Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 878: You Should Have Some Manners
Walker Grant said coldly, “If you came here just to spout these baseless lies to me, you’ve got the wrong person. Chloe Reed isn’t like that, and I won’t believe a word of your fabricated nonsense. Miss Vance, you really should learn some manners.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the car window slowly rolled up, completely cutting off Ivy Vance’s line of sight. Ivy’s face twisted into an ugly grimace. However, seeing the driver standing nearby, she did her best to swallow her anger.
“Damn it! How could he say that to me? Am I really that despicable in his eyes? Can’t he see even a single good thing about me?” she thought in a fit of indignation.
Ivy turned and stormed off in a rage, her gaze exceptionally gloomy. She swore she would find a way to make him see what kind of person Chloe truly was. She would make him regret ever loving her so deeply!
As evening approached, Chloe Reed’s phone began to ring. It was a call from Annie York.
“Hello, Ann,” she answered.
Ann’s soft voice came through the receiver. “Chloe, I sent the restaurant’s location to your phone. You, Mr. Vance, and Doctor Linton can come over together.”
Chloe agreed. “Sure.” She then sent a message to Fiona Linton. Fiona headed straight for the restaurant, while Chloe and Preston Vance left from the hospital.
Just before getting into the car, Chloe caught a glimpse of a familiar vehicle parked not far away. She looked over, her pupils trembling slightly. “Is that Walker’s car? Has he been here this whole time? That can’t be right. I told him to go back early. He shouldn’t be waiting out there,” she thought.
“Chloe, what are you looking at?” Preston asked in confusion, noticing she was spacing out instead of getting into the car.
Chloe withdrew her gaze. “I think I saw his car.”
Preston followed her line of sight and reassured her, “That probably isn’t it. The license plate is a bit different. Besides, there are quite a few of those models in Breyburn.”
Chloe nodded, figuring he was right. She bent down and slid into his car. The vehicle soon sped off, disappearing into the twilight.
Not far away.
The driver swallowed hard and gripped the steering wheel tightly. “Mr. Grant, Mrs. Grant has already left in Preston Vance’s car. Where are we heading now?”
Walker’s voice came from the back seat, devoid of any emotion. “Follow them.”
“Yes, sir,” the driver replied.
Ann had booked a small restaurant. The aroma inside was rich and inviting, and the place was exceptionally clean and tidy. She clearly knew the restaurant owner; when Chloe walked through the door, she saw the two of them chatting.
“Ann,” Chloe called out.
Ann turned her head and smiled brightly. “Chloe, Mr. Vance, come on in!”
The restaurant owner chuckled. “So these are your friends, Ann? Such handsome men and beautiful women, and they carry themselves so well. It seems you’ve been doing pretty well for yourself these past few years.”
Ann offered a shy smile. “Uncle Carter, thank you for the trouble. We’ll head upstairs first.”
Uncle Carter nodded. “Alright, go on up.”
As Ann led Chloe and Preston upstairs, they saw that Fiona had already arrived.
“Chloe, why didn’t you come home all day?” Fiona immediately asked with a tone of grievance upon seeing her.
Chloe explained, “I went to the hospital to visit Preston.”
Fiona quickly followed up, “How is Mr. Vance recovering?”
Preston replied with a warm smile, “I’m pretty much fully recovered. I can be discharged tomorrow.”
