Omegaverse: Salted Fish Life in the Yaoi Novel

Chapter 81: Ch 81: Quiet Comforts and Domestic Shenanigans

Chapter 81: Ch 81: Quiet Comforts and Domestic Shenanigans

The living room had grown quieter now that most of the guests had retreated upstairs in a flurry of frantic footsteps and muffled exclamations as they packed. The afternoon light had softened into a warm, golden haze, filtering gently through the tall windows and casting long, peaceful rays across the plush sofas and polished wooden floors.

Scattered gift wrappers and forgotten used cups still dotted the space, but the earlier chaos had settled into a calm, almost serene stillness. A faint, comforting scent of tea and fresh laundry lingered in the air, blending with the subtle floral notes from the plants near the balcony doors.

While everyone else fretted and hurried, Su Wanyan and Mo Xingxue remained deeply seated on the sofa, wrapped in a comfortable silence that felt anything but awkward. On the contrary, it was peaceful—the kind of quiet that wrapped around them like a soft, familiar blanket.

Su Wanyan stared down at her knuckles, tracing the faint redness where she had punched Gu Chengze earlier. I’m definitely a villain now, she thought, a small, wry smile tugging at her lips. She studied her hand with a pensive look, then chuckled softly, shaking her head as all the negative emotions slowly dispersed like morning mist under the sun. So be it.

As Su Wanyan studied her knuckles with a satisfied glint in her eyes, across the room, the viewers were having their own discussion.

[LMAO, LOOK AT THE PLAIN SATISFACTION IN HER EYES!]

[Not even an ounce of guilt... AS EXPECTED! WAY TO GO, SU WANYAN!]

[LMAO, oh how I desperately wish that Gu Chengze’s stocks will fall after this spectacle.]

[Unfortunately, his plot armor is strong af.]

["Plot armor" AS IF WHERE IN SOME NOVEL OR SHI, LMAO.]

[Fr fr.]

"What are you chuckling about?" Mo Xingxue asked, tilting her head with gentle curiosity. Su Wanyan turned her attention to her, drawn by the soft sound of her voice. Seeing Mo Xingxue’s elegant profile bathed in the warm light, Su Wanyan reached out almost instinctively and gently patted her head.

"Nothing," she said simply, her fingers applying light, soothing pressure. Mo Xingxue raised an eyebrow but didn’t press further, simply letting her alpha do as she pleased. Su Wanyan smiled gently at her, a quiet warmth blooming in her chest.

The two fell silent again, each lost in their own thoughts, yet perfectly content in the shared space. Su Wanyan scooted a little closer and gently rested her shoulder against Mo Xingxue’s.

Seeing her alpha’s clingy action, Mo Xingxue’s lips curled upward in a small, proud smile as she glanced toward the camera. She quickly wiped the expression away and simply held Su Wanyan’s hand in hers, their fingers intertwining naturally.

They remained like that, silent and comfortable, as soft rays of sunlight settled near their feet. The two women, each wearing a small but peaceful smile, created a beautiful, almost timeless picture that the fans couldn’t help but ogle at through the live broadcast.

[SCREENSHOT!! SOMEBODY TAKE A SCREENSHOT!!]

[I’M ON IT, BOSS!]

[ACKKKK, KILL ME! KILL ME! THEY’RE SO BEAUTIFUL!]

[...They’re so beautiful.... FUCK!]

[Aww, I’m so happy for ᶠYͧoͨᵏu!]

[LMAO, WHERE’D YOU EVEN FIND THAT?]

[Has anyone else seen Mo Xingxue’s proud smirk? No? Just me? Okeh....]

[Nah, I saw it too... and I have never EVER crashed out that hard in my short life.]

[Upstairs, are you okay?]

[OOH, Y’ALL STILL DIDN’T START YET?]

[Oh, we’ll start later after she finishes eating her food.]

[FYM "start"?? I AIN’T HAVING NO BABIES WITH YOU, PSYCHO! I’M ALREADY SU WANYAN’S WIFE!]

[...Hm.]

[OH, SHIT! I THINK YOU PISSED THEM OFF, TWIN!]

[Nah, she’ll get over it—HEY, WHY DO I HEAR HEAVY FOOTSTEPS OUTSIDE OF MY ROOM?]

[LMAO]

[We pray for your body.. and soul LOL!]

While the chat spiraled into its usual delightful chaos, with two particular commenters spreading their brand of playful mayhem, Su Wanyan and Mo Xingxue remained peacefully seated. Mo Xingxue let Su Wanyan play with her fingers, enjoying the serene expression on her alpha’s face.

Then Su Wanyan paused and looked up from Mo Xingxue’s shoulder. "Do... you..." she started, hesitating as the words caught in her throat. "Do I what?" Mo Xingxue asked softly, a gentle smile forming at the corner of her lips as she took in Su Wanyan’s docile appearance.

Su Wanyan stared at her in a daze, her gaze slowly lowering to Mo Xingxue’s lips. They look.. they look so kissable, she thought, her eyes lingering longer than she intended. Then she caught herself. Wait, what?! Su Wanyan asked inwardly, pulling back abruptly and straightening up, looking anywhere but in Mo Xingxue’s direction as heat flooded her face.

Meanwhile, Mo Xingxue laughed lightly at her behavior. She wasn’t blind—she had noticed Su Wanyan staring at her lips, even the subtle gulp. It didn’t take a genius to understand what Su Wanyan wanted in that moment.

Hearing Mo Xingxue’s chuckle, Su Wanyan blushed harder and stood up hastily. "O-oh, that reminds me.." she said suddenly, her eyes darting around nervously. "I-I think I fo-forgot to pack," she added. Then she winced inwardly. That’s a dumb excuse! Her embarrassment multiplied a hundredfold.

At that, Mo Xingxue laughed even harder. "We already packed before. What do you mean by that?" she asked, leaning back on the sofa with an amused smile. Su Wanyan felt like smacking herself for the lame excuse.

Just as she was lamenting her fate, her eyes landed on the mountain of shopping bags PD Xu Cui had left behind. Su Wanyan’s eyes brightened. She cleared her throat, mustering a confident act, and looked at Mo Xingxue. "Packing this, I meant," she said, gesturing toward the bags.

However, to the eyes of a legendary actress, Mo Xingxue could see right through Su Wanyan’s act. Even those without experience in performance could tell how easy Su Wanyan was to read in moments like this. Mo Xingxue looked at her with a small, knowing smirk. "Okay then~" she replied, deciding not to tease her alpha further.

Su Wanyan sighed in relief and began gathering the shopping bags. She noticed Mo Yan’s things as well and quietly picked those up too. Mo Xingxue noticed immediately and stopped her gently. "I’ll pack Mo Yan’s things," she said, smiling wryly. Su Wanyan looked at her and smiled back.

She set the bags down, placed her hands on Mo Xingxue’s shoulders, and gently guided her back to sit on the sofa. "Don’t worry, I’ll handle it," Su Wanyan said, patting Mo Xingxue’s head affectionately. "Just sit there. This is quite tiring," she added, turning her back and gathering the bags again.

Meanwhile, the whole barrage chat was in an absolute frenzy because of Su Wanyan’s actions.

[Her wife is so lucky.. sigh....]

[Mo Xingxue: I am indeed lucky.]

[Su Wanyan is never beating the green flag allegations.]

[SU WANYAN IS A GREEN FLAG, FR!]

[A GREEN FLAG WHO USUALLY BEATS PEOPLE UP!]

[People? Su Wanyan beats people?]

[Are you new? Su Wanyan already had punched Gu Chengze three times already.]

[No, I’m not new. And, I knew that.]

[Then why are you wondering if Su Wanyan beats people if you’ve already seen her do it?]

[Gu Chengze isn’t a human.. he’s an escaped animal from the zoo.]

[I—DAMN!]

[LMAO, BARS!]

While the chat spiraled into its usual delightful chaos—and a certain male lead’s aura seemed to be quietly transferring to Su Wanyan—Mo Xingxue felt her heart bloom with warmth again. She unconsciously brought a hand to the top of her head where Su Wanyan had patted her, and she couldn’t help but curl her lips upward.

Normally, it was always omegas who handled these domestic tasks, taught from a young age that such chores were their responsibility. An alpha volunteering for them was rare. What was even rarer was doing it openly on broadcast. Mo Xingxue felt her smile grow wider and warmer, feeling profoundly blessed that this alpha was hers.

Meanwhile, Su Wanyan painstakingly gathered the shopping bags into her arms. The reason she was carrying so many at once was simple—she didn’t want to make multiple trips back and forth.

Even after loading her arms with as many bags as she could manage, the pile barely seemed diminished. After gathering what she could, Su Wanyan sighed in relief. Now the only problem is figuring out which suitcase to put these gifts into.

Su Wanyan sighed again and walked toward their room, only to be stopped by a staff member. "Teacher Su!" the staff called out. Su Wanyan looked back. "Yes?" she answered, tilting her head slightly. The staff member gestured behind her, and two others brought out two large suitcases, setting them in front of Su Wanyan.

Su Wanyan looked at them in confusion. The leading staff member smiled wryly. "PD Xu Cui told us that you should place the children’s gifts in these," she explained, an embarrassed smile forming as she belatedly realize what Su Wanyan had been attempting.

Su Wanyan looked at the suitcases, then at the bags she was carrying, then back at the staff. She suppressed a soft chuckle. "Thank you," she replied, gently setting down the shopping bags.

The staff members waved goodbye, and Su Wanyan stared at the mountain of gifts and the two suitcases in a brief daze. She shook her head. Those cannot fit in two suitcases, she thought, then chuckled. Not like I was planning to, but still.

Su Wanyan looked at all the gifts and began separating the children’s toys, deciding not to bring most of them. After all, she and Mo Xingxue had already packed plenty of toys for the trip. Instead, she focused on the children’s clothes.

After successfully sorting everything, Su Wanyan gathered the bags containing toys and brought them to their room, planning to ask PD Xu Cui to send them to their respective houses.

After several back-and-forth trips, Su Wanyan sat on the floor and began folding the children’s clothes, carefully placing them into the suitcases. Meanwhile, Mo Xingxue remained on the sofa, watching Su Wanyan with a small, fond smile.
