With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods - Chapter 1437: Through the gates

Chapter 1437: Through the gates
As Ye Qing Huan had said, they only went to one other spot.
After obtaining that thing from atop the hill, Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan made their way back to the path on the map.
Though there were still other spots that were marked, it didn’t seem like Ye Qing Huan wanted to have anything to do with them.
Lin Fan didn’t mind this either since excessive greed wasn’t a good thing.
They had already obtained one…well, two items that were considered good. Though he didn’t have an idea of how he would use the second item, he didn’t think that it would be that bad.
Which was why it was a good thing that they were heading to the next gate as soon as possible.
Though the one thing that Lin Fan did have to question was, “Are there really no signs of the others?”
Ye Qing Huan’s expression showed that this was something that had been on her mind as well. She also noted that there were no signs of the others that had come into the Dao Sect ruins with them.
In the end, the two of them just accounted this to the array that covered this place.
It was most likely hiding the signs of the others that had come in with them.
Or that was what they hoped it was.
Following the path, it didn’t take long for them to arrive at the fourth pavilion.
This pavilion was the same as the other pavilions where there was no sign of what would be the obstacle here. Only that didn’t matter since there were still trinkets that hadn’t been used yet and marks on the map.
As long as he had these trinkets, Lin Fan really wasn’t worried about making it through this pavilion.
Ye Qing Huan was the same as she already positioned herself right beside him.
It was as if she was getting ready to take his arm the moment that they stepped into the pavilion.
Lin Fan gave a secret bitter laugh when he saw this, but it wasn’t as if he stopped her since it would make things easier for them if she did this.
Instead, he turned his attention to the trinkets that were left.
…
“So that was the last one?” Ye Qing Huan looked at the wall that appeared behind them as she said this.
Lin Fan didn’t answer right away as he looked at the map he was holding.
After looking at it for a bit, he gave a nod to confirm this.
When he did, the expression on Ye Qing Huan’s face changed.
She knew that these pavilions that they had just passed through were nothing more than gates to the real Dao Sect. It could even be said that these pavilions were nothing more than trials that would see if they were worthy of reaching the real Dao Sect.
Which meant that whatever was coming up next would be the real deal.
This wasn’t something that she could just go along with anymore, she had to treat this seriously now.
Lin Fan had the same idea as Ye Qing Huan, which was why he wasn’t wasting any time as he studied the map while moving forward. While he had no idea what was waiting for them, it wasn’t as if they could go back at all.
Which was why he was planning on learning as much as he could about what was coming up.
Only it really didn’t seem like there was much to learn from the map.
The path itself seemed to end not long after the last pavilion, but it wasn’t as if this was the end of the map. The path itself only led halfway across all of the land that the map surveyed.
It was just that past the end of the path, there were quite a few marks that were there.
Just like the marks from before, Lin Fan had no idea what any of these marks meant.
It didn’t take them long to reach where the end of the path was.
Only when they arrived, there was one thing that was made very clear to them.
“This is the real gate.”
They had been calling those pavilions the gate to the Dao Sect, but seeing this real gate in front of them now made it clear that those were nothing more than checkpoints.
After all, they just simply couldn’t compare to this real gate.
“What are we supposed to do now?” Ye Qing Huan asked Lin Fan when she came back to her senses.
An awkward smile appeared on Lin Fan’s face as he thought to himself, “Even if you ask me this, who should I ask for the answer?”
He simply had no idea what he was supposed to do here either.
Even though he had the map that had guided them all the way here, it wasn’t as if there was anything that he could do since there was nothing that was here. Even though he looked closely at the map, he didn’t see a single marking that was at the end of this path.
It was as if whoever had drawn this map knew something that they didn’t.
After all, the person that drew this map was basically saying that there was no need for them to do anything special. They should already know the way to make it through this main gate.
Lin Fan couldn’t help cursing that person even though he didn’t know them at all.
But even if he cursed that person, it wasn’t as if they would be able to do anything about this gate. So he turned his attention back to the gate itself to see if there was anything that would allow them to get past this gate.
“There’s nothing at all.”
The Dao Sect’s main gate seemed to have been made with the idea of being as simple as possible. It didn’t seem like they had wanted to put anything extra on this gate.
“As expected of daoists…”
But this was bad since we wouldn’t be able to make it through this final gate even though we had come all this way. Not to mention the possibility of being trapped here forever since we didn’t have a way to return.
With those pavilions being locked down like that, there really was no way of leaving this place.
So the only way to go was forward…
“If I was a disciple of this place, what would I use to show that I was a part of the sect and open this gate?”
Lin Fan slowly looked up at Ye Qing Huan with a strange look when he heard this.
He didn’t know why she would suddenly say something like this, but he could tell that she was implying something with how she looked at him after saying this. It was clear that she was trying to get him to do something.
As for what that was…
After thinking about it, Lin Fan slowly understood what Ye Qing Huan meant by this and slowly started to remember that there was something else that he had gotten from the Highoak Family.
It was just that he didn’t think that this thing had a use since he had already used it back in the Highoak Family’s secret vault. He had thought that this was the only place that he would be able to use it.
But with Ye Qing Huan’s reminder, Lin Fan realized that this might not be the case.
This might be the place to use that thing.
Thinking this, Lin Fan took out the token of the Dao Sect that he had found in the Highoak Family’s secret room.
After taking out this token, there was a reaction that came from the gate in front of them.
It seemed like this gate recognized the token and accepted the token.
There was this click that came from the gate as if there was some kind of mechanism that was activated. Then after that, there was this light that came from the inside of the gate as it slowly opened to reveal the true form of the Dao Sect.
The inside of the Dao Sect was different from the rest of the Dao Sect that they had seen so far.
The moment that they saw the inside of the Dao Sect, they could tell that this place had the bearings of a proper ruling sect.
Only it wasn’t as if they were the only ones that were here.
It seemed like there were others that had appeared in this place before them, though it didn’t seem like they took the same route.
“So there were other routes. It was no wonder we didn’t see anyone.”
This solved one of the mysteries that they had been wondering about, but it didn’t help their situation. After all, they had become the center of attention for everyone once they stepped through the gate.
From what Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan could see, it seemed like coming through this gate meant something special.
The others had come from different paths and it seemed like there wasn’t a single path that had been on the same level as the one that they took.
Those paths could be considered side paths while this one that led them through the gate was considered the main path.
As such, there were many that wondered what kind of things Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan had passed through.
Or it was better to say that they were curious what kind of things Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan had found.
It was like they were being surrounded by a bunch of predators.
