Chapter 1428: Haven’t You Had Enough Yet? (Part 2)

But the man’s attacking words were like sharp knives stabbing into his heart. The baron, already tormented by pressure, wasn’t truly accepting failure, just hidden away, and now it burst out directly.

The baron’s consciousness was tested… Brutality!

“I will kill you!”

The baron, angry and ashamed, turned around and drew the longsword placed beside him, wanting to cut him down, but that man wasn’t a fool and immediately turned to run.

The baron chased after him with the sword, but at this moment, the door was suddenly pushed open, and a fully armored knight walked in, the bloodstains on him indicating he wasn’t someone to be trifled with.

For a moment, the baron was stunned. Judging by the style of the armor, it wasn’t from his own side; without a coat of arms, it was impossible to discern the specific identity.

But it was certain he wasn’t one of his own.

The baron didn’t panic and call for guards because the fact he could walk in already meant the guards were gone when he was arguing with that man earlier.

At this moment, he suddenly reacted to the man’s previous words and immediately pointed his sword at him.

“Traitor! You brought them in.”

“So what if I did? You’re doomed!” The man turned his head, covering his face, without any sign of panic. Instead, the corner of his mouth slowly curled up in a rather smug expression. “The defense map was stolen by me too, and I arranged for the gate guards to open the door…”

The man erupted in self-disclosure about how incompetent the baron was, evidently displeased with the baron for a long time, so when Hamlet’s people reached out to him, he linked up directly. With him lurking by the baron’s side, no wonder so much intelligence was obtained.

Reynard didn’t care about the love and hatred between them. His current task was only one: capture the baron, and his footsteps never ceased as he walked over.

Compared to the threat posed by a knight, though furious and anxious, the baron had no choice but to focus on Reynard, continuously making promises.

“I’ll give you a fief; the Lord of Hamlet would never be so generous.”

“I’ll give you money… women…”

The baron desperately tried to save himself, but unfortunately, the promises he threw out scarcely wavered Reynard’s steps. Under the helmet’s cover, no response was visible, and the aura was truly oppressive.

“Damn it! What did that guy give you? I’ll offer double.”

“You don’t understand what Hamlet is. Loyalty is the best reward.” Reynard responded and made his move, instantly increasing his speed.

The baron, forced into desperation, although not wearing armor, was also a swordsman, and at this moment had the resolve to fight for his life.

But his struggle, in Reynard’s view, had no meaning.

“Are you done fussing?”

Reynard effortlessly parried the baron’s sword aimed at him, approached, and hit him on the head with the sword’s pommel.

Daze Strike!

The baron swung his sword, the baron fell… the battle ended.

“Go aid them in capturing those arsonists and bureaucrats.” Reynard sheathed his sword slowly and reminded the man who was still dazed.

“Yes, yes, sir, you can trust me.”

The man promptly agreed, and judging by his subconscious actions, indeed didn’t seem to be from Hamlet, merely a spy developed here.

The development of spies wasn’t his responsibility, and Reynard couldn’t care less. He focused more on ensuring the baron wouldn’t ignite the fire or let those people escape.

The baron had indeed arranged personal to ultimately destroy the entire town, but those people had long been watched.

However, they weren’t resolved in advance, instead caught red-handed when acting, and simultaneously when the man came forward to point out the baron’s intention to set the fire and kill everyone, it meant the baron’s rule here disappeared.

And Hamlet’s army rescued them, found a few people to spread the word, and established a firm footing here.

After all, the baron intended to burn himself, whereas Hamlet’s army entered without interference.

Nonetheless, these were small matters, as the army’s entry was mainly to capture those war criminals.

With intelligence support from lurked companions, many hidden bureaucrats, gangsters, hooligans scattered throughout the town were entirely rounded up.

They didn’t fail to attempt resistance, but unfortunately, under absolute power, it was meaningless.

Those who once oppressed the people and whose wickedness could be described as heinous were now strung together with ropes and paraded through the streets.

Their fate is likely to be sentenced after the trial, then spend their next life in labor reform.

While Hamlet will complete a thorough reshuffle, incorporating this area into true governance.

…

“I suggest execution… The damage is too great… Were the items found…”

“Hey, why did he move?”

“Seems he’s awake, go notify My Lord.”

Uh… where am I?

The external commotions awakened the baron, and when he opened his eyes, still with lingering dizziness, everything in front was blurry.

But the hidden pain from the head wound reminded him of what had happened before, quickly clearing his mind, and the scene before him became clear.

The familiar ceiling was in the estate hall, still alive… was he saved?

“Stop pretending; get up if you’re awake.”

A voice came from beside him, and the baron immediately struggled to rise, seeing several unfamiliar people seated around the round table.

The position originally belonging to him was occupied by an ordinary-looking young man, the table covered with numerous papers as if used for office work.

Judging by the attitude of the soldiers coming and going, even if the baron wasn’t foolish, he could guess who the seated person was.

“You are the lord of Hamlet?”

“What? You seem a bit dissatisfied?” Lance’s expression became impatient, evidently having no patience for this guy, directly humiliating him mercilessly.

“Damn it! Occupying so much land from Hamlet and ending up like this, calling you useless is already polite, no wonder we reached here in four days.”

Lance, this few days absent from the frontline, was mainly tidying up the territories from the rear.

Development in those no man’s lands was slow, let alone, with no unified upper-level planning or support.

But the lands you annexed remain in this poor state; just allocating some land for knights to be granted fiefs, constantly using exploratory knights to nibble at Hamlet.

But how many of those so-called knights have the sense to farm and develop? Creating a small village, a small farm to sustain themselves was understandable.

This greatly irked Lance. Damn, you had so much time yet managed this disgraceful state? Vast barren lands, only sparsely scattered Knights’ Domains remain.

Although Lance wrongly criticized the baron, could he not know those places were fertile?

But those lands had too much uncertainty, and he dared not develop recklessly, fearing ongoing struggles with other nobles.

Though ultimately, none of it mattered; while the baron desperately wanted to retort against Lance’s words, he understood his current situation, only enduring silently.

Endurance!

Seeing the baron behave like this, Lance took a higher regard but had no intention of letting him off.

“Were you the one who ordered the knights to burn everything before retreating?”

The baron knew things were problematic, this matter was pinned on him, but he certainly wouldn’t admit it.

“These were their own unauthorized actions; I simply instructed them to abandon those places and retreat. I intended to return them to Hamlet, sir, how could I do such a thing.”

Instead of exposing him, Lance smiled and nodded.

“Very well, I’m planning to sentence all knights who set fire to their territories to death; do you have any objections?”

“No objections!”

The baron responded almost without hesitation, at this point, surviving is paramount, better not to provoke him.

“Bring them in.”

Lance gestured, and soon after, a few men were dragged in from outside, visibly injured, marked with bandages, looking pale and awful.

Indeed, these were the knights stripped of their armor, yet they paid no mind to others at this time, their eyes fixed intently on the baron…
