Iris Yates’s face was incredibly dark. She glared at him with cold, unconcealed disgust. Her lips parted, but she swallowed the curses threatening to spill out.

She couldn’t afford to provoke him; otherwise, she would be the only one to suffer.

"Stay calm. I must stay calm!" she told herself.

William Quinn’s blue eyes flickered slightly. Seeing the blatant revulsion in her gaze, he immediately leaned in and pressed his lips to her eyes. She closed her eyes on reflex, finally hiding the piercing glare that stabbed at his heart.

William kissed her gently. "Baby, let’s go. I’ll take you to see a gift. You’ll definitely like it."

He carried Iris out of the small grove.

Iris, however, suspected that there must be something in this grove he didn’t want her to know about. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have appeared so suddenly and whisked her away in such a hurry. But she didn’t push the issue. He had been leaving the island quite often recently, so she would eventually find an opportunity to investigate.

She had to figure out exactly what kind of secret he was hiding in this little grove.

Carrying Iris, William returned to the castle and pushed open a door.

"MEOW."

As soon as the door opened, a soft meow rang out.

"Baby, look!" William beamed at her with delight. "It’s a kitten. A very cute little kitten."

He set her down, then leaned over to scoop up the kitten and presented it right in front of her. It was a Ragdoll with exceptionally fluffy fur, big blue eyes, and a large tail that swayed gently back and forth.

"MEOW."

The soft, sweet cry could melt anyone’s heart. Iris was instantly charmed. She reached out, took the kitten, and began to gently stroke its back. After a few strokes, it started to purr, letting her hold it in an adorably docile manner.

Watching this scene, William broke into a wide smile. "Baby, why don’t you give it a name?"

Iris sat on the sofa, petting the kitten in her arms. "Let’s call it Mimi."

William nodded. "Alright, our kitten has a name now. Mimi. Cute little Mimi." He crouched in front of her and reached out to pet the cat as well.

Iris was soft-hearted by nature. Seeing such an adorable animal, she found it impossible to maintain her cold front. It was rare for the two of them to share such a peaceful moment, and the atmosphere was surprisingly warm and harmonious.

William sat cross-legged on the floor in front of her. Looking at her gentle expression, his blue eyes filled with longing and deep affection. He wondered when his baby would ever look at him with such gentleness. He truly looked forward to that day.

Resting his chin in his hand, he stared at her like an utterly obsessed fool. His intense gaze carried a heavy, undeniable presence.

Iris frowned slightly. She looked up at him and asked, "Don’t you have anything else to do? Why are you just hovering here?" He was interrupting her cat-petting time!

William shook his head. "To me, the most important thing in the world is staying by your side. I’ll be keeping you company for the next few days. Are you happy, Baby?"

"Heh." Iris sneered without an ounce of politeness. "I would much prefer it if you weren’t here."

With that, she picked up Mimi and left the room.

Despite the new environment, Mimi didn’t show any signs of fear. Instead, the kitten began looking around, then wriggled out of Iris’s arms. With its big, fluffy tail raised high, it began to explore and familiarize itself with its new territory.

Iris found it too adorable for words and constantly wanted to go over and pet it.

William followed closely behind her. Seeing the soft smile on her lips, he finally lost his restraint. He pinned her against the sofa and kissed her like a madman.
