Pokémon: Starting From Zero as a Legendary Pokémon
Chapter 162: Calyrex’s Unique Ability
Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Calyrex’s Unique Ability
"So, so strong..."
Emma didn’t know much about the world of trainers.
In her understanding, Gym Leaders were already the pinnacle of existence.
"Sora-ge, between Sister Diantha and Champion Leon, who’s stronger?"
"Well..."
Sora thought for a moment before answering,
"Leon is probably stronger."
"After all, he’s devoted all of his energy to Pokémon battles."
"Unlike Diantha, who actually prefers being an actress."
Looking across all the Champions in the Pokémon world, Leon was the only one who dedicated himself entirely to his role.
The others all had their own pursuits.
Lance liked undercover operations.
Steven was either digging up rocks or on his way to dig up rocks.
Wallace was a Contest Master.
Cynthia was a mythology scholar.
Alder was semi-retired.
Diantha loved acting.
Geeta served as League Chairwoman and was constantly busy.
"Still, I think Master is stronger than Leon."
Korrina wasn’t like Emma.
She had enough experience to make her own judgments.
Sora’s strength was unquestionably beyond that of an ordinary Champion.
In Korrina’s eyes, Leon would probably have to send out at least half of his main team just to trade for a single Magearna.
Not to mention Sora also possessed monsters like Ogerpon and Volcanion.
"Though I’ve never fought him..."
Sora answered honestly,
"I have confidence in Ogerpon and the others."
"I knew it!"
Korrina grinned.
She knew her master wouldn’t lose to some Champion Leon.
As long as Sora got serious, he’d definitely beat Leon senseless.
"Alright, enough."
Sora said,
"Talking about things like this in private is fine."
"But don’t go around saying it publicly."
"Got it, Master."
"I’m not that dumb."
Korrina belonged to the type who seemed foolish but was actually quite clever.
In many situations, she was even more perceptive than Emma.
And so, while preparing dinner, Sora chatted casually with the two girls.
Before long, the meal was ready.
He called everyone over to eat.
"Whoooosh~~"
Outside, night had fallen.
The howling wind mixed with snow and ice battered the village, creating an eerie darkness that put considerable psychological pressure on Emma, who had rarely seen such weather.
"Let me explain tomorrow’s plan."
The three sat around the fireplace while Sora began discussing the reason he had come to Freezington.
"This village preserves an ancient legend."
"It is known as the King of Bountiful Harvests."
"The King of Bountiful Harvests?"
The girls looked confused.
Emma’s ignorance was understandable.
But even Korrina had never heard of such a legend.
"How should I put it?"
Sora paused before explaining,
"The reason you’ve never heard of it, Korrina, is largely because of Galar’s royal family."
"The existence of the King of Bountiful Harvests threatened their authority."
"So beginning roughly a thousand years ago, the royal family actively worked to erase records related to it."
As he spoke, Sora stood up and walked over to an old bookshelf in the corner of the cabin.
"Yep, just as I thought."
He pulled out an ancient-looking book covered in dust.
It was obvious that nobody had touched it for a very long time.
"Look."
"This is the story of the King of Bountiful Harvests."
Sora handed the book to Korrina.
The girl dragged over a chair and sat beside Emma so they could read it together.
"The King of Bountiful Harvests was once the ruler of Galar."
"That is where the title of ’King’ originated."
"And according to my research, the King of Bountiful Harvests wasn’t human."
"It was a mysterious Pokémon."
The moment Sora mentioned Pokémon, both girls immediately understood his purpose.
A trainer searching for a rare Pokémon...
The reason hardly needed explaining.
"Master, are you trying to catch it?"
"No."
Sora shook his head.
"To be precise, I want to earn its recognition."
Not it.
He.
Calyrex was not an ordinary Pokémon.
He was a being worthy of being addressed as a god.
"Wooo~~"
After hearing Sora’s explanation, Korrina became extremely excited.
Her fists pumped eagerly.
"Master, please let me help!"
"I’ll do anything!"
Only the strong deserved to possess powerful Pokémon.
That was common sense among trainers.
The reason Sora was willing to bring Korrina and Emma, while avoiding people like Diantha or Cynthia, was precisely because of this.
Though...
Is that ’I’ll do anything’ really meant literally?
Sora silently complained once more about Korrina’s lack of caution.
Smiling, he said,
"We’ll be staying in Freezington for a while."
"At most a month."
"At minimum a week."
"So the first thing we need to do is adapt to the local environment."
Reality wasn’t a video game.
There wouldn’t be a bunch of NPCs standing around waiting to hand out clues.
Finding Calyrex would not be easy.
"Also, based on my research, the King of Bountiful Harvests’ power has declined to an extremely low level."
"I brought you two here because I intend to solve that problem."
"How?"
Emma asked curiously.
She couldn’t imagine how someone as weak as herself could help.
"Prayer."
Sora answered.
"I need both of you to pray alongside me every day."
"Pray?"
"What exactly do you mean?"
"Simply speak his true name."
Sora demonstrated.
He clasped his hands together, closed his eyes, and quietly murmured:
"Calyrex, if you can hear the voice of a sincere believer, please come to Freezington and meet me."
The two girls exchanged looks.
They were skeptical.
Not because the task was difficult.
But because...
Would that actually work?
"Master... are you serious?"
If she didn’t trust Sora so much, Korrina might have thought he’d gone a little crazy.
Could something like this really work?
"Don’t doubt it."
Sora replied seriously.
"Calyrex is different from other Pokémon."
"He possesses the unique ability to absorb faith and grow stronger through it."
"Over the course of a thousand years, the people of Galar have long forgotten Calyrex’s appearance."
"Even his true name has been buried by history."
"Not even the people of Freezington, the village closest to him, know the name Calyrex anymore."
There were two ways to find Calyrex.
The first was simple:
Search for him directly.
Cross mountains.
Scour the wilderness.
Conduct a massive search.
The problem was that doing so would consume an enormous amount of Sora’s time.
The second method...
Was to wait.
Literally wait for the rabbit to come to him.
Let Calyrex come seeking help on his own.
Sora wasn’t worried that Calyrex would refuse to ask for help.
His only concern was whether Calyrex’s condition had deteriorated so badly that he couldn’t even travel freely anymore.
