Chapter 762: 762: Mourning

Henna gently tilted her head toward Ethan. Although her eyes remained hidden behind the glowing robe, Ethan could feel her attention resting on him.

"Your power of light has increased again," she said with a faint smile. "It seems to be even stronger than my blessings now."

Ethan immediately shook his head and raised his hand politely.

"Saintess Henna, you are being too generous. My power cannot be compared to your blessings."

Henna smiled softly at his response.

"You are still as humble as before."

"I simply know my limits," Ethan replied with a small smile.

Henna gave a quiet laugh and looked toward the battlefield around them.

"We have been hearing many things about you during these years. Your growth has been quite surprising."

"A lot happened during that time. I also had many people helping me along the way."

"I am glad to hear that. Power is important, but having people you can trust is just as important."

Ethan nodded."That is true. And seeing the Church of Light here also makes things easier. There is still a lot of work to do."

Henna gently tightened her grip around her staff.

"Then let us get to work. The dead deserve to be sent off properly."

"Of course."

Henna then turned around and began walking toward the main group of Church personnel. The priests and paladins immediately followed her, and soon they began preparing the area for the funeral ceremony and cleansing the remaining traces of dark energy.

Moreno remained beside Ethan and watched Henna leave before letting out a sharp breath.

"In such a short time, you have become so strong."

Ethan smiled bitterly when he heard this.

Short time...

The last time they met was damned 30 years ago.

Thirty years was enough for a person to live his entire youth in his other world. Yet when he looked at Moreno, it felt as if they had only separated yesterday.

Ethan quietly sighed.

Haa... Such is life.

He then looked at the old man and smiled.

"You too look as vigorous as ever."

"Of course I am. Recently I even took another two wives."

"....."

Ethan slowly turned his head toward Moreno.

"Another two? How many wives do you have now?"

"89."

Ethan’s eyes widened.

He stared at the old man for several seconds before asking in disbelief.

"Are you aiming for 100?"

"If possible,yes."

Moreno answered proudly without showing even the slightest bit of shame.

Ethan almost faltered when he heard that. ℯℯ𝑙.

’Does this guy have a system or what? I don’t even have 20 wives while he is reaching 100.’

Before Ethan could say anything else, the personnel of the Church quickly began cleaning the battlefield. The work continued throughout the day, and it became a long and tiring process.

They cleared the corpses and collected the remains of the fallen soldiers. The priests cleansed the areas that were still filled with miasma while the paladins helped move the bodies and restore the damaged ground.

This continued for a whole week.

At the end of it, the funeral ceremony was finally held.

A large altar belonging to the Church of Light was placed at the center of the battlefield. Countless people gathered around it, and the atmosphere was solemn. There were no cheers or loud conversations. Everyone understood what this place represented.

Henna stood before the altar with her staff in her hand.

She slowly lowered her head and closed her eyes behind the glowing robe covering them.

A soft light began to gather around her body.

"May the light guide those who have fallen."

Her voice was calm and gentle.

"May their souls find peace after the suffering they endured."

The holy light around her slowly grew stronger as she continued praying for the departed souls. The priests behind her also lowered their heads and joined the prayer.

"May their sacrifices never be forgotten."

"May those who remain find the strength to continue living."

"May the light lead them beyond the darkness and toward eternal peace."

The prayer continued for several minutes.

Everyone around the altar bowed solemnly.

Even the four Emperors bowed their heads.

The war would surely be recorded in history.Just from the rough estimates, the death toll might have been close to three million.

The soldiers, nobles and ordinary people all stood quietly and paid their respects to those who had lost their lives.

Only the Emperors remained standing.

Soon, Henna’s prayer reached its end.

She slowly raised her staff.

The holy symbols engraved on it began to shine.

A powerful ray of pure light suddenly erupted from the altar and shot straight into the sky.

Everyone looked up.

The golden light spread across the heavens and illuminated the entire battlefield for a few moments.

The golden light suddenly exploded in the sky.

BOOOOM!

A massive burst of golden radiance spread across the heavens, turning the entire sky bright for a moment. The light reached farther and farther until it covered the entire battlefield, and even the distant mountains were bathed in its warm glow.

Then something strange happened.

The golden light began to fall.

Thousands of tiny golden drops descended from the sky like rain. They were not ordinary drops of water. Each one carried a pure and gentle life force.

The golden rain touched the ground and immediately disappeared into the soil.

The dry earth slowly began to regain its vitality. Small plants that had been crushed beneath the battlefield began to straighten, and the damaged land slowly recovered under the nourishing energy. Even the places that had been stained by blood and dark energy started showing signs of life again.

The people standing beneath the rain felt the change immediately.

A warm sensation spread through their bodies as the golden drops touched their skin. Their tired muscles relaxed, and the exhaustion that had built up over the past several days slowly disappeared.

Some soldiers closed their eyes and took deep breaths as they felt their bodies becoming lighter.

The wounds that had not completely healed began recovering faster. Their breathing became smoother, and even their tired minds became clear.

"It feels..."

One soldier looked at his hands in surprise.

"My body feels completely refreshed."

Another soldier stretched his arms and stared at them in disbelief.

"The exhaustion is disappearing."

The same thing was happening everywhere.

Those who had spent days working without proper rest felt their strength returning. The golden rain did not simply heal their wounds. It seemed to restore the vitality that had been drained from their bodies.

Ethan stood beneath the golden rain and felt the warm energy flowing through him.

He looked toward the sky as countless golden drops continued falling around him.

The entire battlefield, which had been filled with death and destruction only days ago, was now covered in a peaceful golden glow.
