Pioneer Lord: I Have Conquering System

Chapter 427 - 292: Lecher (Part 2)

Each use of Dragon Breath consumes energy stored in a unique organ within a Giant Dragon’s body. This energy is not Magic Power, and it recovers extremely slowly.

From his vantage point on the dragon’s back, Levi watched the Demons ebb away from White Bone Fortress like a tide and slowly breathed a sigh of relief.

In truth, White Bone Fortress was a military stronghold; a single breached gate should not have been enough for the Demons to overrun it completely.

However, those Six-armed Snake Demon Warriors were simply too formidable. The rank-and-file soldiers were no match for them, which was why the situation had devolved into a desperate mess so quickly.

Had it been just a horde of Low Tier Demons, they would have been driven out by the responding defenders even if they had managed to charge through the gate.

Levi looked down from the sky and saw that with the Six-armed Snake Demons in retreat, the Low Tier Demons were completely unable to hold White Bone Fortress. Damon’s army was in the process of driving them out.

With the crisis averted, the Silver Dragon soaring through the sky descended toward the ground. The current from her beating wings was like a gale, and it even toppled several old buildings.

The Silver Dragon transformed back into the familiar Silver Dragon Maiden. Her face was ashen, but her eyes held a new, steely resolve that she herself probably hadn’t even noticed.

The two of them walked toward the position High Cliff Castle’s forces were holding.

"Where’s Fujero?" Upon returning and glancing around, Levi noticed Fujero was gone.

He had heard him arrive to provide support but had been too preoccupied to exchange pleasantries.

The Lord was quite moved. After all, not just anyone would dare risk their life to support High Cliff Castle in such a hopeless situation.

No one answered. It was quiet all around, as the men of High Cliff Castle stared at him and Sophia with immense curiosity.

"Brother-in-law, Fujero saw the crisis was averted and hurried back to manage his army," Mier was the first to step forward and reply.

Levi nodded. Seeing the group of burly men staring holes through him gave him goosebumps. With a look of disgust, he said, "Worri, I’m not into dudes. If you have something to ask, hurry up and ask it."

The moment he finished speaking, everyone immediately swarmed him. The Beastman Barbarians and Centaurs used their burly frames to squeeze to the front, leaving the Feder Archers and Jackal Wolfmen to stare anxiously at the big brutes’ asses. Finally, they used their smaller size to squeeze through the gaps.

"Um... Lord, why is Sophia able to turn into a Giant Dragon?" the Zor Elf Heather asked first, a pained and hesitant look on her face.

After all, she had always thought that while the young maiden possessed a Dragon Vein, she was also surprisingly simple-minded. Timid, afraid of trouble, and easy to bully—it was practically stamped on her forehead.

But now, it turned out she was a Giant Dragon, a creature at the top of the food chain.

It was that strange feeling you get when you discover the little sister you’ve always looked after is actually a hidden heiress from a wealthy family.

You’re sad when your buddy’s broke, but you’re also a little salty when he suddenly shows up in a new sports car. It was exactly that kind of feeling.

"It’s just as you see. She is a Giant Dragon, she was just using the Transformation Technique," Levi said with a snap of his fingers.

Though Sophia’s face was pale, she still proudly puffed out her ample chest, wearing a look that clearly said, ’Now you know how incredible I am, right?’

"Remember when I led that expedition to slay a dragon? Sophia is that dragon."

He had told almost everyone he met that Sophia was the Giant Dragon from the rumors, but telling the truth often meant no one believed him. Instead, they thought she was just one of the Dragon Vein Humans, and the rumors were nothing more than propaganda Levi spread to build up his own reputation.

Now that the Giant Dragon was a tangible reality right before them, one they had all seen with their own eyes, there was no longer any need to waste his breath proving it.

"Oh!" came a chorus of sudden understanding. But looking at their expressions, the Lord had a bad feeling.

He subconsciously asked, "Then what did you all think Sophia was before?"

"A Dragon Vein Maiden, sought out specifically under the pretext of ’slaying a dragon,’ whose existence served to satisfy your own ’needs’ and prove that the Lord of High Cliff Castle is a thoroughgoing lecher." Zat recited these words as if chanting, shaking his head. Then he shot a sly look at the crowd. "What else was it you all said back then? I seem to remember something about how a man as strong as the chief should find himself a bunch of wives. That’s what you said, right?"

The crowd of burly men from High Cliff Castle was collectively dumbstruck, frantically waving their hands in denial.

’Damn you, Commander Zat! You’re trying to get us all killed!’

Sophia, standing to the side, blushed crimson. The books on Dragon Island were filled with countless tales of romance between Giant Dragons and humans; she wasn’t completely ignorant on the matter.

Levi was shocked. He never thought this group of burly, seemingly simple-minded men would say something like that. ’Truly, people are more complex than they appear.’ But when he saw the cunning smile on Zat’s lips, he understood that how much of it was true was still up for debate.

"Worri," the Lord said, putting on a mock-righteous face and rolling his eyes. "I’ll have you know I’m a perfect gentleman. I’m still a virgin!"

"I haven’t even married your Chief Steward Tina."

"If you keep ruining my reputation as a pure, virginal young man, I’ll ’treat’ you all to a taste of my fists!"

"BOO!" A chorus of hisses rose from the crowd. Even if they didn’t understand what ’virginal young man’ meant, they all knew their chief was just tooting his own horn again.

The men of High Cliff Castle all curled their lips as if collectively afflicted with smirking sickness.

"BOOM!"

Just then, a world-shaking boom echoed from the horizon. It was followed by a pillar of light that descended from the heavens, plunging down into the Hengduan Mountain Range like a sharp sword under the night sky.

"ROAR!"

A moment later, a rage-filled roar reached them from afar. It rolled like thunder in a storm, crashed like a raging tsunami, and thundered like an avalanche tumbling from a mountain peak.

"What kind of powerful creature is that? Just its roar is enough to make a person tremble," Leiden said, his face losing all color.

If the previous dragon’s roar had been shocking, it had also been tinged with immaturity, paling in comparison.

This new roar, however, was enough to make one’s very soul tremble. It was like the king of all beasts on a mountaintop, roaring at the ants below to declare its sovereignty.

"It seems the battle isn’t over," the Lord said, taking a deep breath. His expression grew calm, and he was no longer in the mood to banter with the Barbarians.

"Leiden, Mier, take the men back to camp. Once you have everything settled, send people to guard the city with Fujero. Everything else can wait until I return."

The battlefield that would decide this war’s outcome wasn’t here. It was at the Teleportation Gate in the Hengduan Mountain Range.

If the Teleportation Gate wasn’t dealt with, this war would never end. And while he didn’t know exactly what was happening over there, based on everything he had seen and experienced here, he knew the situation was dire.

The Lord intended to ride Sophia and see the situation for himself.

It wasn’t that he was being arrogant and biting off more than he could chew. He would assess the situation first. If it was a winnable fight, he would fight. If not, he would see if he could rescue Fatir, then retreat with the High Cliff Castle forces.

After all, when the sky falls, the tallest people hold it up. An invasion of Abyss Demons was no longer Debei’s problem alone, but a catastrophe for the entire Middle Ages Continent.

The Seven Kingdoms and the other racial factions would never just stand by and watch.

Sophia stood silently behind the Lord. After all that had happened, her own mindset had undergone a subtle shift.

’Though she was still terrified, of course.’

"Chief, I’m going with you," Zat stepped forward without hesitation.

Everyone knew their chief was planning to enter the Hengduan Mountain Range alone.

"There’s a Balrog Flame Demon over there. That roar just now, the one that sounded like it could shatter the sky, probably came from it," the Lord said with a dismissive wave. "You’d just be serving yourself up as a free meal."

"It’s just one Balrog Flame Demon. I just slaughtered eight hundred, if not a thousand, Demons. The worst that can happen is death. Even if I become one of the Undead, I’ll still follow you, Chief."

Zat swung his War Axe onto his shoulder and grinned at Levi, his large teeth looking unnaturally white in the dark.
