Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 879: He Also Came
Fiona Linton nodded. "You’re looking quite well. It seems you didn’t suffer any vital injuries."
Preston Vance nodded in agreement.
Fiona then pulled Chloe Reed over to sit on a chair and whispered, "You didn’t come back, and Walker Grant didn’t come back either. I thought you two had been together this whole time."
Hearing this, Chloe’s expression froze.
She wondered if Walker Grant hadn’t gone back at all. Her mind couldn’t help but picture the car she had seen at the hospital entrance. For a moment, her thoughts were in complete turmoil.
Noticing something was wrong, Fiona asked, "What’s the matter?"
"Nothing." Chloe shook her head. "I was at the hospital the whole time. I have no idea where he went."
"Then he’s probably just busy with his own affairs," Fiona said.
At that moment, Annie York came over with the menus. "Chloe, Doctor Linton, Mr. Vance, take a look and see what you’d like to eat. Don’t be fooled by how small this restaurant is. Uncle Carter is an amazing cook. I used to work here as a waitress, so I know for a fact that the ingredients are all very fresh. You don’t have to worry about that."
Chloe nodded and took the menu, reading it earnestly.
Fiona looked at Annie and asked, "Since you used to work here, you must know what the most popular dishes are, right?"
Annie smiled shyly and nodded. "There’s one dish that’s especially popular."
"Then let’s get that one," Fiona said before turning back to the menu.
Each of them ordered a dish and handed the menus back to Annie. She took them and left, only to return a short while later with a pot of tea.
Fiona couldn’t help but laugh. "What are you doing? Such attentive service! Do you still think you’re a waitress here?"
Annie poured each of them a cup of tea. "I come over to help out whenever I have free time. You could say I’m practically half a waitress here."
A look of admiration flickered in Fiona’s eyes. Annie was only twenty years old, yet she knew how to be grateful. In today’s society, young people like her were becoming increasingly rare.
Chloe pulled Annie over, making her sit down, and asked, "How’s your mother doing lately? Is her health getting any better?"
At that question, Annie’s eyes flickered slightly. "Yes, she’s doing quite well."
"If you need anything, you can tell me directly," Chloe said.
Annie was deeply grateful to her. "Chloe, you’ve already helped me so much. I won’t trouble you anymore. I’ll be graduating soon, and I can rely on my own abilities to earn money and support my family."
Chloe smiled gently. "Alright. You’ve always been amazing."
The second floor was also a dining hall, but right now, theirs was the only occupied table. The aroma of the food permeated the air, creating a rare sense of peace and tranquility.
The food here was indeed delicious. Fiona was full of praise and ended up eating two large bowls of rice.
Seeing how much they were enjoying the meal brought Annie a deep sense of satisfaction. The faint traces of inferiority she harbored in her heart gradually dissipated. Chloe and Mr. Vance hadn’t put on any airs in front of her, never making her feel any distance between them.
Her mind involuntarily drifted to the matter Mr. Vance had discussed with her earlier. She still couldn’t get past her own moral barrier. Chloe had treated her so well; how could she possibly do anything to hurt her? Besides, they weren’t even divorced yet.
When Annie went downstairs to settle the bill, she was surprised to see Walker Grant sitting in the first-floor dining area.
The driver sat across from him. Walker, whose eyes were wrapped in white gauze, was in the middle of eating.
"Mr. Grant?"
Annie was taken aback, her heart THUMPING wildly in her chest.
