Chapter 303: 303: Awake.

Nyx was ready to strike when he caught sight of an adorable little wolf cub standing close by his side, tugging at him.

"....."

Nyx blinked at the sight. "Kellie...?" He tilted his head, then looked ahead and spotted Minnie standing at a distance with Zay by her side. Both of them were staring at him.

Nyx rubbed a hand over his eyes before turning to his side. Ayra was still fast asleep beside him. "What are you kids doing here?" he inquired.

"Papa is awake!" Kellie said, tugging at Nyx again. "Papa is awake..."

"Oh..." Nyx murmured, slowly turning to wake Ayra up.

But before he could, Minnie had already rushed to Ayra’s side, poking and tapping her excitedly until she finally woke up.

"Eh...?" Ayra sat up, looking around in confusion. It took her a while to recall where she was as she stared down at the little ones gathered around her.

Zay blinked before speaking. "Rise and shine, Mama. Papa Wolf is awake. You should come and check on him."

Minnie and Kellie nodded in agreement. Ayra guessed they had rushed over for that very reason.

She slowly smiled as she turned to stare at Nyx, whom she had been sleeping on all night. "Good morning, kitty," she said, patting him on the head.

"Morning..." Nyx replied, lowering his head as Ayra carefully made her way to her feet. "Let’s go pay a visit to the exhausted wolf," she said with a smile, looking around.

"Oh..." Ayra suddenly pouted as she stared at Nyx. "Did I fall asleep and miss the shooting star?"

Nyx nodded as he cleared his throat and rose to his feet. "Yes. It flew past yesterday, and I think I saw it."

Ayra blinked before shaking her head. "Whoa, that’s terrible..." She sighed. "And did you wish upon it?"

Nyx hesitated, remaining silent. That alone was enough to tell Ayra that he had. She smiled and leaned closer to him.

"So, what did you wish for? Tell me..."

But Nyx immediately glanced around, his expression turning serious. "It’s nothing. I..."

Kellie and Minnie rushed to Ayra’s side, tugging at her as they insisted, "Papa is awake. Let’s go, Mama..."

Ayra smiled down at them. "Okay, okay, I’m coming."

She shook her head at Nyx with an amused smile. "Don’t worry. I’ll make you tell me soon." With that, she turned and walked off with the little ones.

Nyx stood there, watching her leave. As she walked away, he couldn’t help glancing down at his hands and then at his chest.

She had slept on his chest all night, and he had held her close in his arms. The warmth of her body still lingered around him, and he found himself sniffing the air, trying to catch the faint trace of her scent.

Nyx realized he was already missing it.

His gaze slowly dropped between his legs, where he could see the obvious bulge in his pants. He was already getting hard, and the realization of what had caused it left him utterly embarrassed.

"No, that can’t be..." he muttered, shaking his head.

Ayra had just finished feeding Commander Lynn a bowl of warm soup while sitting close to his bed.

Commander Lynn didn’t complain. He sat obediently like a little cub as she fed him, and once she was done, she gently ran a hand over his forehead.

The three tribe lords and the kids were already gathered around, watching closely as Ayra checked on him.

"How’s the little one feeling?" Lord Vale teased.

Ayra smiled. "He’s doing much better now. He just needs to eat properly and get some sleep. Soon, he’ll be ready to jump back into fighting."

The twin wolf pups jumped onto the bed and sat beside Commander Lynn. They ran their hands over his forehead and chest, imitating Ayra as she checked on him.

"Mama, is Papa okay?" Minnie turned to Ayra. "Is his head hurting?"

Ayra smiled at them. "Don’t worry. Papa will be fine."

"Yay!" Minnie cheered. "Does that mean Papa will join us to play soon?"

Kellie nodded excitedly. "I want to play the stick game again!"

Commander Lynn was left speechless, traumatized as he recalled how hard the little ones had struck him, knocking him unconscious.

Ayra smiled as she replied, "No. Papa can’t play for now. Papa needs a long, long rest."

Minnie and Kellie pouted, lowering their heads as they glanced at each other.

"Then who do we play with now?" Kellie asked sadly.

Minnie hesitated before suddenly flashing a smile. She looked up at Ayra’s other mates, who were standing nearby, and suggested, "Maybe Papa Fox can play with us?"

Lord Ash and the others had already heard stories about how extraordinary the little ones were. None of them wanted to take the risk, so Lord Ash immediately shook his head.

"No, sorry, little ones, but Papa is busy. I can’t play with you for now..."

Minnie and Kellie blinked before shifting their attention to Lord Zark.

Lord Zark shook his head as well. "Sorry, I’m also busy."

The twins stared at each other before pouting in disappointment.

Ayra smiled and stretched out her hands, gently patting their heads. "Don’t worry. Everyone is just busy. When everyone is feeling better, they’ll play a safer game with you. Just not the stick game."

The little ones pouted. They clearly wanted to play the stick game again.

Commander Lynn smiled at them before finally speaking up. "Don’t worry. I’m going to play the stick game with you two."

Ayra and the others stared at him, impressed by his bravery. It was as though he hadn’t learned his lesson at all.

Excited, the twins rushed closer to his side, staring up at him with bright smiles and their ears perked up happily.

"Really? You’ll play with us?" they asked excitedly.

Ayra smiled as she looked at him. "Really? You’ll play with them? I see you want to sleep some more, huh?"

Commander Lynn smiled back at her before saying, "I have an idea instead."
