Chapter 487: Playing... Leapfrog on a Rhino's Back?!

  • Next Chapter

Seeing the warthogs, Little Dog grew quite excited. He assumed an attack posture, ready to duke it out with them.

Naturally, Ning Fei wasn't going to let him do that.

At the end of the day, the physical gap between species was too vast.

Warthogs had rough, thick hides and a pair of sharp tusks meant entirely for offense.

A dog would struggle just to bite through their skin, let alone survive being pierced by those tusks.

"Little Dog, retreat!"

Ning Fei opted for a tactical withdrawal.

He had no desire to brawl with warthogs either. Bullying two wild pigs held little appeal.

With that, Ning Fei and Little Dog turned and ran.

The viewers were struck speechless.

It felt as if an invisible crow had just flown across the live-stream screen, trailing a string of black ellipses.

"Temple Master Ning even dares to beat up tigers. Why is he running this time?"

"I wanted to see a man-versus-pig showdown."

"Second Senior Brother, you even dare to chase Taishang Laojun? You've got some nerve."

"I'm guessing it's just pointless. Warthogs are filthy and stink. Brawling with them would just get him dirty."

Within the tropical rainforest, the trees grew dense and lush.

Running through the thicket was difficult for Little Dog, so Ning Fei simply tucked him under his arm like a briefcase and dashed rapidly through the woods.

He tapped his toes lightly against the ground, leaping up to bounce off a trunk and land on a sturdy branch. With a burst of speed, he actually continued running across the branches.

The two warthogs had been charging swiftly, chasing after Ning Fei like a pair of miniature tanks.

Seeing him leap into the trees and bound away, they skidded to a halt and exchanged glances.

Warthog A: "Are we still chasing him?"

Warthog B: "He can fly. What the hell are we supposed to chase?"

At that moment, a thick vine appeared ahead of Ning Fei.

It hung suspended like a steel cable. When he stepped onto it, he found it easily strong enough to support his weight.

Without missing a beat, Ning Fei kept running right along the vine.

On screen, it looked as though he were performing a tightrope act.

The maneuver left his foreign viewers utterly dumbfounded.

"Is this Huaxia's version of parkour? That's so cool!"

"In Huaxia, this is called Light Kung Fu. It's a type of Huaxia martial art!"

"Huaxia martial arts again!"

"With an ancient country like Huaxia, any kind of mysterious person could exist."

Ning Fei sprinted across the canopy for a while before glancing back. Seeing that the warthogs hadn't followed, he finally dropped back down to the ground and set Little Dog down.

Little Dog wagged his tail, looking as if he found the whole ordeal incredibly fun. It was likely his first time experiencing the sensation of flight.

"This is a tropical rainforest, after all. Better to be careful."

"Though the tropical rainforests on Sumatra Island aren't quite as crawling with venomous snakes and insects as the Amazon, they still house plenty of fierce predators."

Ning Fei explained at a leisurely pace after touching down.

Just then, Little falcon swooped down from the sky.

He seemed eager to warn Ning Fei about something.

"Little falcon just told me someone is being chased up ahead, and that I should be careful,"

Ning Fei explained to the viewers as he stroked the raptor's feathers.

"Someone being chased? Isn't that Temple Master Ning?"

"What a coincidence. Is someone else getting chased by warthogs too?"

"Haha, in the Sumatra tropical rainforest, humans really can't compare to wild beasts."

Suddenly, a deep vibration rumbled through the earth.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

It sounded as if something massive was repeatedly hammering against the ground.

A flicker of surprise crossed Ning Fei's face.

"Judging by the sound, whatever's coming weighs at least 1,500 jin."

"If I'm not mistaken, that should be a Sumatran rhinoceros!"

"Rhinos are apex-tier creatures. There are five species of rhinos in the world, and the Sumatran rhinoceros is the smallest among them."

"But even the smallest is roughly the size of a standard SUV,"

Ning Fei muttered to himself.

A rustling noise erupted from the brush ahead.

A Mentawai man burst out of the bushes. Seeing Ning Fei, he visibly faltered before shouting frantically, "Run! Run away!"

The drone panned its camera over.

The viewers saw a colossal rhinoceros, clad in what looked like thick gray armor, charging full speed after the Mentawai tribesman.

It was a terrifying spectacle.

The sheer visual impact of a rhino stampeding toward a person was far more horrifying than a lion or tiger.

"Holy crap, what a huge rhino!"

"That's terrifying!"

"It's my first time seeing a live rhino. It looks so ferocious!"

"Why is Temple Master Ning just standing there?"

"Run!"

The Mentawai man screamed as he sprinted past Ning Fei, not daring to look back as he pushed himself to flee even faster.

Ning Fei, on the other hand, merely admired the beast, finding the towering rhinoceros majestic and awe-inspiring.

"With momentum like that, it could probably punt a car with ease."

Ning Fei couldn't help but marvel.

There were many fierce beasts in the world—tigers, lions, and the like—which all relied on raw muscular power.

But a rhinoceros was a pure, unadulterated tank.

When faced with a creature like this, any animal would have to give it a wide berth.

"Little Dog, step back,"

Ning Fei ordered.

Obediently, Little Dog trotted off to the side.

This time, the pup didn't eagerly ready an attack stance like before.

He might be goofy, but he wasn't stupid.

A rhinoceros was far more terrifying than a hundred warthogs.

Ning Fei remained rooted in place, entirely unfazed.

The rhino's massive bulk barreled straight toward him!

Watching this unfold on the live-stream, every viewer felt their breath hitch.

"What is Temple Master Ning going to do?"

"Is he going to suplex it?!"

"How would he grab it? That horn is thrusting right at him. He can't fight it head-on!"

"Even though I know Temple Master Ning has a way out of this, I'm still nervous."

"Is he really not scared at all?"

That familiar thrill of danger washed over the audience once more.

The viewers stared at their screens, unblinking.

The rhino reached Ning Fei, lowering its single horn as it gathered its strength, clearly intending to gore him with all its might!

Right then, Ning Fei pushed off the ground with a feather-light leap, planted both hands squarely on the rhino's back, and vaulted flawlessly over the beast.

The viewers stared in deadpan exasperation.

"Leapfrog?!"

Everyone was struck speechless.

"It's a terrifying behemoth, and you're just playing leapfrog with it?!"

Ning Fei chuckled lightly as he looked back at the rhino, muttering to himself again, "This big guy has a really solid build."

Having passed right beneath Ning Fei, the rhino skidded to a stop and whipped its head around to glare at him, looking even more enraged than before.

Meanwhile, realizing the rhino was no longer chasing him, the fleeing Mentawai man glanced back in curiosity.

Shock washed over his face as he watched Ning Fei facing off against the behemoth.

"What is that outsider doing?"

"Is he provoking the rhino?!"

"He must be out of his mind!"

Ducking behind a tree, the Mentawai man abandoned his flight, wanting to see what would happen next.

In this region, the rhinoceros was unquestionably the number one beast the Mentawai people refused to provoke.

Yet this outsider stood his ground without a shred of fear—something completely beyond the tribesman's expectations.

Ning Fei still looked completely relaxed.

A tank-type beast might boast thick armor and devastating attack power, but it lacked agility.

Because of that, Ning Fei could handle a rhino with effortless grace.

The viewers kept their eyes glued to the scene.

Ning Fei's Live-stream Room never failed to deliver unimaginable surprises.
