Chapter 273 - 216: Break Up the Fight? The Thrill of the Fight

"What’re you looking at?" Levi asked, his words muffled as he enjoyed Buji feeding him a large plum.

"Some Knights are dueling," Baisitina said, sitting down next to her Lord. She beckoned, and the little creature circled her once before shyly flying over to land on Levi’s head.

Baisitina was instantly discouraged. The cute, Little Elf-like Magical Beast was adorable, and she had always wanted to befriend it.

But alas, the creature wouldn’t get close to anyone but Levi, which left her feeling rather defeated.

"Brother-in-law, I’m gonna go watch!"

Mier, who loved nothing more than a good spectacle, perked up immediately. He tossed his lousy hand of cards onto the table and dashed out of the room.

"Dammit, Mier! Did you know I was holding two jokers?" Levi was fuming. He was just about to win the hand, and the little brat just up and left.

With a sigh, he threw down his cards, his enthusiasm for the game gone. He slumped back into his chair, enjoying a massage from two Goat-man Maids.

"Should I go get Mier and bring him back?" Baisitina asked, a little worried.

After all, they were new here and didn’t know anyone. She knew her brother better than anyone and feared he might stir up some trouble.

"Let him be. It’s good for him to get out and see the world," Levi said dismissively, waving a hand.

’Young people should get out more, meet some like-minded friends. If Mier can manage to poach a few Knights for High Cliff Castle, that would be a massive gain.’

’After all, these Official Knights are worlds better than any apprentice knight.’

"I think I’ll go with him. Levi, do you want to come?" Baisitina insisted, still uneasy.

"What’s so interesting about a bunch of Knights sparring? This Lord has taken down eight hundred, if not a thousand, in the arena," Levi said with a yawn, completely uninterested.

Zat, who was tidying up the cards, had no intention of going either.

’Why go outside and suffer in the cold when it’s so nice and warm by the fire?’

Of course, the main reason was that if the Lord wasn’t going, then neither was he.

Before long, however, the door was thrown open again.

Si Kai, clad in a suit of exquisite Leather Armor, strode in on a gust of bone-chilling wind.

"Close the door, quick! You’re letting all the warm air out," Levi said without looking up, his attention focused on playing with Buji.

Si Kai, who had entered with his head held high, immediately deflated. He gave a sheepish laugh, closed the door, and then took a seat. His gaze fell upon the two Goat-man Maids, and he said with a hint of envy, "My Lord, you really know how to enjoy life."

"After so many battles, a man deserves to enjoy himself. Besides, in a few months, who knows how long the next war will last," Levi replied. "And anyway, you’re a Knight yourself. It can’t be that hard to find a few Maids."

"Ugh, don’t even get me started," Si Kai said, waving a hand with a gloomy expression.

"She’s just one woman. We’ve faced down blades and spears together, and you’re scared of her?" Levi said with a sneer.

’Now, this is what you call domestic authority. I can get a massage from Goat-man Maids right in front of Tina and it’s no big deal.’

Si Kai clearly didn’t want to dwell on the subject.

"Anyway, how come you have time to visit me? Aren’t you going to mingle with the other nobles? This is a rare opportunity. You might meet some noble’s daughter and find a new love," Levi chatted idly.

"Those old foxes are too calculating. They’ve already sized everyone up and determined their worth down to the last copper. It gives me a headache just being around them." Si Kai poured himself a cup of hot tea, pointedly ignoring his Lord’s last remark.

’Besides, to be honest, he was just a Knight. If he weren’t the Captain of the Duke’s Guard Knight Team, those nobles wouldn’t even spare him a glance.’

"Fulina has arrived, I assume?"

"Mhm, she’s discussing some matters with Fujero. I’m just taking advantage of the free moment to sneak over for a drink."
