Chapter 69 Persuading Kaya's Parents

  • Next Chapter

Kaya’s father didn’t react much upon hearing Kaguya’s words.

“I already knew this. Our benefactor killed the nefarious Major Mouse; you are not a pirate, but a hero.”

The words of Kaya’s father caused the atmosphere in the courtyard to relax.

After the minor interlude, everyone returned to the villa.

Considering they were in someone else’s home, the four of them each chose a room.

The next day, after breakfast.

Kaguya spoke with Kaya’s parents about her situation.

“I understand your love for your daughter, but Kaya’s condition isn’t an illness; it’s weakness.”

“Therefore, to restore her health, she doesn’t need medicine, but proper exercise.”

“For the next few days, I will lead Kaya through some appropriate exercises to gradually strengthen her physique.”

“You can keep an eye on her changes.”

Kaya’s parents looked at each other, their eyes filled with both worry and anticipation.

Kaya’s mother gently took her daughter’s hand.

“Is it really okay? The doctors have always said Kaya needs rest…”

“Overprotection will only make her more fragile.”

Kaguya said, gentle yet firm.

“Proper exercise can promote blood circulation and strengthen the immune system.”

“Look at Nami; she grew up at sea and is very healthy.”

Nami timely showed off the muscle lines on her arm, winking proudly.

“Then… we’ll leave it to you.”

Kaya’s father finally nodded.

Over the following week, Kaguya continued to lead Kaya through appropriate training.

The week of training passed quickly, and Kaya’s changes surprised everyone.

Her once pale cheeks now had a healthy flush, and she no longer walked as weakly as before.

This morning, Kaya even took the initiative to suggest going for a morning run by the sea with Kaguya.

“Papa, Mama, look!”

Kaya excitedly spun around in the courtyard, her skirt fluttering in the wind.

“I can run through the entire garden in one go now!”

Kaya’s mother’s eyes reddened slightly as she tightly held her husband’s hand.

Kaya’s father nodded in relief and turned to Mr. Kaguya, bowing solemnly.

“Mr. Kaguya, not only did you save our lives, but you’ve also given Kaya a new life.”

Just then, Merry came out of the house.

“Master, the people from the Chamber of Commerce are back and are waiting for you at the beach.”

“Good.”

Kaya’s father nodded, then looked at Kaguya.

“Lord Kaguya, the people who went to Loguetown to trade the pirate ships and collect the bounties have returned.”

“Let’s head over.”

Kaya’s father led Kaguya’s group to the beach, where a brand-new merchant ship was quietly anchored.

A well-dressed middle-aged man walked forward quickly and bowed respectfully.

“Master, the transaction went very smoothly.”

The Chamber of Commerce Manager wiped the sweat from his forehead, his face showing unconcealable joy.

“Those pirate ships sold for a good price, and with the bounties collected, it’s a total of 57 million Berries.”

“Thank you for your hard work. Hand the Berries over to Lord Kaguya.”

“Yes!”

The Chamber of Commerce Manager immediately called his subordinates to bring out crates of Berries.

“Nami, you and Nojiko take those Berries back to the Longteng Wanli.”

“No problem~”

Nami’s eyes sparkled as she went to receive the Berries.

Under the envious gazes of everyone, the two girls flew toward the Longteng Wanli with the Berries.

After handling everything, they all returned to the villa area.

“You two, there is something I need to ask for your consent on.”

“Lord Kaguya, you’re too kind. Please, speak.”

“I have decided to take Kaya to sea.”

“Kaya has also agreed.”

Kaya’s parents were stunned; the teacup in her mother’s hand almost slipped.

Her father took a deep breath, his voice trembling slightly.

“Go to sea? This… Kaya has been weak since she was a child, and the waves at sea are so rough…”

“Father!”

Kaya suddenly took a step forward, her eyes shining with an unprecedented light of determination.

“I am no longer the sickly person I used to be.”

“This week of training has made me realize that true health isn’t hiding in a greenhouse, but bravely facing challenges.”

She gently took Kaguya’s hand.

“And with Lord Kaguya and my companions here, I won’t be in any danger.”

Looking at his daughter’s firm gaze and rosy face, Kaya’s father fell silent for a long time before finally letting out a long sigh.

“It seems our daughter has truly grown up.”

He turned to his wife and found that she was already in tears, yet she nodded gently with a relieved smile.

“Alright then.”

Kaya’s father stood up and bowed solemnly to Kaguya.

“Please, be sure to take good care of Kaya.”

“I will protect every one of my companions with my life.”

Kaguya responded with equal solemnity.

They stayed at Kaya’s house for one more day.

The next morning, as the sun was rising.

Kaya packed her bags early and stood at the villa entrance, her eyes full of longing for the future.

Her parents stood nearby; her mother kept adjusting her collar, her eyes filled with tears of reluctance.

“Mama, don’t worry, I’ll call you often.”

Kaya gently hugged her mother, her voice soft yet firm.

“Kaya, remember to take care of yourself.”

Her father patted her shoulder, trying to hide his reluctance.

Kaguya stepped forward and smiled.

“It’s getting late; we should head out.”

Kaya’s parents accompanied them all the way to the seaside, watching their daughter board the majestic Longteng Wanli.

After feeding Moomoo a piece of Sea King meat, Moomoo happily bit the towline and led the Longteng Wanli slowly away from the shore.

Kaya stood on the deck, waving her arms vigorously, the sea breeze blowing her long blonde hair.

Her parents stood on the shore until the ship became a small black dot on the horizon before turning away reluctantly.

“Come on, it’s time to start today’s exercise.”

Kaguya walked over to Kaya and gently patted her shoulder.

The girl turned around, her face still carrying the sadness of parting, but her gaze had become firm.

“Mhm!”

Kaya nodded vigorously and followed Kaguya to the training area in the middle of the deck.

Nami and Honey Queen were doing warm-up exercises there; seeing Kaya approach, they both showed gentle smiles.

Before long, Nojiko also emerged from the cabin.

“Kaguya, I’ve already ordered a batch of Sea King meat from the Loguetown Chamber of Commerce.”

“We can pick it up directly once we reach Loguetown.”

“Understood.”

Kaguya nodded.

With the sea breeze gently caressing them, the five of them began a new day of training on the deck of the Longteng Wanli.
