Chapter 761: 761:Old acquaintance

What followed after was a rough few days of cleaning.

Cleaning and clearing the battlefield was a hellish nightmare, especially after the battle had continued for so long and countless corpses had been left behind. The ground was covered in blood, broken weapons and pieces of shattered armor. In some places, the earth had been turned black by the strange energy that had remained after the battle. The smell of death lingered everywhere, and even the soldiers who had seen countless battles had difficulty staying in the area for too long.

The end had truly pushed humanity a step backward. Thankfully, the demons had also suffered a cruel fate, which had led to a great loss of their vitality. Otherwise, this would have been the perfect chance for them to act again and finish things while everyone was exhausted.

With Ethan being the only person present who could use the Law of Light, he was at the front, cleansing the battlefield and clearing out the miasma.

Ethan slowly raised his hand, and a soft golden light gathered around his body. The light soon expanded outward in waves and spread across the battlefield. Wherever it passed, the thick black miasma began to fade. The dark mist that had been clinging to the ground slowly disappeared under the pure light.

The remaining traces of demonic energy resisted at first, twisting violently as if trying to escape the light. Ethan simply continued releasing more power, and the golden waves washed over the area again and again until the dark energy finally vanished.

The soldiers and cultivators behind him then moved forward and started dealing with what remained. Some collected the bodies while others cleared the broken weapons and armor. Others worked on repairing the damaged ground and removing the places where the miasma had gathered the most.

It was slow and exhausting work.

Yet everyone knew it had to be done.

It was another usual day when Ethan was overseeing things. He was standing near a group of soldiers and watching them clear a damaged section of the battlefield when suddenly, his instincts screamed.

Ethan’s expression changed.

He immediately looked around and narrowed his eyes.

"What the..."

He could not understand why his instincts had suddenly reacted like this. There was no obvious danger around him, yet every part of his body was telling him that something was coming.

Before he could figure it out, a loud voice suddenly echoed across the battlefield.

"OHHHHHH MY BOYYY ETHANNNN!"

Ethan’s face twitched.

Following the loud voice, a flash of light suddenly erupted from the sky and something shot toward him at incredible speed.

The soldiers around Ethan immediately looked up in alarm.

Ethan also raised his head.

The voice sounded quite familiar, but he could not immediately remember where he had heard it.

The figure grew closer and closer seeing which Ethan’s eyes widened as the familiar face finally became clear.

"Lord Moreno..."

BANG!

He had not even finished the sentence when the old man landed directly in front of him and immediately grabbed both of Ethan’s arms.

"Ohh myyy!"

Moreno’s eyes widened as he looked Ethan up and down.

"What a marvellous body art and structure."

Ethan stood there stiffly while the old man continued examining his arms with an expression of genuine amazement.

Around them, the soldiers simply stared at the scene in confusion.

Ethan slowly closed his eyes and sighed.

He already had a bad feeling about this.

The old man continued examining Ethan from head to toe. His hands moved from Ethan’s shoulders to his arms as he carefully felt the strength hidden beneath his body. His eyes became brighter with every second, and his expression was filled with genuine amazement.

"Such muscles... Such a strong foundation..."

He gently pressed Ethan’s arm and nodded several times.

"Your body has become even better than before. The structure is nearly perfect, and this physical strength is simply..."

Ethan’s expression slowly became stiff.

Lord Moreno continued looking at him as if he had discovered some rare treasure.

"How did you train this body? Even some of those old monsters would be jealous if they saw this."

Ethan pulled his arm back slightly and gave the old man an awkward look.

"Lord Moreno, you can stop examining me now."

Before Moreno could say anything else, a soft feminine voice suddenly echoed from behind them.

"Grandpa Moreno... Please stop being a pervert. You are scaring Lord Ethan."

Moreno’s body stiffened.He slowly turned his head.

A young woman was standing a short distance away.

She wore a pure white dress that was simple yet elegant. A soft glowing robe was wrapped around her eyes, completely hiding them from view. Even though her eyes could not be seen, her face carried a gentle expression that made her look calm and peaceful.

In her hand was a slender staff engraved with holy symbols. A faint holy light surrounded her body, and her presence felt clean and warm. There was no pressure coming from her, yet the people around her instinctively became quiet.

She was the Saintess of the Church of Light.

Moreno coughed into his fist and immediately stepped aside.

"Ahem... I was merely checking his physique."

Henna gently shook her head.

"That is what you always say, Grandpa Moreno."

Moreno looked away without answering.

Henna then walked toward Ethan. A soft smile appeared on her face as she stopped in front of him.

"It has been long since I have seen you, Lord Ethan. Your appearance doesn’t seem to change much except for that unfathomable aura you carry."

Ethan looked at her softly glowing face. Even though her eyes were hidden, he could still feel the compassion coming from her.

"You too, Saintess Henna. You looked the same since I saw you. I hope you are doing well."

Henna’s smile became slightly warmer.

"I am doing well. It is good to see you again."

Ethan nodded while looking at her for a moment.

After everything that had happened, seeing a familiar face from the past brought a strange sense of calm to him.
