On a Stormy Night, the Campus Belle Knocked on My Door Seeking Shelter
Chapter 315: Yuanyuan
"Don’t mention it. You’ll be living together from now on. You’re all roommates, so it’s only right that you help each other out." Lin Xiaoxiao’s mother said with a hearty laugh, then turned back to help her daughter unpack.
Su Yuqing did as Lin Xiaoxiao’s mother said, took out a dry towel, and carefully wiped down the bed frame and desk again. Only then did she open her suitcase and start putting her things away.
She didn’t have many things, but they were all neatly organized.
Clothes went into the closet; a few novels she had brought and a brand-new notebook were placed on the desk, along with a simple pencil case and a small stuffed rabbit—she hesitated for a moment, then gently placed it next to her pillow.
Lin Xiaoxiao was a chatterbox who couldn’t stay still, chirping away as she tidied up, "Wow, Yuqing, you’re so fast! I’ve been at this for ages and my stuff is still a total mess!"
She then looked at the novels on Su Yuqing’s desk. "You like this author’s books, too? I’ve read his..."
Although Zhao Ya wasn’t very talkative, she would purse her lips in a small smile when Lin Xiaoxiao exaggeratedly described some funny high school stories.
The dorm room was filled with the rustle of unwrapping packages, the zipping of bags, the concerned advice of parents, and the gradually familiar chatter of the girls—full of the lively, busy atmosphere of a new beginning.
No one bothered to introduce their majors. The very fact that they were in this room together meant they were already destined to be the closest of classmates for the next eight years.
The conversation naturally drifted to the dorm life ahead of them: the locations of the school’s main buildings, the rumor that the cafeteria food was on the spicy side, how to use the public bathhouse...
Su Yuqing listened, chiming in occasionally, but her hands never stopped moving.
Once she was more or less settled, she walked out onto the balcony to get some fresh air.
The balcony was spacious and offered an excellent view.
She instinctively looked toward Building B across the way, which was nearly identical, her gaze searching the fifth floor.
Almost instantly, she saw a familiar figure—Chen Mo was standing on the balcony of 504 across the way, waving at her!
Her heart skipped a beat, and a smile immediately blossomed on her face. She quickly raised her hand and waved back vigorously.
"Whoa~" Lin Xiaoxiao had appeared at the balcony door at some point. Following Su Yuqing’s gaze, she saw the handsome boy on the opposite balcony. She immediately broke into a teasing grin and nudged Su Yuqing lightly with her elbow. "Not bad, Yuqing! Is that your boyfriend? He’s so handsome!"
A blush instantly spread across Su Yuqing’s cheeks. With a shyness that couldn’t hide her happiness, she nodded lightly. "Mhm."
"That’s awesome! And he’s in the building right across from us! Does this mean you can shout back and forth to each other every day?" Lin Xiaoxiao gestured excitedly. "Hey, what’s his major? Is he in the eight-year program with us, too?"
"Yeah, he is," Su Yuqing replied softly, her gaze drifting back to the opposite building against her will.
Chen Mo seemed to point at his phone, and she immediately understood.
Sure enough, her phone buzzed. It was a message from Chen Mo: "All settled in?"
She looked down and quickly replied: "Mhm! My roommates are all nice. What about you?"
After sending it, she looked up and smiled at him again.
The corner of Chen Mo’s mouth quirked up, and he quickly sent back a message: "Mine are pretty good too. And it’s a pretty interesting mix."
Zhao Ya and Lin Xiaoxiao’s mother also walked over curiously, looking in the direction Lin Xiaoxiao was pointing. Kind smiles soon appeared on their faces.
"I was just wondering what kind of boyfriend a pretty girl like Yuqing would have. I didn’t expect him to be just as good-looking as you are," Lin Xiaoxiao’s mother said, surprised.
However, she was a bit prejudiced against overly handsome men. ’Good-looking guys tend to be players.’
She just couldn’t say it out loud in front of Su Yuqing.
She pulled her daughter back a few steps and secretly instructed, "When you look for a boyfriend, remember, looks are important, but character is more important. You have to keep your eyes wide open. Don’t let yourself get weak in the knees just because someone’s handsome."
Zhao Ya was also a bit surprised when she saw what Chen Mo looked like.
Even though there was a considerable distance between them, she could still make out most of his features.
Compared to Su Yuqing’s beauty, the handsomeness of the boy across the way was a perfect match.
She couldn’t help but look at Su Yuqing with a hint of envy.
’She’s beautiful and has excellent grades, fine, but to have such a great boyfriend on top of that...’
Just as they were standing on the balcony, laughing and talking about Chen Mo in the opposite building, a clear, energetic female voice, tinged with a slight complaint, suddenly rang out from the doorway: "Oh my god! I finally made it! I climbed five floors with my suitcase just to avoid the line! I really brought this suffering on myself. This is killing me!"
Before her voice had faded, the door was slammed open with a BANG by a large, hard-shell suitcase, which was emblazoned with the huge, eye-catching logo of a top luxury brand.
A figure burst in like a whirlwind.
The newcomer wasn’t particularly tall, but she had a well-proportioned figure and was brimming with energy.
She was wearing a well-tailored, high-quality, light pink athleisure set, a pair of limited-edition sneakers, and an expensive-looking smart sports watch on her wrist.
Her hair was tied in a high ponytail that swung with her movements. Her face was flushed from exertion, and tiny beads of sweat dotted her temples.
Her features were bright and striking, and her large, brilliant eyes darted around the room, full of curiosity and a "finally home" sense of relief.
Her makeup was exquisite but not overdone, and she wore a pair of small but stylish diamond stud earrings.
The most striking thing about her was this contradictory aura—her entire outfit cost as much as an ordinary person’s living expenses for several years, which should have given off an intimidating, unapproachable air of wealth. Yet, she exuded a boisterous friendliness and a down-to-earth charm.
"503! This is it, right, my sisters?" She grinned, revealing a set of pearly white teeth. Her smile was incredibly infectious, showing none of the airs of a stereotypical rich girl.
She casually pushed the expensive suitcase toward the middle of the room, sending it rolling with a RUMBLE, then nonchalantly wiped the sweat from her temple with the back of her hand.
Lin Xiaoxiao was a bit stunned, her gaze flicking back and forth between the girl’s obviously expensive clothes and her uninhibited way of wiping away sweat.
Zhao Ya’s mouth also fell slightly open in surprise.
Su Yuqing, on the other hand, felt that this new roommate had a strange sort of charisma.
"This is 503! Welcome, welcome! You must be our last roommate, right?" Lin Xiaoxiao snapped out of it and responded immediately.
"That’s right, that’s right! That’s me! I’m Zhou Yue. The Zhou from Zhou Yu, and the Yue from ’yuyue’ for ’happiness’! Please take care of me from now on, sisters. Just call me Yueyue." Her voice was loud, her self-introduction crisp and clean, and she even threw up a ’V’ for victory sign. "And you are?"
Hearing the nickname "Yueyue," Su Yuqing was momentarily dazed. In her mind, the image of Yuanyuan—another girl who was just as boisterous, carefree, and always smiling—suddenly overlapped with the Zhou Yue standing before her.
The two Yueyues really were a bit similar in personality.
