The agony visible on the face of the Trampler rolling on the ground was heart-wrenching, as if he had been poisoned.

The Trampers carefully examined their comrade and found no injuries on him, then they glared viciously at Douglas.

"What exactly did you do to our comrade!"

"I did nothing; he charged at me like a wild boar, and then this happened!" Douglas said calmly, without a hint of panic, as if he was confident of victory.

"Bastard, I'll make you pay!" the leader of the Trampers roared angrily.

"Boss, there's a worm on Peterov..." After thoroughly examining the Trampler rolling on the ground, they had made a discovery.

The leader leaned in and saw a worm crawling under his comrade's skin.

"It itches, it itches, it itches! Save me, save me!" The Trampler named Peterov was pulling at his skin forcefully, seemingly trying to tear off the entire layer of his skin.

The leader of the Tramplers was enraged upon seeing the situation: "So this bastard is actually a lowly wizard!"

"Hey, don't talk nonsense; I'm not a wizard. That thing on him is just something from Brass, someone you admire. I merely placed this Blood-Sucking Worm on your man."

Igor understood that when the Trampler approached Douglas, Douglas had placed a Blood-Sucking Worm on him. Blood-Sucking Worms were malicious insects cultivated by wizards, originally used to drain bad blood mostly for medical purposes. But some Dark Wizards had enlarged this function excessively; their cultivated worms would invade a person's body, constantly sucking their vital essence until the person perishes...

The Trampers didn't have a good solution for the Blood-Sucking Worms as they usually employed rough methods. One Trampler took out a dagger and dug out the worm from Peterov's body.

Splat, the Blood-Sucking Worm fell down, wriggling on the ground, clearly full of blood and satisfaction.

With one step, the leader of the Trampers stomped on it, and with a splat sound, the insect worm turned into fragments. From this step, Igor could tell the leader possessed powerful strength.

After all, Blood-Sucking Worms were not that weak; ordinary people could not easily kill them. Once they attached themselves to a person's skin, they would burrow inside and begin devouring...

But that the leader could stomp the insect to death showed he was quite capable.

"You scoundrel, I want you to die a painful death!" At this moment, the leader seemed extremely furious, disregarding business with Brass, he directly took out a horn from his cloak.

Mantai People always carried two things; one was a weapon, and the other a horn, using it akin to speaking; many times, the horn replaced language.

Igor also understood what this horn meant, indicating a Mantai attack; it seemed these seven were just a part of it and the Mantai People had more forces behind them.

Woong—

The muffled sound of the horn resonated, able to travel far, it's said Mantai People use this horn to command their mounts, guiding them to advance orderly in pursuit of the sound.

After the horn sounded, Igor sensed a slight movement on the ground, as if cavalry was charging from not far away.

The sound of cavalry trampling the earth reverberated in the air, riders shouting loudly as their figures gradually emerged over the distant horizon.

"Crush them!" The leader glared viciously at Douglas, evidently ready for battle.

As the cavalry approached, Igor saw the form of these riders in a brief moment. They were Mantai Empire's wolf cavalry, notoriously powerful in battle. Igor, seeing wolf riders for the first time, noticed these massive Grey Plain Wolves, larger than horses, viciously sprinting.

These wolf riders had their eyes covered, seemingly running to the sound, the knights on their backs brandishing their swords wildly.

Ow-ow-ow—Such is the Mantai People's battle cry, earth-shaking, nearly collapsing the small tavern.

There were about a dozen riders, seemingly not large in scale, but their target was only Douglas standing there.

A dozen riders against one man, it was truly an overwhelming force.

The potency of cavalry is formidable; four riders forming a square can crush an entire infantry phalanx. And these are wolf riders, larger in stature and more powerful, one person simply couldn't prevail.

Yet Douglas didn't exhibit much fear; he seemed uninterested in the wolf riders.

"Such a commotion, it might flatten the entire tavern," Douglas sighed, showing more concern for the tavern's safety.

"Return our knives!" Without mounts, the Mantai People rushed at Douglas, daggers in hand, disregarding Peterov's prior ordeal.

Douglas's figure flickered; no one saw his movement clearly, and by the time their vision normalized, Douglas already stood before the cavalry.

The Trampers retrieved their knives, yet felt a peculiar sensation, the knife handles seemed overly hot.

Before they recovered from this overwarm feeling, changes arose among the charging cavalry.

The leader's mount had been unexpectedly mounted by Douglas.

How Douglas had accomplished this, no one could see.

Now the scene was riders halted, without exception, the force of their charge causing them to sway, had their riding skill been less they might have flown off the wolf's backs...

The leader's mount kept leaping, attempting to throw Douglas off, yet Douglas clung like sticky dough, unable to be dislodged.

The leader's mount being involved, no one dared act rashly.

Choosing not among empty mounts but specifically the leader's, truly insidious.

"So fast!" The anomaly beside Igor exclaimed again, obviously invested in Douglas's performance.

Igor scratched his head, pondering.

These riders were fast by nature, Mantai attacks known for speed, but now their assault seemed fragmented, disjointed, akin to slow motion.

Douglas's rhythm was indeed formidable!
