Chapter 1224: Familiar 'People' of the Spirit Realm

The truth can only be uncovered by digging out the passage.

It’s a pity Hoopa can’t understand the entrance to the Spirit Realm. Otherwise, using its Golden Wheel would be much faster than machine excavation.

As Baimu bowed his head in thought, Spiritomb dragged the Wedge Stone closer with its Soul Body.

“Mika!”

It showed a slightly covetous expression.

Indeed, even an old ghost of a hundred years can’t resist the temptation of Poké Blocks, which are solid gems of tree fruit essence, another great treasure in human history.

Baimu pulled out two Poké Blocks and handed them over. After these days of consumption, his pocket supply was almost depleted.

It’s time to replenish.

Unlike his wandering thoughts, Furong was seriously considering why the Gatekeeper Pokémon was blocking the entrance.

Generally speaking, when a Ghost-type Pokémon becomes a Gatekeeper, guarding the entrance to the Spirit Realm becomes its top priority.

Blocking the gate, a behavior that disrupts its own instincts, is as unfathomable as an Aggron breaking the trees it plants or a Snorlax losing appetite and sleepless. Judging by the number of lost souls piling up, the congestion at the entrance to the Spirit Realm may have lasted for many, many years.

Could grandma know?

Furong thought of her grandmother, who made her a Spirit Medium. Although she was already considered independent, there were still too many unsolved mysteries about the Spirit Realm.

The two returned to the construction site. No second Spiritomb emerged from the ground during their brief absence, and apart from the thundering machines, nothing else happened. The construction team, entering work mode, fully demonstrated the efficiency that rebuilt Pyrite Town over half a year.

After it ends at 8 PM, the tunnel should be fully excavated and the mine’s secondary reinforcement completed by the latest tomorrow afternoon.

If it’s just digging, the efficiency of starting the machines wouldn’t be slower than Steelix.

Shanren, worried, came down with them, seeing the two and the Spiritomb hopping like a rabbit, waved a greeting.

“Has the Spiritomb been caught?”

“Yes, it’s yours now.”

Baimu handed over the high-grade ball belonging to the Spiritomb.

Shanren frowned as he received it, somewhat troubled, “How should I handle it? Send it to N?”

Baimu replied, “Why not just keep it yourself?”

“I don’t have time to train, man. Besides, I only train Psychic Attribute Pokémon. Why don’t you keep it?” Shanren reflexively retorted.

Watching the two bicker, Furong covered her face to stifle a laugh. Feeling his mayoral dignity slipping away, Shanren glared at Baimu and nodded apologetically to Furong before turning to leave.

Spiritomb hesitated, unsure if it should follow.

“Be good and follow him. He’s got more of these.” Baimu bent down and gave it a push, tossing the last two scattered Poké Blocks in his pocket at Spiritomb’s ghostly face.

Spiritomb swallowed the Poké Blocks and bounced off after Shanren, looking quite happy.

Despite the trouble it caused, the Illustrated Guide showed its Energy Level to be only fifty-five, even less than the Giant Steelix before.

Who knows how long this creature has lived to be only fifty-five? How big would a new Level 69 Dragapult be?

The Energy Level of Wild Pokémon is somewhat correlated with their age.

Though the long lifespan of Pokémon typically means little to Trainers, he always pondered the ethical issues.

“You two have such a great relationship, like Mikoli and Da Wu.” Furong said softly.

Baimu nodded somewhat smugly, “Revolutionary camaraderie of like minds, such friendship may not be encountered even once in a lifetime—sorry, I have to excuse myself for a bit. Someone’s waiting for me to teach a class.”

He glanced at his phone time and apologized.

“Baimu, you’re still teaching as well?” Furong showed a very interested expression.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t leave here. If another Spiritomb or some anomaly at the Spirit Realm entrance emerged, her strength would be needed.

With the intensely communicative lost souls, she wouldn’t feel bored.

She also needed to ask her grandmother in Hoenn about the Gatekeeper Pokémon,

“Remember to come after five, five to seven is the Spirit Medium’s witching hour, when all hidden things will manifest. You can pinpoint the Spirit Realm entrance then!” Furong shouted to Baimu as he went to search for Hoopa and Gengar.

——

On the surface.

The elevator slowly came to a stop.

Baimu carried a pouting, displeased Hoopa in one hand, trailing behind him were a content-looking Altered-color Gengar and the Dragapult Siblings.

The complex environment of the Underground City was their perfect hide and seek playground. When Baimu sought them out, they not only didn’t come out but hid in the dark to scare him.

To make the game more exciting, Hoopa even summoned many Wild Pokémon from the mountains with its Light Wheel.

But for most Wild Pokémon, the Underground City symbolized their nightmare, and Hoopa’s action almost terrorized them into a shock response.

Fortunately, the deserted Underground City was relatively enclosed. Gengar sensed something amiss and scattered Poké Blocks widely to calm the Wild Pokémon, averting an unwarranted Wild Pokémon riot.

“Xiaobai, Hoopa knows it was wrong.”

It tilted its head up, trying to act submissive.

Baimu firmly said, “Forget about it, I won’t let you return to the Underground City anymore, or Hoopa, being a mischievous child, play there alone.”

“Xiaobai is so fierce, like Mei Yali.” Hoopa disdainfully pouted.

It knew even if it returned to the Underground City, Gengar and the Dragapult Siblings wouldn’t accompany it. What’s the point of a game without playmates?
