Others Summon, I Forge Beast Armor
Chapter 213 Business, Blackstone Legacy
Somewhere in the headquarters of Blackstone Corp is Mr. Blackstone’s office. This was a quiet office, feeling like it belonged to someone who had built everything themselves and didn’t need to prove anything.
It had dark wood, neat bookshelves, and covered windows, emphasizing privacy, and the atmosphere was calm and orderly, as if nothing in this room was allowed to be hurried or wasted.
In the office sits that girl with black hair, black stockings, and purple eyes.
She was sitting on one of the sofas, playing with a prism shell snail.
Whenever you rotate the snail in one direction, it reflects the most beautiful colors; it can reflect a solid color, or no color at all, or a beautiful kaleidoscope.
As her tertiary beast and what she considered a pet, this girl, Lucy, knew how to play with the prism, therefore, the snail serves as a companion to help her pass the time.
Soon, Mr. Blackstone entered the office. Upon identifying his visitor, he walks toward his desk with calm and steady steps.
Few people can command his attention immediately or cause him to set aside his current tasks, but his daughter, Lucretia (known as Lucy), was one of them.
Lucy was his only family, and Loki has made it clear that she was of paramount importance to him.
Lucy occasionally leverages this fact—though often only for the most trivial matters rather than any grand scheme. Maybe this is a testament to her upbringing; Lucy never developed the habit of manipulating others for personal gain.
"Father, I’m here to tell you that my summon has finally made progress, you can stop sending aid and tasking people to look for remedies," Lucy said. "Very important, because I have no place to dispose of these aids without you seeing them, thus creating the false impression that I am rejecting your help."
Mr. Blackstone had just poured himself a glass of wine and was about to take a sip when he paused, the rim of the glass gently touching his lips, his breath fogging up the glass. He could hardly believe it.
His daughter... no longer disabled? After all this time? After all these years?
Mr. Blackstone put down his glass, swallowed, not taking a sip of the wine, just swallowing his saliva.
He replayed the information in his mind, including what had been said to him and what had not been said to him, and those things that would never be spoken.
"Lucy, did you tell me this just because you sympathise with those I burdened to help you, or is it merely because you’ve run out of places to hide the aid you’ve been receiving?"
Blackstone half-turned to look at his daughter, his shoulder obscuring the lower half of his face.
"Would you care to explain why telling your father you had a breakthrough was qualifactory?"
Lucy anticipated this friction before arriving, but she was prepared, so she showed no remorse, knowing that this was exactly what her father was looking for to confirm that she understood what she had done wrong.
Therefore, she looked at him stalwartly in the eye and replied, "Father, I’ve been stagnant for nearly two years, and when I finally made a breakthrough, I had to ensure it wasn’t a fluke. I also have to confront the trauma of those years because I don’t want to come to you with hope and then lose it again. I also don’t want to see you holding onto hope if the outcome is nothing."
As Loki listened, Lucy added, "But I believe I am no longer stagnant—however, showing sympathy for those who work hard to help me is why I came to see you sooner. I even considered waiting a month to ensure this isn’t a temporary boost from a dungeon or monster zone which I activated unknowingly."
Lucy rested her case. Watching her father, she saw him grinning from ear to ear, he downed the drink in one go like it was medicine, and after finishing, he wore a look of joy and satisfaction.
"My clement child has never changed," Loki praised. "Even at her lowest point, and now as she stands on the verge of a great ascent, she remains magnanimous. Lucretia, my daughter, I am very proud of you."
"Thank you, Father," Lucy replied and bowed.
"Your breakthrough is worth celebrating, dear. Come, give me a hug—I’m simply overcome with excitement!"
"Father..." Lucy reluctantly complained, but ultimately stood up to hug her father.
Mr. Blackstone held her shoulders tightly for a long time, his arms trembling. From this, Lucy could feel how much this meant to him, sensing that his joy at her breakthrough even surpassed her own joy at her breakthrough. After all, she was his heir, his only child and legacy.
If Lucy stagnated, his legacy would stagnate too.
But an Elder-grade summoner like her can continue a great legacy like Loki’s—considering Lucy was the strongest Elder-grade summoner of her generation.
Lucy stopped being the strongest Elder-grade summoner of her generation because she stagnated for two years. Meaning, other Elder-grade summoners like Raven Kingsley surpassed her during that time.
A knock on the door interrupted their conversation, and Mr. Blackstone said, "Come in."
The door opened, and Luke walked in, and Mr. Blackstone showed his surprise.
"Luke? Have you finished checking those beasts with the system?"
Luke was about to reply, but when he saw Lucy sitting there, he stopped.
Lucy was even more surprised to see him, standing there for a moment until she realised and lowered her gaze.
She wondered why he was here, why their encounters always happened when she was least prepared. She wished the ground would swallow her up because she never expected to see him here in the beast shop, nor in her father’s office.
Luke noticed her rather feminine and elegant outfit today, and he also felt the awkward atmosphere in the room, but he swallowed the embarrassment and continued walking in.
He answered Loki’s belated question, saying, "Yes, I’m done. We can start breeding these beasts now. I’m ready to let them start working because now is the most opportune time."
