Chapter 126: Saving Elena

I gently stroked Elena’s hair as she sobbed silently in my arms.

Eventually, perhaps due to the tender affection I displayed, she gradually calmed down and her sobbing decreased until it became non-existent.

After regaining her composure, Elena’s cheeks gradually became colored pink and she pressed her head against my chest, feeling a little embarrassed.

Having seen me, she completely forgot about everyone else.

Realizing that everyone had seen her in such a vulnerable state, including her daughter, and head of security, she felt embarrassed and mortified.

She felt like burying herself into a hole but knew she ultimately had to face everyone.

I figured what was going through her mind and gently ran my hand through the length of her hair to reassure her.

Elena swallowed. I felt her throat move against my chest, before she finally removed her face from my chest.

Her cheeks were flushed pink, and her expression was colored with a little bit of embarrassment but she tried her best to remain as steadfast as possible.

She turned to her daughter, and a look of curiosity appeared in her eyes as she asked.

"What are you doing here?"

"M... he said he wanted to see you." Lila was about to address me as master when she felt it might seem a little too uncomfortable.

She quickly addressed me and informed her mother of the reason for her appearance.

Elena couldn’t help a smile from forming on her lips upon hearing her daughter’s words.

Yet, it was soon replaced with worry.

Based on what she could recall, I wasn’t an awakened. She had checked in the past without my knowledge.

She was worried about me being endangered if I remained here any longer.

"Let’s head in. Brief me on the situation so far." I said calmly.

Elena stared at me with a look of confusion but still slowly nodded.

She didn’t know why I was asking about the state of her situation, but having someone she trusted, which she could share things with brought a sense of relief to her heart.

"Let’s head in..." she informed the orders and signaled for the head guard to continue protecting the place while her, Lila, Olivia and Sapphire entered into the cosy house.

Inside the house, there were a few animal furs. It seemed styled to match a particular ancient era.

I’d always known about Elena’s aesthetic taste so rather than being surprised by the scene, I was impressed.

The couches were covered in animal fur as well, which gave them a comfortable feel as I sat down.

Elena’s cheeks blushed a little but she still sat close to me and pushed herself against me.

Her lips parted, and then... the briefing began.

Elena proceeded to explain the situation of things to me and the others.

As it turns out, the conflict was beginning to escalate.

She received word from a spy at the corporation that the board of directors had involved the Nasac forces.

Nasac was another company on the same level as hers.

Already weakened to half the strength of her company due to its division, having to face another behemoth like Nasac would just be completely detrimental to Elena.

Elena stated that she was preparing to try to fight it out with them briefly, but if she’s unable to hold on, she would quickly abandon it and leave.

Although the mana mountain was important, it wasn’t worth as much as her life.

She could still find another mana mountain in the future if she was lucky.

The mana mountain, although rare, it wasn’t extinct. At least from being able to discover a few over the years humans could infer that much.

"Are the board of directors present here?" After Elena finished explaining I asked calmly.

Elena nodded slowly.

"Although they’ve interacted with Nasac, I heard they did so in secret. All of them are still present, and constantly interfere with me whenever I plan to excavate the mana mountain site."

Hearing her explanation I nodded slowly, then rubbed my chin in deep thought for a bit.

Finally, I said indifferently, "it’s time we pay them a visit."

The moment I finished speaking I stood up. Olivia quickly stood up after me, followed by Lila.

Only the two ladies had witnessed my true strength to an extent so they believed in my capabilities. But Elena was instantly filled with worry.

"No... Lucien, you cant!" She quickly stopped me, wrapping her hand around my arm as she stood up.

"I’ll gradually deal things out with them. There’s no need to be impulsive."

She smiled, admiring the fact that despite being an unawakened, I still cared enough to want to fight awakened all for her.

"Just let it go, alright?" She said quietly, then lowered her hand and interlocked her fingers with mine, staring into my eyes.

"Mmm..." I mused internally, then shrugged.

"Just watch what happens."

Elena tried to protest a few more times, but Sapphire had already begun leading us towards the direction of the board of directors.

Ahead lay a mountain. It was the mana mountain.

And just opposite it was the board of directors.

They had specifically positioned their headquarters at the precise distance that Elena had, although it was in the opposite direction.

The moment the board of directors sensed people coming out of the location, a few men rushed out of the buildings, in our directions.

More than 5 men, with a few radiating powerful auras emerged from the building.

A man in the lead had a disdainful smile on his face as he stared at Elena.

"Have you come to hand over the rights to the mana mountain?"

Elena glanced at the man in disgust and didn’t reply him in the slightest.

Instead she turned to me, wondering what I planned to do.

Behind us, more than thirty men, armed to the teeth with guns stared intensely at the building.

The head soldier had his hand raised, signalling a cease in fire.

A wave of tension seemed to fill the air. Everyone knew the moment his hand fell down, the soldiers would begin firing, and a war between both parties was imminent.

The board of directors also noticed this sight.

With a light nod of one of the men’s heads, people clad completely in black, ninja like attire appeared on the roof of the building with ghost like movements.

"Are these all the members of the board of directors?" I asked Elena indifferently and her gaze scanned through them, before she nodded slowly.

"Okay..." I lingered for a second or two, then ordered Olivia. "Kill them all."

The moment I gave the order, Olivia vanished, melting into a puddle of shadow as though she had been waiting for the order the entire time.

"Yes master..." a soft whisper escaped her lips moments before she vanished.

A second after she finished, something sharp, and black emerged from behind the head of the first man.

Shick!

The shadow stabbed through the head of the man that had been talking, then dissolved into countless wisps of shadows as the man’s eyes bulged out in shock.

Until the moment of his death, he didn’t understand, nor comprehend how he died.

A bloodshed had begun!
