Pokémon: My Online Friend Is Cynthia
Chapter 366: Beloved Friend
Chapter 366: Chapter 366: Beloved Friend
Julian called Kai to report that he was safe.
The enthusiastic botanists invited him to stay overnight at before leaving.
The next morning, Gallade also taught the Farfetch’d some techniques during training.
After stuffing a large bundle of leeks into his backpack, Julian finally rode Miraidon back to Veilstone Gym.
These botanists really were too enthusiastic!
When he had time, he should bring Sirfetch’d and Gallade here more often to help train these Farfetch’d.
Eight Farfetch’d working together would be enough to resist ordinary small-time thieves.
After returning to Veilstone Gym, Julian handed the leeks to Kai and told him to put them away.
Hearing Julian say that the leeks were delicious, he was somewhat puzzled.
How delicious could leeks be?
Julian said, "If you don’t believe me, wash a few and taste them."
Kai was half-sceptical. He washed the leeks clean and took a bite.
His eyes immediately filled with tears.
Julian was somewhat confused.
"Kai, was it too spicy?"
Kai shook his head.
"Master, I tasted the flavour of youth! I’m going to let Graveler, Machoke, and Corphish try it too."
"Let them feel youth and begin youthful special training!"
Julian shook his head and let him move freely.
Then he suddenly remembered something.
"Kai, don’t run around Veilstone Gym on your hands!"
Julian did not want to be asked in whispers by uncles and aunties while buying groceries whether his apprentice’s brain had something wrong with it.
A few peaceful days passed like this.
Julian met up with Darius, who had hurried back from the Rowan Laboratory.
Together, they went to the harbour and boarded the ferry heading for Lily of the Valley Island, where the Sinnoh League headquarters was located.
Julian asked, "Dad, how is Primeape’s mastery of Rage Fist?"
Darius laughed.
"He can already use it four times proficiently. Years of training have made Primeape’s soul very resilient. It can withstand the pull of four layers of Rage Fist."
"Once he becomes more familiar with the move, five layers will be easy. Six layers won’t be a problem either. Seven layers are just around the corner!"
Julian shook his head.
"Rage Fist is no small matter. You have to be careful!"
Darius naturally understood. He held the ferry railing and said, "Of course I know. After this Elite Four ranking battle, I’ll stay on Lily of the Valley Island and challenge Victory Road."
"You just wait for my good news!"
The Elite Four ranking battles were a rare grand event. The number of spectators who came to watch was several times higher than at the regional conference.
If the Elite Four allowed it, the League would definitely extend the format to six days and properly empty the tourists’ wallets.
After Julian and Darius got off the ferry, they unexpectedly found Cynthia and Caitlin waiting for them at the harbour.
The tourists who had also come off the ferry were somewhat curious about who could make Cynthia of the Elite Four wait for them.
But of the father and son, one was already past his prime, and the other was not famous enough yet.
Instead, a few female tourists came over to ask Cynthia for an autograph.
Julian was surprised to discover that Caitlin’s Psychic power had actually increased by seventy to eighty percent, and there were no signs of it losing control.
"Cynthia, have you been waiting long?"
Cynthia shook her head.
"No. We only just came over too. Uncle Darius, how are your preparations for pushing for the Elite Four?"
Darius nodded.
"You just sit properly on the Champion’s throne and wait for me to challenge you."
Caitlin giggled.
"You’re planning to defeat all the Elite Four in one go? Uncle, you talk big."
Julian waved his hand.
"Alright, don’t stand here. Let’s go eat first."
Cynthia nodded.
"I reserved a table at the best restaurant on Lily of the Valley Island."
When they arrived at the restaurant, Cynthia and Julian ordered some signature dishes.
After the dishes were served, Julian tasted them, then looked up at Cynthia.
"Don’t you think the flavour of this restaurant’s cooking feels familiar?"
Cynthia also nodded.
"It does have a familiar taste."
Julian beckoned a waiter over.
"Could we meet your head chef?"
The waiter smiled.
"No problem. I’ll invite the head chef over now."
A handsome middle-aged man with dark red hair walked out of the kitchen.
"Is there a problem with my cooking?"
Julian was somewhat surprised.
"Uncle Saiba, it really is you!"
Chef Saiba smiled.
"Hey, Julian. Are you planning to push for the Elite Four?"
Julian patted Darius.
"The one pushing for the Elite Four is my dad."
Chef Saiba looked at Darius.
"Darius, are you really up to it?"
Clearly, the two were old friends.
Both were middle-aged men from Veilstone City with somewhat similar experiences.
Darius clenched his fist.
"Jōichirō, make me a plate of golden egg fried rice."
Chef Saiba nodded.
"Alright. I hope that after eating, your push for the Elite Four goes more smoothly."
After Chef Saiba returned to the kitchen, Darius said somewhat emotionally, "Back then, every time I won a victory, I would bring your mother to Jōichirō’s restaurant to celebrate."
"We’d order golden egg fried rice, celebrate that victory, and pray for the next one."
When the golden egg fried rice was served, Darius gave everyone present a bowl.
"May Cynthia win a great victory. May Julian smoothly inherit the Gym. May I walk through Victory Road. May Caitlin..."
Caitlin glared at Darius.
"Uncle, why did you get stuck when you reached me?"
Julian continued, "May Caitlin become a Psychic master!"
After eating, Darius and Caitlin disappeared somewhere, leaving only Julian and Cynthia wandering along the road.
Julian thought of his online friend.
"Cynthia, I have a friend."
Cynthia narrowed her eyes slightly.
Was he really bringing the "I have a friend" tactic in front of her?
Clumsy Julian!
Julian seemed to sense Cynthia’s emotions and explained, "It really is my friend. A friend I met online when I was young. He’s the captain of the Sinnoh League’s Quicksand Unit."
"A few months ago, he went to carry out a mission, and there has been no news since. I suspect... he may have sacrificed himself, but I don’t have the clearance to learn his information."
Julian clenched his fist.
"I hope that after you become Champion, you can help me investigate his information."
Cynthia’s eyes shifted.
Why did Julian suddenly want to investigate her online identity?
If Julian found out that KingGarchomp was actually her...
If this identity was exposed, it seemed like there would not be much of a problem?
Wait!
The KingGarchomp account seemed useful.
Cynthia said calmly, "If he really sacrificed himself, what do you plan to do?"
Julian narrowed his eyes.
"Of course I’ll avenge him. This is my beloved friend, my best friend!"
Cynthia was fairly satisfied with that answer.
"Once I become Champion, I’ll help you investigate his information."
Julian took out his phone and shared the KingGarchomp account information with Cynthia.
Cynthia nodded.
"I’ll try to help you investigate. As an Elite Four member, I do have some clearance in the League."
Once she went back, Cynthia would use the KingGarchomp account to criticise Julian for playing both sides between Cynthia and Cassia, two great beauties!
If Julian chose Cynthia, she would scold him for abandoning the wife who had shared his hardships and chasing wealth and status.
If Julian chose Cassia, she would scold him for failing to understand what mattered and not following his true heart.
