Chapter 1432 - 1429: How Could This Happen

Igor felt increasingly confused.

He didn't have the time to listen to Douglas and Amoon discussing the analysis of the identity of these six people within the Gaoju family.

Because he felt that the current situation was completely chaotic, he couldn't find his way anymore.

They were originally here to investigate the cause of Brass's death, to see whether Brass had died due to an anomaly during the backlash of Soul Devourer.

By investigating this clearly, perhaps they could deduce where the mastermind was hiding.

But upon arriving here, they found things were far from simple. The Earth Leech had made their investigation more difficult, and now this group from the Gaoju family appeared, adding to the chaos.

These Earth Leeches - whether deliberately placed or always here, it was uncertain - but why were these Gaoju family members here? Are they related to Brass? These were all questions that were troubling Igor.

Igor didn't know what to do; the more he thought, the deeper it seemed, and the complexity of the situation grew.

The grudge between the Gaoju family and the Sol family was known to him, and the Gaoju family's dealings with Governor Rostov were also shrouded in uncertainty. Thus, in Igor's mind, the Gaoju family had no good reputation, appearing as ruthless villains.

Moreover, the Gaoju family was now stirring up chaos in the Vero Realm, having usurped the throne from Queen Wensi, committing treason! A family without royal blood suddenly ascending the throne so flamboyantly was despicable across the entire Yowein Continent.

Yet, Igor couldn't understand why the Gaoju family members were here.

Could it be that the Gaoju family was also connected to the Soul Devourers?

Things were so out of the ordinary.

Igor couldn't comprehend it, as he felt the Soul Devourers' power wasn't strong enough to encompass the whole Yowein Continent. Having dealt with them at the Border Realm, Igor knew they sent their elites into this world but couldn't fully control it, much less an Empire. The Kayne Realm was a prime example.

Igor at this moment was unaware that all his guesses were wrong. The Soul Devourers were already controlling an Empire.

Even though Igor and his team had previously analyzed that the turmoil in the Wensi Empire and the Mantai Empire was due to the Soul Devourers, Igor still didn't believe the Soul Devourers could control everything...

This only showed that Igor was still young, with much to experience.

Compared to Igor's wild imagination, Douglas and Amoon remained much more settled, taking turns observing the Gaoju family members in their respective fields.

"These assassins have special equipment that compensates for their shortcomings," Douglas explained from a professional standpoint about the Gaoju family members' features.

"You mean they took shortcuts," Amoon asked, concerned about taking shortcuts.

"You could say that. Though old families have many secrets and secret techniques, not many use this kind of thing for action. They usually carry tamed creatures, rare ancient species. But these people's items can be mass-produced with enough material and the collaboration of Wizards and Alchemists."

"I can tell these clothes carry a strong scent of Alchemy Potion, a fusion of material and potion with side effects but remarkable power," Amoon said, his Substance Sensing Skill playing a significant role, revealing many differences in these magical items.

"These issues are superficial. We need to think about why they're here and why they're attacking us!" Douglas mused, showing a serious intensity.

"Maybe this group is the mastermind behind Brass," Amoon speculated. He had been following Brass for some time, working hard on the matter. He knew Brass's habits and residence, but hadn't discovered who Brass's superior was.

Seemingly, Brass would meet his superior in his sleep, leaving no trace, perplexing Amoon.

"These people lack any markings; I don't think they're Brass's superior but rather deadly operatives monitoring Brass," Douglas believed.

"From these bodies, answers might be hard to come by. Brass is dead, the Trampler exiled, ending the dark transactions in Mist Town," Amoon expressed relief.

"They exploited this gap, knowing many flowed into Mist Town, especially adventurers with class fleeing death from battlefields. The border areas were chaotic, ungoverned, and they took advantage of this loophole!"

"Yes, with unending wars, the border will never be peaceful."

Douglas and Amoon's sentiments deepened, gradually transcending the original issue.

"So what should we do now?" Igor interrupted the senior duo's discourse at an inopportune moment. He felt it was necessary to solve his inner puzzle, otherwise, he wouldn't be at peace.

"You're right, facing fragmented clues, I think we need to take a trip to the Vero Realm," Douglas suggested.

"Oh, so you're not without a goal, Master Thief!" Amoon was surprised by Douglas's decision, expecting him to bid farewell here.

"This group," Douglas pointed at Brass's desiccated corpse, "killed my best friend. I have to seek justice for my friend."

"But you don't hurt people; how will you seek justice?" Amoon remained curious about Douglas's methods.

"I have my own ways," Douglas replied calmly.

The dialogue once again left Igor sidelined. Although it had answered Igor's question, it also provided him with a response...

Igor could only scratch his head, listening to their sporadic chit-chat, and gradually calming his inner turmoil...

It seemed they really needed to visit the Vero Realm. How did it come to this? Igor found it incomprehensible once more!
