Chapter 250: Mother-Daughter Battle (Membership Extra Chapter)

The video continued playing.

Two Poké Balls traced arcs through the air.

Red light erupted from both at the same time.

Elaria opened with Froslass.

Diantha opened with Gourgeist.

Elaria gave the first command.

"Froslass, Icy Wind!"

Froslass crossed both arms in front of her chest.

A freezing current filled with ice crystals swept straight toward Gourgeist.

"Gourgeist, Shadow Sneak."

Diantha’s voice remained calm and unhurried.

Gourgeist’s shadow suddenly stretched across the ground.

Using the icy mist kicked up by Icy Wind as cover, Gourgeist itself vanished from sight.

The next second—

It burst out of the shadow behind Froslass.

Dark energy condensed into a blade and slashed across Froslass’s back.

The attack was super effective.

Froslass was knocked half a body-length forward.

Elaria frowned.

"Froslass, Ice Shard!"

Froslass swept both arms outward.

Dozens of fist-sized chunks of ice came raining down toward Gourgeist.

"Another Shadow Sneak."

The corners of Diantha’s lips lifted slightly.

Gourgeist’s body became translucent again.

The Ice Shards passed straight through it and smashed into the battlefield with a rapid series of sharp cracks.

Then—

Gourgeist appeared behind Froslass once again.

Another Shadow Sneak landed squarely against her back.

Froslass was blasted away.

She flipped twice through the air before barely managing to steady herself.

Another crack had appeared across her crystalline skirt.

[VIP Chat Group]

[Flint]: Diantha raised that Gourgeist to fight in such an annoying way! Two Shadow Sneaks in a row, both landing cleanly. She’s completely controlling the pace!

[Fantina]: That is precisely the charm of Ghost-type Pokémon. By shifting between the tangible and intangible, they leave their opponents unable to predict where the next attack will come from.

[Volkner]: Froslass is pretty tough too. She’s taken two consecutive super-effective hits and still hasn’t gone down.

Elaria raised Froslass’s Poké Ball.

"Froslass, come back and rest for now."

Red light flashed.

"Please, Gardevoir!"

The pink-haired Gardevoir landed gracefully on the battlefield, her slender body glowing softly beneath the stadium lights.

"Gardevoir, Mystical Fire!"

Elaria raised her hand.

Gardevoir brought both hands together in front of her chest.

Pink-purple flames erupted from her palms and rushed toward Gourgeist.

"Gourgeist, counter with Will-O-Wisp."

Diantha responded calmly.

The flames inside Gourgeist’s pumpkin body suddenly flared.

Several ghostly blue flames shot from its mouth and collided with Mystical Fire in midair.

The two attacks struggled against each other for a moment.

Then—

Mystical Fire overwhelmed Will-O-Wisp.

The remaining flames continued forward and struck Gourgeist head-on.

Gourgeist disappeared into the fire with a low groan.

"Use Trick-or-Treat!"

Diantha’s voice remained steady.

An eerie orange glow spread outward from Gourgeist’s body.

When the light swept across Gardevoir—

Her body stiffened slightly.

Trick-or-Treat had taken effect.

The Ghost type had been forcibly added to Gardevoir’s typing.

"Shadow Sneak!"

Gourgeist’s shadow stretched across the ground once again.

It erupted directly beneath Gardevoir.

Now that Gardevoir had gained the Ghost type, Ghost-type attacks struck her with quadruple effectiveness.

If this attack landed cleanly—the damage would be enormous.

"Teleport!"

Elaria hurriedly gave the command.

Just before Shadow Sneak could connect—

Gardevoir vanished.

She reappeared on the opposite side of the battlefield.

"Mystical Fire! Full power!"

Elaria’s next command followed instantly.

Gardevoir brought both hands together again.

This Mystical Fire was nearly twice as powerful as the previous one.

The flames struck Gourgeist directly.

Gourgeist finally couldn’t endure any longer.

The fire inside its pumpkin body flickered twice—

Then its body slowly fell to the battlefield.

Diantha recalled Gourgeist.

"Good work."

She spoke softly to the Poké Ball.

Then she threw her second.

Red light erupted.

Aurorus landed on the battlefield and raised its head with a deep roar.

"Aurorus, Freeze-Dry!"

There was almost no pause.

Aurorus opened its mouth and fired an ice-blue beam filled with extreme cold straight toward Gardevoir.

"Gardevoir, push it back with Mystical Fire!"

Pink-purple flames collided with the freezing beam in midair.

Steam exploded outward.

White mist instantly covered the entire battlefield.

"Use Ancient Power!"

Diantha’s command came through the fog.

Aurorus slammed both front feet against the ground.

Dozens of rocks glowing with a bronze-colored light tore free from beneath the battlefield and flew toward Gardevoir from every direction.

Gardevoir used psychic power to form a barrier and blocked several of the rocks coming from the front.

But one approaching from the side struck her shoulder.

She let out a muffled cry.

Elaria immediately raised her Poké Ball.

"Gardevoir, come back and rest for a little while!"

Red light flashed.

Gardevoir returned to her Poké Ball.

"Froslass, I’m counting on you!"

Elaria sent Froslass back onto the field.

But this time, she didn’t immediately attack.

"Froslass, Aurora Veil!"

Froslass raised both arms above her head.

A magnificent aurora spread outward from her body, covering the entire battlefield in shimmering light.

The effect of Aurora Veil—

For the next several turns, the damage Froslass received from special attacks would be halved.

The corners of Diantha’s lips lifted slightly.

Aurora Veil was certainly useful.

However, Froslass had already consumed a considerable amount of stamina during her earlier battle against Gourgeist.

In that case—

She simply had to break through with a physical attack.

"Aurorus, Rock Slide!"

Aurorus slammed both front feet against the ground.

Dozens of rocks rose from every corner of the battlefield and came crashing toward Froslass.

"Froslass, dodge!"

Elaria reacted quickly.

Froslass weaved through the rain of rocks.

But Rock Slide covered too large an area.

Several stones still struck her.

Froslass had already taken considerable damage earlier.

After enduring this round of attacks, her stamina was clearly reaching its limit.

She began panting softly.

"Icy Wind!"

Elaria gritted her teeth.

Froslass raised one arm—but because of her injuries, her movements had noticeably slowed.

"Rock Slide. Finish it."

Diantha quietly gave the command.

Aurorus raised its head.

Countless rocks came crashing toward Froslass once again.

They struck her head-on.

This time—

Froslass finally couldn’t hold on any longer.

Her body slowly floated down to the battlefield.

Elaria recalled her.

Then she threw another Poké Ball.

"Gardevoir, I’m counting on you again!"

Gardevoir returned to the field.

Her eyes locked firmly onto Aurorus across from her.

"Use Ancient Power!"

This time, Diantha attacked first.

Aurorus summoned dozens of bronze-glowing rocks and sent them raining down toward Gardevoir.

"Teleport!"

Elaria reacted just as quickly.

Gardevoir vanished.

She reappeared directly behind Aurorus.

"Moonblast!"

A pink sphere of energy struck Aurorus’s back at point-blank range.

Aurorus staggered forward two steps and let out a deep roar.

"Finish it! Mystical Fire!"

Elaria raised her hand.

Gardevoir took a deep breath.

She brought both hands together once more—

And pink-purple flames surged forward.

Aurorus was swallowed head-on by Mystical Fire.

Its enormous body swayed twice within the flames.

Then—

BOOM!

It collapsed onto the battlefield.

Diantha recalled Aurorus.

The corners of her lips curved upward.

"Elaria, you’ve certainly grown a lot."

"But if you want to defeat me..."

"You’ll still have to overcome this first."

She threw her final Poké Ball.

Red light erupted.

Gardevoir landed gracefully on the battlefield, her slender body glowing softly beneath the stadium lights.

The two Gardevoir stared at each other from opposite ends of the field.

One pink.

One green.
