Chapter 1423 - 1420: The Death of Brass (Part 2)

  • Next Chapter

Brass is already dead!

Emile simply couldn't believe this news because, in his eyes, Brass was an omnipotent existence.

Amoon was also slightly surprised. He had some understanding of Brass, and the investigations he was currently conducting were related to Brass. This Brass was always a trafficker, extracting things from adventurers with class. During the recent interrogation, Amoon heard that it seemed like Brass wanted to extract something akin to a transparent glowing nut, and the young man named Igor had mentioned a term called 'Spirit Core' before. He felt there was some connection here, and he was quite sensitive to these things. Moreover, he felt a great sense of closeness to the spirit power emanating from Igor...

But there was no time to consider these matters now, as the current focus was on how Brass died.

"How could Brass possibly be dead!" Emile almost roared!

"Whether you believe it or not, that's the truth!" Douglas said helplessly.

Such things indeed left people feeling very astonished.

Not everyone could understand Douglas's helplessness, nor could everyone comprehend Emile Klars's collapse.

But these matters only concerned a few people. Aside from Amoon, Igor, and Emile, the others were constantly groaning, as the ropes binding them were exerting unexpected power, growing tighter and causing suffocation...

"You, did you kill him?" Amoon looked at Douglas in surprise. It wasn't that he didn't believe Douglas, but he felt that Brass's strength shouldn't warrant such an outcome. While Douglas was strong, he couldn't have harmed the trafficker so effortlessly and completely unscathed.

"No, I didn't kill him. He just died in front of me." Douglas shrugged and said calmly, displaying a very composed side to such matters.

"Then who exactly killed him?" Igor asked directly, filled with curiosity.

"I really can't say for sure." Douglas said softly, as the scene had been quite mysterious for him. However, being someone who had roamed the world, he had a strong ability to adapt to such situations.

"You actually harmed Brass! You actually killed him!" Emile roared in a breakdown, his eyes opened wide, staring fiercely at Douglas with an expression of extreme hatred, as if he could crush his opponent to death if he were free to act!

"Don't speak recklessly. I'm Douglas, not some utterly ruthless character like you lot." Douglas suddenly said sternly, showing no fear of Emile's accusations.

Igor and Amoon were both puzzled, wondering why Douglas appeared so emotional at this moment. It was simply unreasonable. Clearly, he had stated that Brass was dead, and it was normal for everyone to suspect him. Not just Emile, even Amoon and Igor believed Douglas was the one who killed him.

"Even if my reputation is bad, I've never done anything related to murder, not even animals." Such words left Igor and Amoon quite shocked. As an adventurer with class, participating in battles was a given, and battles involved fatalities, so no adventurer ever dared to claim they hadn't killed. For Douglas to say he hadn't killed anyone was an exceptionally frightening statement to everyone.

"As a Hunter, I'm only interested in my prey, but I've never taken a single cent from the poor. I steal, but I would never steal from righteous people!" Douglas seemed to be explaining his style, as if emphasizing that he wouldn't be like others, and that he was a thief of noble character.

Igor shrugged, puzzled by how erratic Douglas's thoughts became when he grew emotional. What was he even saying? It made no sense. After all, at this moment, neither Igor nor the others cared about what kind of person Douglas was. They cared about Brass...

Though Igor hadn't even seen what Brass looked like...

"Hey, Douglas!" Amoon interrupted Douglas's explanation mercilessly, feeling that they couldn't allow Douglas to ramble on like this. They needed to understand the cause and effect of the situation.

Douglas had a lot of respect for Amoon, and just with Amoon's one comment, he fell silent.

"Why don't you explain the circumstances surrounding Brass's death, in as much detail as possible?" Amoon suggested once he saw Douglas cooperating.

"The course of events wasn't complicated; it's just that this Brass was a bit strange." Douglas said lightly.

"Strange?" Igor was slightly thoughtful, suddenly feeling that many things were peculiar, as if they shared a commonality.

"In what way was he strange?" Amoon asked, "Be more specific."

"I feel like there was another person living inside Brass's body!" Douglas stated, presenting his speculation.

The entire matter was very peculiar, but Douglas was the only one who knew the exact process, as only he had experienced it all.

He had approached Brass because Brass was an utterly ruthless guy. Brass had publicly declared he would catch the divine thief Hanter, which made Douglas feel very irritated as he thought Brass was too arrogant.

After all, he was a renowned figure in the entire adventurer community. His capabilities weren't something that could be easily doubted. It wasn't that simple to catch him. He had to show this Brass some color... give him a lesson.

So Douglas went to steal from Brass...

Yet during the operation, he found that Brass was arguing, even though there was no one else by his side.

At the time, Douglas had a moment of glee because when a person's emotions run high, their attention becomes very weak, and that's precisely the chance to strike.

Though he didn't understand what madness Brass was having, he knew clearly that this was the moment to steal Brass's personal item.

The amulet was stolen just like that...

But Douglas didn't expect that the moment he got the amulet, Brass's eyes filled with blood! Then in an extremely unusual way, Brass collapsed in front of Douglas, with blood pouring from his eyes, mouth, ears, nose...
