"We still don’t know why your vision hasn’t returned, so we have to try everything we can," Chloe said softly. Her hoarse voice carried a tinge of dejection.

Walker Grant turned toward her, his expression faltering for a moment before he asked, "Are you worried about me?"

"Yes."

Chloe didn’t deny it. Of course she was worried. As long as his vision remained impaired, she couldn’t find peace of mind.

Inexplicably, the icy aura that usually clung to Walker vanished without a trace.

Fiona Linton felt this shift most keenly. She shot Walker an astonished look, thinking in disbelief, "Are you kidding me? Just one sentence and you’re not angry anymore? You’re not radiating that gloomy energy either? Are you really that easy to coax?"

Walker broke the silence. "I have his contact info in my phone." He handed his phone directly to Chloe.

Chloe took the device and unlocked it. However, it was set to accessibility mode, which operated quite differently from standard settings. For a moment, she couldn’t figure out how to navigate it. Whenever her finger tapped the screen, a voice prompt automatically read aloud whatever she touched.

Chloe faltered, a brief look of melancholy washing over her face as the reality of his condition sank in.

"Do you know how to use it?" Walker asked in a low voice.

"Not really, no," Chloe admitted.

"I’ll turn off the screen reader," he said.

"Okay." Chloe handed the phone back. She watched as he disabled the accessibility features, returning the interface to normal so she could use it properly.

She quickly found the psychologist’s number and dialed it. After a brief conversation, the doctor instructed her to bring Walker into the clinic so he could evaluate his condition in person. Chloe relayed the clinic’s address to the driver, and they set off at once.

When they arrived, the psychologist was waiting at the door to greet them. His gaze fell on Walker’s face, his tone laced with surprise. "What happened? How did you lose your sight?"

"It’s a long story," Walker replied coldly. "And it’s none of your business."

The doctor was momentarily speechless. "But you have to talk to me. Otherwise, how am I supposed to help you?"

"That sounds like a problem for you to figure out," Walker retorted.

Exasperated, the doctor shot Chloe a helpless look.

"I’ll fill you in," Chloe offered.

The doctor nodded and ushered them into his office. The consultation room was warmly decorated and filled with lush, thriving potted plants. Rather than the harsh, stinging smell of hospital disinfectant, a faint, soothing floral scent drifted through the air, instantly putting their tense nerves at ease.

"Have a seat." The doctor pointed to the sofa with a gentle smile.

Walker and Chloe took a seat, while Fiona opted to wait outside in the lobby.

Chloe didn’t hold anything back, explaining the entire sequence of events that led to Walker losing his sight. The doctor jotted down notes before turning his attention to Walker. After observing him for a moment, he said, "Mrs. Grant, you may step out now."

"Alright." Chloe nodded, rising to her feet and leaving the room.

Fiona was immersed in a mobile game. When she saw Chloe emerge, she asked, "Why are you out here?"

"The treatment is starting," Chloe explained. "It’s best if I’m not in there."

"Ah, got it," Fiona said. "Wanna play a round with me to kill time?"

Chloe checked the time and shook her head. "I need to run to the hospital. Preston is being discharged today."

Hearing this, Fiona dragged her eyes away from her screen and looked up at her. "Look at the time. He’s probably finished the paperwork by now. Aren’t you a little late?"
