One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 1413 - 1410: Masterful Skills
Douglas's transformation was sudden, but it didn't catch the attention of the Trampler opposite him. These Tramplers paid no heed to such subtle changes. Once they set their sights on a target, they wouldn't give up easily. They were a stubborn bunch.
There were seven Tramplers in total, with their leader in the middle, still rambling on. Although Kayne's official language wasn't perfect, it was fluent enough. It was clear this group of Mantai People had lived in Kayne for quite some time.
"Douglas, don't play any tricks. We initially wanted to lure you out, but since you've delivered yourself right to us, we won't need to go through the trouble of setting traps!"
Igor felt quite helpless about the Tramplers' words. Could the Mantai People surpass the Hunter in the realm of traps? It was like trying to break a rock with an egg.
The unfolding situation in front of him seemed interesting to Igor, yet he was a bit itchy himself. For some reason, he felt uncomfortable being forgotten by the Mantai People as if he were a rarity.
So he began to caress the Meteor Sword in his hand, intending to give the Mantai People a little hint.
The odd man in front of Igor noticed this and pressed down on the raised sword with his finger. It was an impressive action, showing extraordinary skill, as Igor's speed when drawing the sword was quite fast.
"You are..." Igor was a bit puzzled.
"Didn't Douglas just tell us not to destroy anything in this tavern?" The strange man shrugged, expressing his viewpoint.
"Sigh, I don't want to cause destruction either, but these Tramplers won't leave!" Igor expressed helplessness, for fights were hard to control.
"Douglas will naturally have a way; don't worry." The odd man smiled calmly, still seated without getting up.
Hearing this, Igor sheathed his sword, deciding not to dwell and instead observe for now. Perhaps Douglas would surprise them with his extraordinary skills.
The Tramplers kept chattering nonstop, but these people left a different impression on Igor compared to the Mantai People he remembered. They were far from the bold and decisive Mantai People.
Suddenly, Douglas darted out like a cat, without any hesitation. Igor felt a gust of wind rush before them; it was incredibly swift.
He then noticed the Tramplers were standing dazed in the tavern, their knives having turned into thin air...
"What the..." The Tramplers' leader was baffled, wondering how the weapons disappeared and what was going on!
For the Mantai People, weapons were as crucial as life itself. Their attachment to their weapons was so strong that they never parted from them. Every adult Mantai's ceremony involved a dance with knives. Everyone knew this. On the battlefield, Mantai People always cherished their weapons, ensuring that as long as the knife was intact, so were they.
Now, with their knives mysteriously disappearing, it was akin to a death sentence for them.
This was a tremendous humiliation!
Several Mantai People couldn't hold back their anger and began to roar.
Another Mantai, enraged, pounded the ground with his fist, causing a crack in the floor, leaving the tavern owner utterly stunned.
Such strength, if used to fight within the tavern, could demolish the entire place!
This was truly terrifying, making the tavern owner tremble involuntarily.
"Douglas!" The Tramplers' leader shouted angrily, "Give me back my knife!"
It wasn't until then that Igor, with his mouth agape, felt his facial muscles starting to ache—that was from having his mouth wide open for so long...
Douglas had vanished, seemingly using the Hunter's Stealth Ability again. This skill was remarkably hidden, making it impossible to find him, and Igor also noticed that a necklace on the ground was gone...
In such a short span, how did Douglas accomplish this? It was truly astonishing.
"So this is what a master thief is like!" The odd man opposite Igor whispered, evidently intrigued by the unfolding events.
"Want your knives back? Then get out of the tavern!"
Douglas's voice echoed from outside; he was clearly no longer in the tavern!
"Bastard!" A Trampler angrily dashed out, causing the tavern door to swing back and forth. The tavern owner knew if this door swayed only one way, it would soon be smashed by fighters. So they had made the tavern door small and able to swing both ways; you could push or pull to open it. Inside the tavern, the door was never locked, because once fixed, it would be broken by fighters. After all, people kept falling out and into this door almost daily...
Just like the Mantai who had just dashed out, in the past, it would make quite a commotion if forcefully thrown in or if he threw someone else in...
However, this time, the guy fell silent, followed shortly by a pitiful scream piercing the sky.
"Ah! Boss, save me!"
The Tramplers hurried out. Having just lost their beloved weapons, were they now going to lose their comrades too...
Igor and the odd man followed them outside, even the tavern owner sneaked to a corner and peered out the window, eager to see what had occurred!
They saw the burly Mantai, who had charged out first, rolling on the ground, no visible injury on him.
And Douglas was standing nearby, precisely in the center of a circle of knives that he had seized and planted into the ground—seven of them, forming a circle around him.
"Your knives are right here; if you want them, come and get them!" Douglas's face was plastered with a wicked smile; he appeared rejuvenated, handsome now, though his white hair still stood out.
"Such remarkable skill!" Igor exclaimed in admiration, feeling Douglas was like Lightning—so fast, he could barely keep up!
The Tramplers, gritting their teeth, watched their comrade, who continued to writhe in pain on the ground.
