With a fond smile, Kai gently set Misty back on her feet.

"Of course I'm excited! I helped too, you know!"

"That's true." Kai chuckled and patted her head. "You really did help a lot. Your Pokémon performed great. Without your support, this wouldn't have gone nearly as smoothly, well… except for Psyduck."

At the mention of Psyduck, Misty laughed.

"That's not fair! If Psyduck hadn't stalled them, how would we have lasted long enough for Zinnia to make her move?"

She wasn't wrong.

Although Psyduck hadn't dealt much damage, it had endured several waves of attacks from Team Magma, buying them precious time just enough for Zinnia to step in.

Without that delay, Kai might have been forced to Mega Evolve his red Gyarados prematurely. And if that had happened, not only would Zinnia have stayed hidden, but they also would have lost the element of surprise. Whether the outcome would have remained the same was anyone's guess.

Realizing this, Kai laughed heartily, his mood soaring.

"That's why I told Mr. Stone before we set out not to underestimate you. See? Just like I predicted. Alright since you performed so well today, once we're back in the city, I'll get you a present."

"A present?" Misty's eyes sparkled. "What kind?"

"Anything you want!" Kai declared grandly. "As long as it's sold in a store, it's on me today!"

"You're letting me choose? I thought you'd prepared something already!" She grinned. "But hey, a gift is a gift—I'm not complaining!"

The two chatted and laughed for a while before gradually calming down.

Around them, their Pokémon were scattered across the battlefield, enjoying the aftermath of victory. The more energetic ones played together, while the quieter ones rested peacefully on their own.

At that moment, Mega Red Gyarados began to glow faintly. In a brief flash of light, it reverted from its Mega-Evolved form back to normal.

Misty sighed slightly. "It'd be amazing if Mega Evolution could last forever. Then you'd always have that kind of power."

"It's already powerful enough," Kai replied, shaking his head. "If Mega Evolution were permanent, Mega-Evolved Pokémon in Kalos would have become commonplace long ago. And if everyone stood at the same level, what would make it special anymore?"

She nodded, That made sense. If there were no difference in strength, Mega Evolution would lose its meaning.

Kai returned his Pokémon one by one, leaving only Gengar and Charizard at his side. Then he took out the specialized communicator Kennedy had given him and quickly contacted Devon Corporation.

His mission was essentially complete. The rest clean-up and recovery could be handled by professionals.

Although the terrain had been devastated and would take years to recover ecologically, at least Deoxys had been secured. Devon's team could now safely retrieve the meteorite.

You drove off both Team Magma and Team Aqua, repelled Rayquaza with that powerful Gyarados, and captured Deoxys… It was unbelievable!"

The guard was visibly emotional. The sight had shaken him to his core.

He had never imagined that one person could possess so many Legendary Pokémon.

The distant thundering of rotor blades grew louder as the helicopters descended. Powerful gusts of wind rippled across the puddles at their feet.

Kai glanced up at the approaching aircraft, then back at the security team.

"These are some of my… hidden trump cards. I'd prefer if this didn't spread any further. Would you be willing to keep this confidential?"

The guards exchanged looks before nodding firmly.

"Understood, sir. You have our word."
