Pokemon: Master of tactics

Chapter 501: Pokemon master of tactics - 501

The discussion didn't last much longer after that.

Once Alex had finished explaining his thoughts, Drake and Wattson exchanged a few quiet words with the mayor, carefully refining the details of what would be said and, more importantly, what would be left unsaid.

They didn't argue about the overall plan. Instead, they focused on making sure their statements would align perfectly, without contradictions.

Wattson leaned slightly forward and said in a calm, measured tone, "We should keep it straightforward. The raid escalated due to an unusually strong wild Pokémon, we engaged it, pushed it into a disadvantageous position, and ultimately eliminated the threat. No unnecessary details and no mention of anything escaping."

Alex gave a small nod, showing that he understood. he said calmly. "I'll stick to this version.

Wattson smiled faintly. "Good. Let's hope nothing goes wrong."

The mayor, who had remained silent until now, spoke up. "Then I'll have the media invited immediately. They've been waiting outside for a statement anyway."

No one objected to that. Within minutes, staff members left the room to organize everything.

Alex leaned back slightly in his chair, his expression relaxed. He didn't believe the reporters would find out what was wrong with the story.

The mutated Flygon was seen almost exclusively by Wattson, Drake, and the other late elite trainers, so as long as no one said anything, this lie wouldn't be exposed.

Before long, the large doors opened again.

Several reporters entered the assembly hall, accompanied by cameramen and assistants carrying equipment. The previously quiet room quickly filled with the low hum of voices, the soft sounds of cameras being adjusted.

Microphones were set up in front of the speakers, and cameras were directed toward the front of the room.

All attention naturally shifted toward Wattson and Drake.

One of the reporters, a woman in a neat formal outfit, stepped forward and began, "Thank you for giving us the opportunity to ask questions. First, can you confirm whether the Pokémon raid has been fully contained?"

Wattson stood up first, while Drake and Alex remained seated.

He nodded calmly. "Yes, the situation is under control. The raid has ended, and there is currently no immediate threat to the city."

Another reporter followed up without hesitation. "We've received information suggesting that this red level raid was significantly more dangerous than usual. Can you comment on that?"

Wattson answered without pause. "That assessment is correct. This was not a normal red level raid. At least one Pokémon involved exceeded the expected threat level by a bit."

He briefly let his gaze move across the room before continuing, "However, we were able to respond effectively. With the combined efforts of the Alliance and the trainers present, the situation was brought under control."

A third reporter turned toward Drake. "Elite Four member Drake, Were you the trainer who defeated this particularly strong Pokémon??"

Drake gave a short nod. "Yes."

the reporter asked. "Was the Pokémon as dangerous as Wattdon claimed?"

Drake's expression remained calm as he replied, "It was strong, stronger than what you would normally encounter near a city. It was almost a mid-level champion level Pokémon, but it was still within our ability to handle it."

His tone conveyed confidence, which made his statement all the more convincing.

The reporters quickly noted his words before moving on. Another question followed. "Were there casualties?"

This time Wattson answered again, his tone becoming slightly more serious. he said. "Yes, there were losses, however, thanks to the coordinated efforts of everyone involved, the number was kept as low as possible under the special circumstances."

He did not mention any specific numbers. Although the reports asked for an exact number, he replied that he didn't know the exact number yet. When the reporters realized this, they stopped asking the same question.

Instead, their attention gradually shifted toward Alex.

One of them turned in his direction and asked, "You're trainer Alex, right? You were also present during the raid, correct?"

Alex met her gaze calmly and nodded. "Yes, I was."

She asked "You're not an high level official Alliance member and as far as I know, you became an official Alliance member very late. You've been an unregistered Alliance member for almost your entire life, right?"

For a brief moment, the room grew quieter.

Alex looked at the reporter who had asked the "question," and as soon as he noticed the slight smile on her face, he became a little confused.

It wasn't a friendly smile, and He didn't understand why this woman was trying to portray him in such a bad light right from the start.

Although it wasn't unusual for the Alliance to accept a small number of talented unregistered trainers, these trainers were still not fully respected by some people, especially those who preferred clear hierarchies and official status.

Alex replied calmly, "It's no big secret. I've always been open about growing up in an orphanage, so it shouldn't be surprising that I was an unregistered Alliance member."

The reporter's smile didn't disappear. If anything, it became a little sharper. she said. "I also know about your title, 'Master of Tactics,' a name that supposedly reflects your intelligence. But although you seem to be so smart, you apparently didn't use it to come up with a plan that could reduce casualties. Did you really give it your all?"

Alex's expression remained calm, but a hint of coldness appeared in his eyes. He was starting to get annoyed.

She was clearly ignoring the fact that he wasn't the one making decisions during the raid, acting as if he had the authority to control everything.

And even if he had that kind of authority, it wasn't guaranteed that the casualties could have been reduced.

Still, he didn't let any of that show in his tone.

Alex said calmly, "I defended one of the most dangerous areas, and as far as I know, I didn't let a single Pokémon through."

He looked directly at her. "No matter how you put it, I fulfilled my responsibility as a trainer."

Before the reporter could continue, another reporter spoke up, shifting the focus slightly.

"Did you fight the dangerous Pokémon?"

Alex answered without hesitation, "My role was to defend my assigned position and prevent other Pokémon from advancing further. I wasn't directly involved in the main battle, but from what I know…"

He briefly glanced at Drake before continuing,

"The Alliance forces, led by Elite Four member Drake, engaged the Pokémon directly. Through coordinated effort, they forced it into a disadvantageous position and ultimately eliminated the threat."

More questions followed, but nothing fundamentally new was added. The same core points were repeated from slightly different angles, and each time the answers remained consistent.

After several minutes, the mayor stepped forward and signaled the end of the session. "That will be all for now. Thank you for your time."

The reporters began gathering their equipment while continuing to discuss quietly among themselves.

As they left the hall, the noise gradually faded, and the room became quiet again.

Alex leaned back slightly, maintaining his calm expression. 'Who is this woman?'
