Chapter 249: Is This Year’s League Conference Full of Legendary Girls? (Membership Extra Chapter)
The video continued playing.
An unknown amount of time passed, and the scene jumped straight to Lumiose City.
The Lumiose Conference Stadium.
The Kalos League Conference had officially begun.
The biggest talking point of this year’s tournament had already been blown completely out of proportion by every major media outlet on the very first day—
"The Three Legendary Girls Gather at the Lumiose Conference!"
The nickname "Legendary Girls" had originally been coined by an anonymous user on a Trainer forum.
It started during the opening ceremony.
As Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde appeared one after another, the spectators’ screams grew louder with each reveal.
Combined with Best Actress Elaria’s already enormous fame, discussion surrounding this year’s Kalos League Conference broke every previous record on the very first day.
Whenever the names Elaria, Ruri, or Bonnie appeared on the screen, the audience erupted into deafening cheers.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the final stage of this year’s Kalos League—the Lumiose Conference!"
The commentator’s voice echoed throughout the entire stadium.
"After six intense elimination rounds, the four Trainers who have finally reached this stage are—"
"From Lumiose City, trainee researcher at Professor Sycamore’s laboratory and Trainer of Zygarde—Bonnie!"
"From Rustboro City in the Hoenn region, heir to Devon Corporation and Trainer of Yveltal—Ruri!"
"From Lumiose City, Minister of the World League Cultural Department, Trainer of Xerneas, and the Hall-of-Fame Best Actress we all know—Elaria!"
As Elaria, Ruri, and Bonnie emerged from the competitors’ tunnel, the cheering throughout the stadium exploded to its absolute peak.
"Lady Elaria!! LADY ELARIA, LOOK OVER HERE!!!"
"Princess Diancie!! Princess Diancie is absolutely perfect today too!!"
"GENERAL MANAGER, YOU CAN DO IT! Every employee at Devon Corporation took half the day off to come cheer for you!"
"Go, Bonnie! Everyone at the laboratory is supporting you too!!"
The screams from the audience were so overwhelming that even the commentator had to pause for several seconds before announcing the final Trainer.
"And our final semifinalist, from Santalune City—Chiba!"
The Trainer named Chiba stood at the entrance to the competitors’ tunnel with an incredibly complicated expression on his face.
To be fair...
He had competed in League Conferences for years, and this was the first time he’d ever reached the semifinals.
He had never been this close to becoming League Champion.
The problem was...
Every single one of his next three potential opponents had a Legendary Pokémon.
Yveltal.
Zygarde.
And Xerneas.
Chiba looked toward Electivire, the partner who had been by his side longer than anyone else.
Electivire looked back at him.
Trainer and Pokémon stared at each other for a long moment.
Then Chiba took a deep breath.
"Electivire."
"Even if we lose, we’re going to lose with dignity!"
[VIP Chat Group]
[Iris]: Legendary Girls!! That’s such a cool nickname! I love it!
[Raihan]: I’m telling you right now, even Leon might not win this year’s Conference.
[Volkner]: Look at it another way. For an ordinary Trainer, just getting the chance to compete on the same stage as Legendary Pokémon is already the peak of their life. If they lose, there’s no shame in it. If they win, they can brag about it forever—though they’re probably not winning.
[Leon]: Three Legendary Pokémon battling in the same tournament... I wonder if I’ll ever get to see something like that with my own eyes.
[Wallace]: That’s easy. Just wait for Asher’s daughters to be born.
[Siebold]: True. Apparently every one of Asher’s daughters comes standard-equipped as a Legendary Girl. It’s honestly ridiculous.
[Wikstrom]: At that point, will Trainers without Legendary Pokémon even be qualified to participate in League Conferences anymore?
[Alder]: Hahaha! Times are changing. That’s a good thing!
[Steven]: Really? At the rate things are going, if Brother Asher has a few more daughters, there might not even be enough Legendary Pokémon in the world to go around for his family.
[Lance]: Hiss...
[Wallace]: That... actually might happen.
[Asher]: Everyone, don’t listen to Steven’s nonsense. I’m just an ordinary, honest man. How could things possibly get that ridiculous?
[Leon]:@Asher, seriously?
[Asher]: Seriously serious!
The video continued playing.
The semifinals ended quickly.
Elaria and Ruri both defeated their respective opponents and successfully advanced to the finals.
The final match didn’t last particularly long either.
It wasn’t because Ruri wasn’t strong.
The problem was simply that Elaria had far too many Legendary Pokémon.
Once Ruri’s Yveltal was defeated, she quickly fell into a disadvantage.
In the end—
She lost the match.
The referee raised his flag.
"All of Trainer Ruri’s Pokémon are unable to battle!"
"Trainer Elaria wins!"
"Therefore, the Champion of this year’s Kalos League Conference is—"
"Elaria of Lumiose City!"
Confetti and glitter rained down from the stadium roof.
Elaria stepped onto the awards podium as thunderous cheers erupted from every corner of the arena.
Diantha emerged from a nearby passage carrying a golden championship trophy.
Today, she wore an elegant dark-purple gown.
Following the ceremony, she handed the trophy to Elaria.
"Congratulations, Elaria."
"Mm! Thank you, Mommy."
Elaria accepted the trophy and happily raised it high above her head.
Once the awards ceremony ended, a referee walked over.
"Under Kalos League regulations, the winner of the League Conference earns the right to challenge the Elite Four!"
"Trainer Elaria—are you ready for the challenges ahead?"
Before Elaria could even answer—
Hoopa floated up from above her head, planted both little hands on its hips, and announced loudly enough for the entire stadium to hear:
"Of course she’s ready!"
"And Elaria isn’t just going to beat the Elite Four!"
"She’s going to defeat Champion Diantha too and become the first ten-year-old Best Actress-turned-Champion in Kalos history!"
Elaria immediately grabbed one of Hoopa’s tiny legs and yanked it back down.
Her face turned bright red.
"Hoopa! When did I ever say anything like that?!"
Diantha watched the scene with a faint smile.
"Elaria, since Hoopa has already declared war on your behalf..."
"Then come challenge me."
Elaria fell silent for a moment.
Then she nodded.
"Mommy, Elaria won’t hold back."
Diantha reached out and ruffled her hair.
"Of course."
"Mommy won’t either."
Three days later.
The main stadium at Kalos League Headquarters.
Every seat in the circular stands was occupied, and even the aisles were packed with spectators.
The Elite Four Challenge had already come to an end.
Every member of the Elite Four had fought with everything they had—
But against Elaria’s Xerneas and Diancie, each of them had ultimately fallen one after another.
And now—
Only the final battle remained.
Elaria stood at one end of the Champion’s battlefield, unconsciously tightening her grip around the Poké Ball in her hand.
Across from her.
Diantha stood in a sharp Trainer outfit, the faintest smile resting on her lips.
Mother and daughter stared at each other from opposite ends of the field.
The entire stadium fell silent.
The referee looked between them.
Once he confirmed that both sides were ready, he raised his flag—
And swung it down.
"The Kalos League Champion Challenge will now begin!"
"Challenger Elaria versus Champion Diantha!"
"Each Trainer will use three Pokémon, and both sides may freely switch Pokémon during the battle!"
"Battle—begin!"
The instant the referee finished speaking—Elaria and Diantha threw their Poké Balls at the exact same time.
