Chapter 317: Singles Mixer

No one had expected Chen Mo to find a girlfriend so quickly after starting university.

Apparently, they’d had the same misunderstanding as Zhou Yue.

Chen Mo could only explain that his girlfriend had gotten into the same university as him.

"Wow, that’s incredible. For a couple to both get into our school’s eight-year clinical medicine program... that’s seriously impressive."

"Let’s put that aside for now. We’re just sitting around the dorm with nothing to do, so how about we all go out together?" Chen Mo said with a smile, looking at his three roommates.

"Hell yeah! We have to go! Old Mo, your girlfriend’s roommate is awesome! So generous!"

Li Zhe, the more rational of the group, pushed up his glasses. "It wouldn’t be right to let the girls treat us the first time we meet, would it? It’d be better if we split the cost."

Shen Xinghe, who was arranging skincare products on his desk, looked up. His tone was placid, but a faint smile played on his lips. "You don’t have to overthink who pays. They can treat us today, and we can treat them tomorrow. It actually gives us a perfect excuse to ask them out again, don’t you think? If any of you have your eye on one of the girls, this is a great opportunity."

Hearing Shen Xinghe’s words, Wang Lan and Li Zhe immediately saw him in a new light.

"Let’s ask if they want to split it first. If they insist on paying, we’ll just accept their offer for now."

He knew full well how much guys could eat and felt bad about letting the girls pay for everyone.

When Su Yuqing saw his reply, she breathed a sigh of relief. Smiling at her three roommates, who were waiting with bated breath, she said, "They agreed, but they’re worried about Yuanyuan spending too much, so they offered to split it."

"No need to split it! It’s no big deal! The important thing is making new friends!" Zhou Yue waved her hand dismissively. "Then it’s settled! That hot pot place, ’Spicy Heaven,’ by the east gate. The online reviews say it’s the real deal! Tell them to meet us there."

Su Yuqing sent him the time and place and received a confirmation from Chen Mo.

"Alrighty! Our first co-ed university mixer. Let’s move out!" Zhou Yue announced with a goofy wave, making everyone laugh.

And so, a little over ten minutes later, the two groups successfully rendezvoused in front of "Spicy Heaven" Hot Pot by the university’s east gate.

The moment the two groups met, Su Yuqing froze.

She saw a girl of unreasonable beauty walking in step with Chen Mo.

For a moment, she couldn’t quite process what she was seeing.

As soon as the groups met, Wang Lan, being the most energetic, grinned and waved from a few steps away. "Hey, hey! You must be the ladies from 503, right? We’re from 504! So, which one is our sister-in-law?"

At his words, Zhou Yue, Lin Xiaoxiao, and Zhao Ya all turned in unison to look at Su Yuqing.

In an instant, Wang Lan’s face was a mask of pure envy and jealousy.

’Holy shit, life is so unfair. He gets good grades, he’s handsome, and his girlfriend is as gorgeous and graceful as a goddess descended from heaven. It’s enough to make anyone sick with jealousy.’

As the organizer, Zhou Yue naturally took the lead. She responded with a poised smile, "I’m Zhou Yue, but you can just call me Yuanyuan! This is Lin Xiaoxiao, Zhao Ya, and this is the ’sister-in-law’ you were asking about, Su Yuqing."

After the introductions, she winked mischievously at the guys and, playing along with Wang Lan’s term, asked, "So, which one of you is the ’big brother’?"

The other three girls already knew what Chen Mo looked like, but Zhou Yue had yet to see him.

But a quick glance at Chen Mo’s group of four left her quite surprised. Two of them were incredibly handsome.

One was conventionally handsome and sharp-featured. The other had a more androgynous look; "handsome" wasn’t the right word. He could only be described as unnaturally beautiful.

In fact, Zhou Yue’s first instinct was that he was a girl—she’d assumed Shen Xinghe was Chen Mo’s girlfriend, since they were walking together.

Wang Lan and Li Zhe were walking slightly ahead of the other two.

Since Wang Lan clearly wasn’t Su Yuqing’s boyfriend, that only left Li Zhe, who, with his glasses and nerdy vibe, fit Zhou Yue’s stereotype for the part.

But to her surprise, Wang Lan stepped back and said, "This is our ’big brother.’"

In truth, they didn’t actually call anyone ’big brother’; they were just playing along with the ’sister-in-law’ nickname for Su Yuqing. The four of them didn’t have any kind of hierarchy in the dorm—they were all equals.

Chen Mo just smiled and shook his head, then introduced his group. "I’m Chen Mo, Yuqing’s boyfriend. These are my roommates: Wang Lan, Li Zhe, and Shen Xinghe."

Wang Lan grinned. "Hello, beautiful ladies! I guess we’re all friends now. Hope we can all get along!"

The more reserved Li Zhe gave a slight bow. "A pleasure to meet you."

Shen Xinghe simply gave a cool nod and said, "Hello." His voice was clear and androgynous, which, paired with his unreasonably pretty face, made both Lin Xiaoxiao and Zhao Ya stare. They were speechless.

"Roommate?" All four girls turned to stare at Shen Xinghe in surprise.

"You’re a guy?" Zhou Yue blurted out, voicing the question on everyone’s mind.

"Mm-hmm~" Shen Xinghe replied with a soft chuckle.

That one smile was utterly captivating, more seductive than any woman’s.

Even Wang Lan and Li Zhe, who were standing beside him, were a little stunned.

The others still found it incredible. How could a guy be that beautiful? It was on a Succubus Level.

In the back of Su Yuqing’s mind, alarm bells started to ring.

During this first meeting, both sides sized each other up with polite curiosity. After the introductions, they all headed into a private room in the restaurant and began to order food.

Meanwhile, everyone continued to size each other up.

Among the girls, Su Yuqing’s beauty was in a league of its own. The other three were quite pretty as well, each with her own distinct appeal.

By any normal standard, they were all very attractive.

Just how pretty was a matter of taste, as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Zhou Yue was probably the most striking after Su Yuqing, perhaps because she was so well-dressed and took such good care of herself.

Her skin was flawless. As the saying goes, a fair complexion can hide many faults, and hers was pale, soft, and smooth. With features that were already attractive, it would be difficult for her to look anything but good.

Lin Xiaoxiao and Zhao Ya each had their own unique charm.

Zhao Ya had a quiet, classical elegance, while Lin Xiaoxiao was the picture of youthful beauty.

All four girls were quite the catch.

This prompted Wang Lan and Li Zhe to sneak more than a few glances their way.

Their minds were already racing, fantasizing about the possibility of starting something with one of them.

In contrast, looking at the guys’ side, Wang Lan and Li Zhe weren’t ugly, but they were average at best. Wang Lan was sturdily built, while Li Zhe had more of a nerdy, ’loser’ vibe.

The two of them wouldn’t have been seen as major contenders by the girls to begin with, but standing next to the exceptionally handsome Chen Mo and Shen Xinghe, they looked completely outclassed.
