Chapter 296: Busy Father.
Chapter 296: 296: Busy Father.
The little ones all had their eyes on Commander Lynn. They leaned closer, anxiously waiting for his response as he stared back at them.
He said nothing at first, merely blinking at their expectant faces. "Well..." Commander Lynn didn’t know what to say.
Ayra smiled and shook her head. "They’re still little for now. Maybe when they’re older and stronger, we’ll see what they want to do."
She added, "Besides, our little Kellie only recently took his human form. Let’s watch him for a while first."
"Mmm, that’s true." Commander Lynn nodded in agreement. "We’ll do as Mama says."
Ally sighed and nodded. "Okay, then. We’ll wait."
The triplet snakes nodded in agreement too.
Ayra smiled, but before she could say anything else, Lord Vale stepped forward.
"Hmmm. I think, at this point, I should take responsibility for preparing something for the little ones to eat. A healthy porridge soup!"
"..."
Everyone paused and turned to stare at Lord Vale without saying a word.
"What?" Vale asked, staring back at them. "I’ve been practicing, and I think I’m getting better..."
"...."
They continued staring. No one seemed to believe or trust his cooking skills at all.
---
A few days passed, and the twins had gotten much better at walking on their little legs.
They hardly took their beast forms anymore. Instead, they mostly remained in their human forms, running around the tribe together. And they were incredibly fast on their feet, so fast that Commander Lynn was forced to chase after them all day long.
Every morning, the twins would run after butterflies, even though they couldn’t catch a single one. Commander Lynn had volunteered to keep an eye on his little ones, which meant running around with them all morning.
The twins could spend hours chasing butterflies, laughing and playing without getting tired, while Commander Lynn was already exhausted from trying to keep up with them.
"Don’t these kids ever get tired...?" he asked breathlessly as he continued running after them.
Meanwhile, Ayra and Ally sat in a corner, weaving pretty ornaments while Zay and the triplet snakes tried to learn alongside them.
Ally smiled. "Papa really is having a hard time with the little ones. Ever since they started walking so well on their human legs, they haven’t stopped moving, and Papa has been forced to run around after them."
Ayra smiled and shook her head. "At least he’s happy spending time with his little ones..."
"How do you even do this?" Neris asked.
Ayra and Ally looked down at the mess the triplet snakes were making in the name of creating ornaments.
"....."
Ally blinked. "Why does it look like a ritual object? It’s supposed to be pretty..."
Neris blinked back at her. "What’s the difference between the two?"
Ally slapped a hand against her forehead. "Oh dear..."
Zay simply smiled as he sat in his own corner, carefully working on his ornament and doing a surprisingly good job.
---
The twin cubs would spend the entire morning running around before eventually returning to Ayra, who would feed them.
Sometimes, she’d give them breast milk, while other times, she’d give them their hyper baby milk.
Commander Lynn was always against giving them the hyper baby milk because, as he often complained, "They always become double the problem afterwards!"
And he wasn’t wrong. Whenever the twins finished their milk, they would run around for several more hours without end.
Commander Lynn, who had taken a break from his official duties to care for the little ones, was forced to chase after them to ensure they remained safe.
Ayra had once asked him about his dedication. "Are you sure you can handle looking after the little ones all day long? You should also get back to work..."
But Commander Lynn simply smiled and shook his head. "Don’t worry at all. I’m fine. It’s my job to take care of them and keep an eye on them throughout the day."
Perhaps he still felt guilty about losing them the previous time, which was why he had decided to watch over them so closely.
Unfortunately, all the little twins knew how to do at the moment was run around chasing butterflies and other pretty things in the sky.
And when they weren’t doing that, they would sit around arranging flowers into different shapes and making Commander Lynn their model.
That was how the cycle continued for Commander Lynn.
Every morning, he would run around with the little ones, trying to keep up with their endless butterfly hunts. Whenever they spotted familiar or unfamiliar fruits growing on trees, they would immediately want to climb up and get some, forcing him to help them.
He would also give them piggyback rides whenever they became too tired to run around on their own, allowing them to continue enjoying themselves without having to use their little legs.
Commander Lynn simply couldn’t say no to his little ones, so he worked even harder to keep them happy.
The twins continued playing from morning until night, only stopping when they finally became tired and returned to eat. After their meals, they would either continue playing around the fire or eventually fall asleep.
Commander Lynn could only hope that they would fall asleep sooner. That way, he could finally retire for the day too.
Whenever the twins finally fell asleep, he would immediately follow suit without hesitation. Unfortunately, the following morning, he would be awakened by the sound of his twins, whom he usually slept with in his room, jumping excitedly around him on the bed.
"....."
And that was his signal to begin the entire cycle all over again.
---
One afternoon, Commander Lynn and the twins were in the garden.
The twins sat on the ground, playing with flowers, while Commander Lynn sat beside them as their model. Exhausted from all the running around that morning, he leaned against a tree to catch his breath.
However, before he knew it, he had fallen asleep.
While he slept, the twins continued playing with their flowers. But when they eventually looked up and noticed that he was asleep, they blinked in surprise.
"Huh?"
The twins exchanged glances before looking around. Nearby, they spotted the tribe warriors practicing together.
They paused to watch the warriors train for a while, their curious little eyes following every movement.
Then, seemingly intrigued by what they saw, the twins immediately got to their feet and ran off towards the area where the warriors were practicing.
