since he didn’t know who the other side was.

So instead of answering right away, Lin Fan took a moment to seriously think about this.

Instead of answering this question, Lin Fan posed another question, “Are you a god?”

The voice didn’t answer right away as it made the hind narrow its eyes to look at Lin Fan, but eventually it said, “You’ve already had an encounter with a god before, right? No, it isn’t just a single god, it seems like you’ve had an encounter with multiple gods.”

Lin Fan exercised his right to remain silent in the face of this question.

It didn’t seem like the voice minded as it said, “Since you’re familiar with gods, then there’s no reason to hide it from you. I am Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt and this hind is my divine beast.”

A strange expression appeared on Lin Fan’s face when he heard this.

Though he already knew that gods had different personalities, the personality that this god in front of him possessed was just too out there. It just didn’t seem to fit what he thought a god would be like.

But there was also a second reason that he was surprised.

“Divine beast? Is she really talking about the hind?”

After all, the hind didn’t really fit what Lin Fan thought a divine beast would be.

However, this was a god that was directly telling him this…

After Artemis revealed her identity as a goddess, Lin Fan was able to slowly confirm this with the aura that came from the hind. He had already met a god before and had encountered the aura of another god and even a demon, so he knew that this was divine energy.

This wasn’t something that could be replicated by anyone.

“Then what do you want from me?” Lin Fan asked in a simple manner.

At this point, he stopped thinking too much about all of this since he knew that there was nothing to gain from thinking any more about this.

The only reason that Artemis would reveal all of this was because she would want something from him. Though what that was, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan had an idea since he didn’t know anything about gods in the first place.

Artemis didn’t say anything at first, but then she said, “There’s nothing that I really want from you.”

Lin Fan’s lips twitched again when he heard this, but he just looked at her in disbelief.

After all, it really didn’t seem to make sense that Artemis would go this far just to say that there wasn’t anything that she wanted from him. No matter how he looked at it, it really seemed like there was something that she wanted in return.

But before either of them could say anything else, there was this different sensation that came over the hind before it said, “I’m sorry for my sister, she’s an impulsive one and doesn’t really think that much.”

Lin Fan slightly knitted his brow hearing this.

He could hear that this was a completely different voice that came from the hind, but he could also tell that whoever this was, they weren’t any different from Artemis. Not to mention that this voice had called Artemis their sister.

Someone that could address a god like Artemis like that would surely be a god as well.

From what Lin Fan knew about mythology, the only one that could call Artemis that would be…

“I am Apollo, God of the Sun.”

It was what Lin Fan had expected, but there was still something that he didn’t understand. This hind was supposed to be the divine beast of Artemis, so how could Apollo be able to talk through it as well?

Even if they were siblings, it wasn’t as if they were the same god.

The two gods had different domains and since this hind was the divine beast serving Artemis, it wouldn’t be able to serve Apollo as well.

“Actually, we share this divine beast.”

Apollo’s explanation caught Lin Fan off guard and made him even more curious about all of this, but it didn’t seem like Apollo was planning on explaining any further about this.

Instead, Apollo brought the topic back to the matter of the hind as he said, “My sister never really thinks ahead about her requests, so she never really knows what she wants. Instead, let me propose the conditions instead.”

Lin Fan knitted his brows, but he didn’t say anything as he waited for Apollo to continue.

“I can tell that the one of the aura of a god that comes from you is from Weiss, which means that you’re connected to the dungeon system.” After a pause, Apollo added, “Well, I could see that you brought out something from that dungeon system just now, so that basically confirms it.”

A wry smile appeared on Lin Fan’s face hearing this as he didn’t know what to feel about a god admitting to peeking on him. But right now, there were more pressing matters that had to be solved.

Apollo was the same as he said, “The matter is very simple, just provide our little hind with the things that it needs to grow and we’ll call it even by letting it serve you for some time.”

“Is that really it?” Lin Fan couldn’t help asking after he heard this proposal.

“It isn’t as simple as you think. The things that I’m asking for aren’t that easy to find, it’s only easy with the dungeon system because it’s something that old Weiss has built up over countless years now. The resources available in that system are hard to compare to, even when it comes to us gods.”

A strange feeling filled Lin Fan when he heard this as he looked at the hind with a twisted expression.

However, Apollo just continued by saying, “This hind is still young, so it still needs many things to grow into a proper divine beast. We can’t give it what it needs, so we’ll have to find a way to provide the things that it needs to grow.”

“Is it still that young?” Lin Fan couldn’t help asking this question, but Apollo didn’t answer.

Instead, Apollo just simply asked, “Are you willing to accept this deal? This is the only way that we’ll allow you to take our little hind with you.”
