One Piece : I Became a Monster Just by Eating
Chapter 70 Revisiting Foosha Village
As the sun set, the outline of Foosha Village appeared on the distant horizon.
“Kaguya, we’ll be in Foosha Village soon.”
Nami put down her telescope and called out to Kaguya, who was resting in a lounge chair.
“Got it~”
Kaguya put down her cup and stood up, walking to the bow of the ship.
“Hmm, no warship. That old man Garp isn’t in Foosha Village.”
After observing with the telescope, Kaguya didn’t see the familiar dog-head battleship and let out a slight sigh of relief.
“Moomoo, speed up. Let’s reach Foosha Village before sunset.”
“Moo~”
Moomoo pulled the dragon soaring ten thousand miles rapidly towards Foosha Village.
The moment the sun disappeared below the horizon, the dragon soaring ten thousand miles docked steadily at Foosha Village’s pier.
The villagers who were mending fishing nets on the shore stopped their work, looking at the majestic large ship in surprise.
“You all stay on the ship and rest.”
Kaguya said to the several women beside him.
“Are you coming back to sleep tonight?”
Nami asked playfully.
“Of course I’m coming back to sleep.
Where else would I sleep if I didn’t come back?”
“That’s not necessarily true~”
Nami winked meaningfully.
“Are you asking for a beating? Just wait until I get back tonight to deal with you.”
After slapping Nami’s perky bottom, Kaguya leaped off the dragon soaring ten thousand miles.
“What is Brother Kaguya going to do?”
Kaya looked at Nojiko and the others curiously.
“Master is going to find you a big sister~”
Honey Queen smiled as she took Kaya’s hand and walked towards the lounge.
After Kaguya jumped off the ship, he headed straight for Makino’s bar.
When the villagers on the shore saw someone disembark from the dragon soaring ten thousand miles, they began to whisper among themselves.
Several bolder young men even followed behind Kaguya, wanting to find out what was happening.
Pushing open the wooden door of the bar, the familiar scent of malt wafted out.
Makino was wiping glasses behind the bar, and hearing the doorbell, she looked up.
“You are…”
Makino found Kaguya familiar but couldn’t recall him at the moment.
“Beautiful Miss Makino, have you forgotten?
The small forest, guiding Luffy.”
Hearing Kaguya’s hint, Makino immediately remembered who Kaguya was.
“It’s you. I’m sorry, sir, but the bar is closed. If you want a drink, please come back tomorrow.”
Makino gently placed the wiped glass back on the shelf, her eyes showing a hint of wariness and curiosity.
Kaguya gave her a mysterious feeling, appearing suddenly two years ago, guiding Luffy, and then disappearing just as suddenly.
“I’m not here for a drink.”
“There’s no food either.”
Makino gently shook her head, folding the rag and placing it aside.
“None of those are the purpose of my visit.”
Kaguya shook his head, then looked directly at the mature and gentle Makino.
“Then you…”
“I have only one purpose for coming here, and that is Miss Makino. Two years ago, when I first met Miss Makino, I fell in love with you at first sight. For these past two years, I’ve trained desperately, and now I believe I can protect Miss Makino, so I’ve specially come to invite Miss Makino to sail the seas with me.”
Kaguya was spouting nonsense with a serious face.
Makino’s cheeks instantly flushed, and the rag in her hand unconsciously tightened.
She hadn’t expected Kaguya to express his feelings so directly, and for a moment, she didn’t know how to respond.
“Sir, please don’t make such jokes…”
She slightly turned her face away, avoiding Kaguya’s burning gaze.
“I’m not joking.”
Kaguya took a step forward, placing his hands on the bar, his gaze firm and gentle.
“Miss Makino, for the past two years, your smile has lingered in my heart. I know this is sudden, but please give me a chance to prove my sincerity.”
The atmosphere in the bar became subtle, as if the air itself had solidified.
Kaguya awarded himself a small golden statue in his heart for his performance.
Makino took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.
“But… I don’t know you well, and I also have a bar to run here…”
Her voice was soft, yet carried a hint of hesitation.
“The bar can be entrusted to someone you trust, or we can often come back.”
Kaguya smiled slightly.
“As for getting to know each other, we can take our time. I’ll show you the real me.”
Just then, the bar door was pushed open again, and several young men who had followed peeked in.
Seeing this, Makino’s face flushed again.
“The bar is closed. You can come back tomorrow.”
Makino quickly walked over and closed the door, turning around to find Kaguya already behind her.
Makino was startled by Kaguya’s sudden closeness, instinctively stepping back half a step, her back pressing against the wooden door.
She looked up into Kaguya’s smiling eyes, her heart racing uncontrollably.
“You, you shouldn’t do this…”
Makino’s voice was as light as a feather, her fingers nervously twisting her apron.
Kaguya leaned in, one hand braced on the door panel beside Makino’s ear, the other gently lifting her chin.
“Miss Makino, I can see from your eyes that you yearn for freedom, that you actually want to see the world, don’t you? Give me a chance, and give yourself a chance. I will protect you and take you to see every landscape in this world.”
Makino felt her breathing quicken, the coolness from the wooden door contrasting sharply with the warm body temperature of the person in front of her.
“I…”
Kaguya kissed Makino’s soft lips without explanation, sealing her unspoken words.
The sudden kiss made Makino’s eyes widen, her hands resting helplessly against Kaguya’s chest.
The dim yellow light of the bar flickered between their mingled breaths, and the wooden bar counter emitted a faint pine scent.
After a long while, Makino recovered from her daze, realizing that her hands had somehow wrapped around Kaguya’s neck.
She hastily pushed him away, her cheeks burning as if on fire.
“Pervert! You… how could you do that…?”
Makino’s voice trembled slightly, her fingers unconsciously stroking her slightly numb lips.
“I apologize, Miss Makino, you are simply too captivating, and for a moment, I forgot myself.”
Kaguya stepped back half a step, revealing an apologetic smile, though his eyes remained fervent.
“We… this is only our second meeting…”
Makino’s voice grew softer and softer, her fingers tightly clutching the edge of her apron.
Only the crackling of burning wood in the fireplace remained in the bar, adding a touch of warmth to the ambiguous atmosphere.
Kaguya gently took her cool hand, his voice as soft as water.
“Some people spend a lifetime together and never truly understand each other, while others know with just one glance. Miss Makino, do you believe in fate?”
Makino looked up into those deep eyes.
“I… I need time to think…”
“Of course, no problem. My ship is docked by the sea, and I’ll come to see you these next few days.
You can take your time thinking, I will wait for you.”
Kaguya released her hand, stepping back with a gentle smile.
