Chapter 796: 796:The Battle Outside

Outside the barrier, the battle had already turned into a brutal slaughter.

Garran, Lancelot, and Rathlos stood at the front of the battlefield and watched the three family heads fight. The moment Cedric Ambrose, Valen Halcrest, and Dorian Devine stepped outside, several Transcendent Knights of the Alliance moved to surround them.

Cedric did not wait for them to make the first move.

He drew his sword and rushed forward.

CLANG!

His blade collided with the weapon of a Transcendent Knight. Cedric twisted his wrist and forced the man’s sword aside before cutting toward his shoulder. The knight quickly retreated, but Cedric followed and continued pressing him with one sword strike after another.

Another Transcendent Knight moved toward Cedric, but Cedric turned and blocked his attack before sending a sword arc toward him.

SHING!

The attack cut through the air and forced the knight to retreat.

"Two against one?" Garran muttered as he watched.

Lancelot shook his head.

"They are not ordinary Transcendent Knights."

His eyes remained fixed on the battle.

"Those Transcendent Knights were only recently promoted. Their experience is still lacking, and they haven’t fully adapted to their new strength."

Rathlos adjusted his glasses.

"Then they won’t be able to hold them off for long."

"Exactly," Lancelot replied.

Cedric was already proving his point.

Even while fighting two Transcendent Knights alone, he continued pushing them backward. His sword moved smoothly, and every strike forced the two warriors to defend instead of attacking.

One of them tried to create distance and gather mana, but Cedric immediately appeared in front of him.

CLANG!

The knight barely blocked the sword.

Cedric’s eyes narrowed as he pushed harder, and the knight’s feet sank into the ground.

"Ugh!"

Before Cedric could finish the attack, the second knight rushed toward him.

Cedric turned and blocked the incoming sword with his own.

CLANG!

The impact pushed him several steps back.

He looked at the two warriors before gripping his sword more tightly.

"They are inexperienced, but their strength is still troublesome."

Not far away, Dorian was facing another group of Transcendent Knights alone.

Unlike Cedric, he kept his distance and relied completely on his magic.

Several magic circles appeared around him at once.

BOOM!

Flames erupted from one circle while lightning shot from another. Before the enemy could avoid them, the ground beneath his feet suddenly changed and several dark spikes rose toward him.

The Transcendent Knight moved quickly and avoided the attacks, but Dorian had already changed the spell.

A purple magic circle appeared behind him.

A powerful beam shot forward.

BOOOOM!

The knight raised his sword and blocked the attack, but the force still pushed him backward.

Dorian’s expression remained calm as he moved his fingers.

The magic circle changed again.

The beam suddenly turned into several chains that wrapped around the knight’s sword and arm.

The knight’s expression changed as he forcefully broke the chains.

"This magic is troublesome."

Dorian did not answer. He simply raised his hand again.

Another spell appeared.

Rathlos watched carefully.

"Dorian is fighting alone as well."

Lancelot nodded.

"But unlike Cedric, he doesn’t need to get close. He can keep attacking from different angles."

Garran’s gaze moved between the two battles.

"Still, the Transcendent Knights are holding on."

"They are," Lancelot said, "but not because they are stronger."

He paused for a moment.

"They were recently promoted. Their foundations are weaker, and they don’t have the experience needed to properly control their strength. Against someone like Cedric or Dorian, that weakness will become more obvious as the battle continues."

At that moment, Cedric suddenly increased his speed.

SHING!

His sword passed through the defense of one knight and cut across his chest.

Blood splashed across the ground.

The knight staggered backward while the other immediately moved to cover him.

Cedric stepped forward without hesitation.

At the same time, Dorian’s magic circle exploded.

BOOOOOOM!

The Transcendent Knight was thrown several meters away and crashed into the ground.

Dorian lowered his hand and looked at him calmly.

The three family heads were still standing.

Cedric and Dorian were fighting the Transcendent Knights alone, while Valen remained behind them and continued supplying healing, buffs, and energy support.

Lancelot’s expression became slightly heavier.

"If this continues, those newly promoted Transcendent Knights won’t be able to hold them off for much longer."

Garran nodded.

"Then we need to move soon."

Rathlos looked toward the battlefield.

"Before the situation gets worse."

Lancelot looked at the scene with a frown. His eyes moved toward Valen, who was still standing behind Cedric and Dorian while continuously providing them with healing, buffs, and energy support.

"Rathlos, find an opportunity to take down Valen. He might be the key player who could change the status quo."

Rathlos nodded and adjusted his glasses. He understood what Lancelot meant. As long as Valen continued supporting the other two family heads, their advantage would only grow with time.

"I understand."

Rathlos turned around and started moving toward another part of the battlefield, looking for an opportunity to get closer to Valen without being noticed.

Lancelot watched him leave before looking back at the battle. Garran also tightened his grip and prepared to advance. The two were about to move forward and join the fight when they suddenly paused.

Both of them felt it at the same time.

Something was wrong.

A strange commotion came from inside the barrier.

Lancelot’s expression changed as he slowly raised his head. Garran also turned toward the Capital, while the family heads fighting nearby momentarily stopped and looked in the same direction.

The air inside the barrier suddenly began to tremble.

The sky became distorted, and blurry images slowly started forming above the Capital. They were unclear at first, almost like shadows moving behind a thick layer of fog, but the strange sight continued to grow.

A heavy sense of crisis spread across the battlefield.

Even the Transcendent Knights felt it.

Cedric stopped moving and looked toward the sky with a serious expression. Dorian also lowered his hand as the magic circles around him slowly disappeared.

"What is that?" Garran muttered, his eyes narrowing.

Lancelot did not answer.

His face had become tense as he stared at the strange images forming inside the barrier. He could feel a pressure coming from them that made even his instincts warn him of danger.

Rathlos, who had only taken a few steps away, also stopped.

He turned around and looked up.

His eyes widened in horror.

"Now what’s that?" Rathlos gasped in horror.
