Chapter 79: Ch 79: Malice Unveiled and Fierce Protection

The living room, once filled with warm laughter and playful chaos, now carried a heavy undercurrent of tension that thickened the air like an approaching storm.

Golden sunlight still filtered through the windows, but it felt colder somehow, casting long shadows across the sofas and floors. The soft background music continued playing, but it seemed distant and out of place against the rising storm of emotions.

Gu Chengze glared at Su Wanyan intently, his suppressed anger flaring up like a wildfire he could barely contain. How dare this inferior alpha! He screamed inwardly.

Seeing the four of them—Su Wanyan, Mo Xingxue, Shen Guoxing, and little Mo Yan—posing as if they were already a perfect family filled him with deep displeasure. But then that inferior trash not only shared an intimate gesture with his wife, she dared rest her head on Mo Xingxue’s thigh!

You dare! Gu Chengze fumed, glaring daggers at Su Wanyan, who was still listening attentively to Qin Yuran’s narration.

That perverted and malicious trash! He thought bitterly. Mo Xingxue hadn’t given any consent for her to rest her head there, yet she still did it? Not only that, she hadn’t even considered his feelings!

He then glanced at Mo Xingxue. And this slut! Gu Chengze thought viciously. She knew he was watching her, yet she still boldly dared to be intimate with another alpha right in front of him?

Good, good! Gu Chengze nodded heavily to himself, a dark smile curling at the corners of his lips. You really know how to make me jealous, Mo Xingxue! Closing his eyes, he forced himself to breathe. Gu Chengze, you’re the most outstanding one here, he repeated inwardly like a twisted mantra, trying to regain control.

When he opened his eyes again, his gaze on Mo Xingxue turned predatory and lust-filled. I’ll just have to punish her in the future, he thought, a dark anticipation blooming in his chest. Then he glanced at the child beside her. That kid.... Gu Chengze frowned. What rights does she think she has to sit beside my wife? The insolent child irritated him to no end.

He looked down at the gift in his hand and frowned. Lin Xuanyu had told him to buy it, but... His thoughts paused as he studied Shen Guoxing again, and his eyes suddenly lit up. Right. I can’t touch Su Wanyan because of the plan, but that doesn’t mean I can’t humiliate her using that brat, no? A low, dark chuckle escaped him.

Gu Chengze stood up and walked deliberately toward the child, his steps heavy with intent. Keeping his face coldly composed, he stopped right in front of Shen Guoxing.

The girl, who had been animatedly talking about all the places she wanted to visit with the three omegas watching her fondly, paused. She looked up at the looming shadow, meeting Gu Chengze’s cold eyes.

A wave of fear washed over her small frame, making her tremble. This uncle.. Shen Guoxing thought, no mistake this time—he looked exactly like those people from the hospital and her past. No, he was worse. While others had shown cold calculation, his eyes dripped with pure disgust and malice.

Shen Guoxing felt her heart tighten painfully, beating loudly in her chest. She winced, clutching at the unfamiliar ache. Ouch.... She wanted to press a hand to her heart, but she held back, not wanting to worry anyone around her.

In her own brave little way, she spoke up. "Ye-yes?" Shen Guoxing asked, her voice trembling and her eyes shaking with unmistakable fear.

Seeing her like that, Gu Chengze felt a dark satisfaction bloom in his chest. He said nothing at first, simply studying her. Now that he looked closer, the insolent child really did resemble Su Wanyan in certain ways. Gu Chengze scoffed, the satisfaction multiplying.

Seeing a miniature version of Su Wanyan fearing him filled him with twisted pleasure. He looked forward to the day the real Su Wanyan would look at him with those same fearful eyes and realize why she should never have crossed his path.

Gu Chengze silently handed Shen Guoxing the gift wrapped in luxurious paper. "Open it," he ordered coldly. Shen Guoxing blinked, set aside the other gifts she had received, and took it with shaky hands. "Thank you, Uncle," she murmured.

Gu Chengze merely scoffed. "Hurry up," he snapped, frowning at her slow movements. He clicked his tongue and glanced over his shoulder, noticing that Su Wanyan was now watching them.

Gu Chengze smirked. Good. Look. Look how I’ll humiliate your charity project, he thought, turning his attention back with a cold smirk. Mo Xingxue noticed immediately and wanted to push him away, but she stopped herself—there were still many cameras rolling.

She hugged Mo Yan tighter and instinctively pulled Shen Guoxing closer, protecting her children even as her own body shook with fear. Her chest tightened, her vision blurred, and nausea rose in her throat, but she held it all in.

Shen Guoxing noticed Mo Xingxue’s distress and obediently scooted closer, hastily tearing open the wrapper. When the luxurious paper finally came off, it revealed a beautiful, obviously expensive porcelain doll. Doll collectors watching the live broadcast couldn’t help but marvel at it.

[WHAT THE HECK?!]

[I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT I’LL SEE THAT MASTERPIECE IN A DATING SHOW!]

[OMG, OMG, IT’S SO PRETTY!]

[I WANT ONE OF THOSE!]

[BRUH, HOW MUCH MONEY DOES GU CHENGZE HAVE? I LOOKED THAT DOLL UP YESTERDAY AND SAW THAT IT WAS PRICED FOR 5,570 DOLLARS!]

[What the heck? Why is it so expensive?]

[Because it was created by a master doll maker, and not only is it a limited edition, the master only made 5 dolls like that.]

[And now that the master has died, one can only rely on auctions when you want to obtain that kind of doll.]

[Wow, so it’s limited LIMITED, huh?]

[Yeah. That’s why it’s so expensive.]

[Crazy...]

"Woah," Shen Guoxing marveled out loud. The doll was breathtakingly detailed—wearing an elegant princess-style gown, a delicate tiara, and intricate necklaces and bracelets.

The porcelain face was so lifelike that it almost seemed like it could come alive at any moment. Coming to that realization, Shen Guoxing felt a flicker of unease. She found it cute, yes, but its realism made her feel weird and a little scared.

Shen Guoxing looked up at Gu Chengze and thanked him sincerely, hiding her discomfort. "Thank you, Uncle," she said, bowing her head. Gu Chengze smiled thinly. "Is this your first time seeing this doll?" Shen Guoxing nodded.

Gu Chengze’s smirk deepened as he explained, "This is a limited edition doll made by a German master craftsman who has now passed away." He paused, then added with clear malice, "It’s natural for you not to know—after all, you’re just a bastard Su Wanyan took in."

Su Wanyan, who had been watching, stood up abruptly, leaving the two stunned alphas frozen by Gu Chengze’s cruel words. The omegas on the sofa stared in shock, their eyes widening at the atrocious statement. Even the staff exchanged stunned glances, as if questioning what they had just heard.

Gu Chengze, seemingly oblivious to the reactions, continued. "Did Su Wanyan ever get you one of these?" he asked, a sinister glint in his eyes. Shen Guoxing, snapping out of her daze, shook her head. "N-no," she said politely, holding back her tears.

Hearing that, Gu Chengze scoffed. "See? Even I, who have nothing to do with you, am kinder than your so-called guardian," he said, laughing inwardly at Shen Guoxing’s tearful expression. "How much has Su Wanyan really spent on you, little one? Be honest—does she complain when you keep getting si—"

Gu Chengze’s words were cut off as he was suddenly yanked back and punched hard in the face.

Gu Chengze’s expression shifted from shock to rage. "How dare yo—" Before he could finish, Su Wanyan punched him again, this time with even more force. A trickle of blood ran from his nose.

Su Wanyan grabbed his collar while he was still stunned. "Now listen here, you punk," Su Wanyan started, her naturally warm voice ice-cold, her eyes stinging with unshed tears. "You can talk shit about me all you want, but don’t bring her into this." She tightened her hold on his collar, deliberately choking him.

Gu Chengze clutched at her forearms, trying to shake her off, but she didn’t budge. She tightened her grip further, causing him to choke and cough. The guests were stunned into silence, not a single sound escaping them. The staff didn’t dare move, afraid they might draw Su Wanyan’s wrath. Even the barrage chat had gone completely quiet.

Gu Chengze continued struggling, but then Su Wanyan heard it clearly—Shen Guoxing’s soft, heartbroken sobbing. She paused, looked over, and saw the child silently crying while staring at her hands in a daze.

Su Wanyan panted, released Gu Chengze’s collar (causing him to fall onto his backside), and ignored him completely. She walked to Shen Guoxing and knelt in front of her. "Hey, hey," she called out gently, her own eyes watering.

Shen Guoxing remained lost in her daze, fresh tears streaming down. "Xing’er, Xing’er," Su Wanyan tried again, but to no avail. Su Wanyan’s heart broke at the sight. She reached out, took the expensive doll from Shen Guoxing’s hands, and harshly threw it aside like trash. Then she cupped both of Shen Guoxing’s cheeks with her hands. "Xing’er," she called softly again, wiping away the tears with her thumbs.

Finally, Shen Guoxing snapped out of it. "Huh?" she let out, looking at Su Wanyan in front of her. Seeing her aunt’s teary eyes, Shen Guoxing immediately worried. "What’s wrong, Aunt?" she asked, her own tears still falling. Su Wanyan pursed her lips and pulled her into a tight hug.

Shen Guoxing was startled but then noticed she was soaking her aunt’s clothes. She touched her own cheeks and felt the wetness. "Huh? Why am I crying?" she whispered, her breath quickening as her chest tightened painfully again. She gasped for air, her heart racing wildly.

Su Wanyan patted her back and lifted her into her arms, rocking her gently. "It’s okay, it’s okay," she murmured soothingly. "Aunt’s here."

At that, Mo Xingxue snapped out of her own daze and joined in, trying to calm the child while bouncing little Mo Yan, who also reached out as if trying to comfort her jiejie. Shen Guoxing looked at them through blurry vision, but she knew it was her Aunt Xingxue and her meimei.

"Breathe with me," Su Wanyan whispered close to her ear, demonstrating slow, calming breaths. Shen Guoxing followed, and after a few minutes, her breathing steadied. She hugged Su Wanyan’s neck tightly and cried in her aunt’s arms. Hearing the heartbroken sobs, Su Wanyan broke down too and cried with her.

I don’t care if the world will dub me as a villain, Su Wanyan thought, her arm supporting Shen Guoxing tightening protectively. If he dares do something to anyone I care about, I’ll make sure he pays it tenfold.
