Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator
Chapter 1223: Spirit Medium Furong (2)
“I’m afraid not, one major characteristic of lost souls is that they cannot communicate… Don’t confuse them with the ghosts you see in movies and TV! They’re different!” Furong crossed her hands in front of her chest.
But Ash Ketchum once encountered a girl ghost who could communicate…
He remembered the girl ghost in the No Mark Chapter waiting for her family to return, and there was also a Gastly that had lived for two thousand years who could transform into various humans, and even create Pokémon illusions.
About half an hour later.
“Hmm, it looks like it’s almost complete. Exactly one hundred and eight souls, only one Spiritomb.”
She watched as a Dusclops sent a Ghost Fire into the belly of a Dusknoir, then turned to Baimu and said, the lost souls around her seemed to receive some sort of signal and scattered.
To prevent multiple Spiritombs from causing trouble, Furong had specially borrowed many Dusclops from her grandmother to deal with the souls scattered by the Spiritomb.
The two moved away from the construction site to a wide open area.
Furong took out a string of prayer beads, a crown made of white paper, and a large string of bells from somewhere, saying, “This is my first time sealing a Spiritomb, I can’t guarantee success on the first try, so you have to help me watch the souls and make sure they don’t escape.”
“Alright.”
Baimu looked around at the numerous Dusclops, thinking that he probably wouldn’t need to help.
A head-sized Wedge Stone was placed in the center by Dusknoir.
Furong donned the crown, holding the prayer beads and bell string, she began a mysterious dance around the Wedge Stone, singing an incomprehensible chant.
Spirit Medium…
Baimu watched Furong’s “ritual” with curiosity, feeling at first that it was no different than the rituals from his past life, but he soon sensed an inexplicable power descending.
Hoopa and Gengar were drawn over, watching Furong with amazement, thinking perhaps that in their eyes, Furong must possess a special aura.
He turned his head to look elsewhere and was suddenly startled.
At some point, a large number of white silhouettes, resembling figures of varying heights and shapes, had appeared behind the Dusclops. They had changed from their previous indistinct appearance, and each lost soul’s face was now quite clear.
They were like spectators at a show, quietly watching Furong dance.
Jingle~
Jingle~!
One after another, Ghost Fires flew from Dusknoir’s belly, morphing into various shapes in the air, letting out silent creepy wails, but were compelled to enter the Wedge Stone.
Each time a Ghost Fire entered, the lines on the surface of the Wedge Stone lit up.
Until the one hundred and eighth soul flew in, Furong’s dance came to a halt.
She suddenly looked over at Baimu and shouted, “The seal is complete! Get ready to capture it!”
“Dragapult!”
Baimu stepped forward, with the figure of Dragapult appearing by his side, while the Dreepy siblings were poised and ready in the launch tubes.
The central Wedge Stone shook violently as a strange violet ghost face rushed out, then whirled like a vortex.
“Mee— Ka—”
A voice full of rage echoed throughout the Underground City space.
“Waddles!”
Dragapult didn’t care, its tail swinging to transform into a deep blue stream of light, appearing behind the Spiritomb with a speed it couldn’t react to.
Baimu took the advanced ball handed by Gengar and yelled, “Dragon Arrow!”
Bang! Bang!
With two explosive sounds, the Dreepy siblings shrieked as they flew towards the Spiritomb, engulfed in a deep blue glow, like missiles in fast flight.
Unexpectedly, the Spiritomb seemed to have eyes on the back of its head, suddenly lifting its sinister ghost face like a sunflower with a long stem.
The Dreepy missed as a result.
The Spiritomb turned its ghost face towards Dragapult, letting out an evil giggle, looking quite smug.
Baimu’s mouth twisted into a grin, “Idiot.”
As his words fell.
The Dreepy plummeted, suddenly doing a somersault to adjust their flight posture, swinging back at the Spiritomb’s hind head!
Boom! Boom!
Two clouds of smoke exploded, mixed with the Spiritomb’s wretched cries.
It clearly hadn’t realized the Dreepy were not just simple energy beams; they were tracking missiles with self-awareness that could adjust their direction!
“Shadow Ball!”
Baimu called out again, as dark purple energy gathered in front of Dragapult’s mouth, forming a head-sized energy wave that smashed towards the rolling smoke.
The Spiritomb within the smoke struggled to move, seemingly contemplating escape, but to no avail as Dragapult moved too swiftly. Just as it attempted to pull the Wedge Stone, a Shadow Ball slammed into its face.
Bam!
“Mee Ka!”
The Spiritomb’s scream was exceptionally piercing.
Just as Furong was about to remind him, Baimu had already thrown the advanced ball in his hand, hitting the Wedge Stone with impeccable accuracy.
The Spiritomb was sucked into it, and after a simple shake, the advanced ball settled down, totally ceasing its struggle.
“Captured successfully! Yay!”
Furong laughed, raising her hand to high-five him.
“Yay…” Baimu high-fived her as the Dreepy siblings held up the advanced ball from each side, delivering it to the Trainer’s hand.
Having captured the Spiritomb, as he mentioned earlier, he really had little interest in training this kind of Pokémon, rumored to be born from human souls.
Furong added, “Let it out. Maybe we can learn something about the entrance to the Spirit Realm.”
“Huh? It came from the Spirit Realm?”
Baimu hadn’t expected this conclusion so quickly.
“Of course, hasn’t the Underground City been sealed over the past six months? Just six months ago, the lower mines were still in use, right? How could a Spiritomb have formed in just six months? Had it existed earlier, you would have known before yesterday.”
Furong’s explanation left him silent.
Why did he think the Spiritomb was locally formed?
Because the Illustrated Guide once said Spiritomb was made up of one hundred and eight malevolent souls? There surely are a lot of tainted souls in Pyrite Town…
Baimu opened the Pokeball.
The Spiritomb landed and emerged from the Wedge Stone, looking a bit downcast.
Having been thoroughly beaten by Dragapult and the Dreepy siblings, it took a while to regain its energy.
To console it, Baimu fished out a Poké Block from his pocket and placed it in front of the Spiritomb, “Here you go, you can eat this, right?”
“Mee Ka…”
The Spiritomb sank down to consume it, slightly restoring its condition.
Nearby, Furong teased, “Baimu, you’re so gentle, even though you seemed so against Spiritomb just now.”
“It’s not that I dislike it…”
Baimu wasn’t sure how to explain his preferences.
The Spiritomb immediately perked up, and Furong began to communicate with it. As a natural Spirit Medium, she had the ability to converse directly with Ghost-type Pokémon, needing no spoken words.
After a while.
Furong made a thoughtful expression, “There’s actually something like this.”
“What’s going on?” Baimu eagerly asked.
She replied, “Spiritomb said the entrance to the Spirit Realm is blocked by the ‘Gatekeeper’; it doesn’t know why, but just approaching got its Wedge Stone cracked by the ‘Gatekeeper’, causing it to fall out of the Spirit Realm. The collapse of the Underground City completely shattered its Wedge Stone, scattering its soul.”
Gatekeeper?
Quickly in Baimu’s mind, an image of a gleaming white bathtub flashed—
No, it was the coffin of the Death God turned into a bathtub.
“Ah, the ‘Gatekeeper’ is a Pokémon with a special mission, just like the Death God Coffin you encountered last time. It blocks the entrance to the Spirit Realm, guiding lost souls in and preventing Ghosts and Ghost-type Pokémon from escaping…”
Furong hastily explained, patting the Dusknoir beside her, smiling, “My Dusknoir is also one of the Gatekeepers of God-sending Mountain!”
Then her brows furrowed again, “Ordinarily, Gatekeepers wouldn’t block the way, let alone disregard the Spiritomb being expelled. It looks like something unusual is happening.”
The Pokémon world in the animation is truly fascinating.
Listening to Furong’s account, Baimu marveled at the thought that flashed through his mind.
Aside from all the prehistoric black technologies, even Gatekeepers of the Spirit Realm as seen in fantasy novels exist; speaking of which, could this thing have something to do with Giratina’s Reversed World?
After all, this great entity is also a Ghost Attribute Divine Beast, symbolizing antimatter.
