Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 880: She Just Helped Them Get Rid of Each Other
Hearing the voice, Walker slightly turned his head in her direction. His tone was indifferent. "Who are you?"
Annie York’s heart hitched as a sour wave of discomfort welled up inside her. Could he really not recognize her voice? How could that be? She had worked at Jardinelle right before this.
Curling her fingers nervously, Annie walked over. Her voice was slightly hoarse. "Mr. Grant, I’m Annie York."
"Oh, it’s you," Walker nodded slightly. "Is Chloe here?"
"Yes," Annie nodded. She pursed her lips and added, "Mr. Vance is also here."
Walker’s lips twitched in a faint, indifferent smile. "I see."
Annie looked at him carefully, hiding a secret affection deep in her eyes. "Mr. Grant, are you here to pick Chloe up?"
"Just passing by. I was hungry," Walker said casually.
Annie nodded. "Do you want to eat anything else? There’s a really good dish at this restaurant."
"No need." Walker’s attitude was distant and cold.
Annie’s passionate heart felt as though it had been doused with cold water, leaving her momentarily miserable.
"You don’t need to mind me. Go eat," Walker said.
"Chloe and Mr. Vance have something to talk about, so I’m staying downstairs for a bit," Annie blurted out instinctively.
But the moment the words left her mouth, she bit her lip in regret. She cursed herself for speaking out of turn, worrying that it would make Mr. Grant misunderstand Chloe and Mr. Vance’s relationship. She opened her mouth, wanting to explain.
However, Walker suddenly put down his chopsticks and stood up.
Seeing this, the driver quickly got up. "Mr. Grant?"
"Let’s go," Walker said coldly.
The driver supported him as they left the restaurant.
Annie chased after them for a few steps, instinctively wanting to explain. "Mr. Grant..."
Walker didn’t even turn his head. "Don’t tell her I was here."
Then, he was helped into the car by the driver, and the vehicle quickly sped away from the street.
Annie’s face paled a little. She felt like she had done something wrong, yet a deep sense of conflict arose within her heart. She reasoned that Chloe no longer loved Mr. Grant. She had merely stated the facts, only omitting that Doctor Linton was also upstairs. She hadn’t really done anything wrong.
Turning around with a pale face, Annie saw Preston Vance standing a short distance away. A faint smile graced his handsome, gentle features.
"Ann, you did very well." He didn’t skimp on his praise. Walking up to her, he said, "They don’t love each other anymore. Staying together is just torturing them both. We only want to help set them free, so don’t blame yourself."
Annie’s throat felt a little dry. "Is... is that so?"
"Of course." Preston smiled, his lips curving up. "Chloe said it herself. She doesn’t love Walker anymore."
Annie bit her lip and lowered her eyes, remaining silent for a long while.
Preston patted her shoulder. "Alright, pull yourself together and go back to finish eating. They’re still waiting for you."
"Okay," Annie nodded.
She went to the restroom and washed her face with cold water to calm herself down. Looking at her reflection in the mirror, her gaze gradually became resolute. She told herself she hadn’t done anything wrong; she was simply helping them break free from each other.
Upstairs.
Chloe had drunk a little wine. Perhaps because it had been a long time since she last drank, she was a bit tipsy. Her head was spinning, and her cheeks were alarmingly hot.
