"Gyarados, use Hurricane!"

Through Gardevoir's telepathy, Kai delivered his first formal command to Mega Red Gyarados.

At once, Mega Gyarados plunged into the lake. As its massive body churned beneath the surface, the water spiraled violently. Drawn by its overwhelming power, a colossal tornado formed at the center of the battlefield.

Dark clouds twisted overhead.

Compared to the Hurricanes unleashed by other Pokémon, this one was vastly larger—thicker, more violent, and far more destructive, just like Mega Gyarados itself.

Wind howled as the vortex tore through the valley.

Rocks were flung skyward. Trees were ripped from the ground. Pokémon were either swept into the spiraling waters or buried beneath debris.

Misty stared in shock before hurriedly raising her upgraded Pokédex toward Mega Gyarados.

The Pokédex chimed:

It propels itself across the water's surface using jets from its body, reaching speeds that exceed the speed of sound. Though its instincts drive it toward destruction, it obeys the Trainer it truly trusts."

Misty exhaled slowly.

Around Mega Gyarados's neck, she spotted the gleaming Mega Stone embedded in a pendant—the source of its transformation.

The tornado absorbed massive quantities of lake water, forming a towering waterspout that roamed unpredictably through the valley.

There was no fighting under such conditions.

Team Aqua and Team Magma suffered the most. Their numbers worked against them—members scattered, vision obscured by sheets of water. Many were swept into the vortex before they could react.

Even Rayquaza and Deoxys were forced apart.

Though they still burned with the will to battle, the raging waters prevented them from closing the distance.

Rayquaza attempted to charge—only to have a Mightyena slam into its face by the gale. A shattered tree trunk followed soon after. When the waterspout drifted toward it again, Rayquaza finally lost patience.

With an enraged roar, it abandoned the fight and shot skyward, disappearing into the clouds.

"Don't go!!"

Zinnia's cry was swallowed by the storm.

From the distant mountaintop, Kai watched calmly.

Rayquaza's appearance had always been incidental. He had never intended to capture two apex Legendaries at once.

His true objective had never changed.

Deoxys.

In fact, driving Rayquaza away had become a deliberate decision. Though harsh for Zinnia, Kai could not afford uncertainty.

Through telepathy, Kai issued rapid commands.

The Legendary birds moved to pin down Deoxys, preventing its escape.

His remaining Pokémon launched a coordinated assault on Team Aqua and Team Magma, forcing them backward.

Already battered and disoriented, the two villainous teams could not withstand the pressure. Within minutes, they were driven to the valley's edge.

Shelly and Flannery each counted what remained—

Barely a dozen people.

Only a few dozen Pokémon.

The rest had been scattered, buried, or lost in the chaos.

They stared at Mega Gyarados in disbelief.

Even without prior knowledge, they could tell it was related to Gyarados. And recalling Kai's roster, the truth became obvious.

They had no strength left.

One thought dominated both their minds:

Leave.

The once-arrogant invaders retreated in disgrace.

And Zinnia who silently walked away, lost in thought after Rayquaza's departure.

"Stay here," Kai told Misty.

Calling Charizard through telepathy, he leapt onto its back and flew toward the center of the battlefield.

The waterspout finally dissipated. The sky cleared.

Kai's Pokémon formed a perimeter but did not interfere.

This final confrontation belonged to Mega Gyarados alone.

Deoxys was unquestionably the strongest opponent he had faced. Even Raikou, Suicune, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Gengar could not defeat it one-on-one.

Only Mega Gyarados with its Water/Dark typing negating Psychic-type attacks could contend with it directly.

Mega Gyarados lunged from the water, jaws wide.

Deoxys attempted to evade but exhaustion slowed it.

Energy barriers formed too late.

With a thunderous splash, Mega Gyarados dragged Deoxys into the lake.

Moments later, Deoxys burst back into the air—

One arm severed.

Its regenerative ability failed to activate.

Its energy reserves were depleted.

Kai's eyes sharpened.

"Gyarados! Don't give it time to recover finish it with Hyper Beam!"

Mega Gyarados gathered power, then unleashed a blazing beam of energy skyward.

Deoxys did not dodge.

Instead, it gathered its remaining strength and fired a Hyper Beam of its own.

The two beams collided midair.

A blinding explosion erupted.

The shockwave flipped Charizard in the air before it regained stability.

When the light faded—

Mega Gyarados crashed back into the water.

Deoxys spiraled downward like a broken kite, smashing through rock before collapsing into the valley.

This was it.

Kai urged Charizard forward, pulling a prepared Ultra Ball from his belt.

He hurled it.

The Ultra Ball struck Deoxys squarely.

Red light engulfed the Mythical Pokémon—

The ball shook violently.

Once.

Twice.

Three times—

Click.

Silence.

A surge of triumph flooded Kai's chest.

After deploying nearly every ace, driving off Team Magma and Team Aqua, forcing Rayquaza's retreat, and unleashing Mega Evolution—

Deoxys was finally his.

The battle was over.
