Summer and Saddie weren’t particularly impressed with their earnings since they were used to making more than that. However, for Julie, it was truly a fortune.
"I can finally pay off my parents’ debt!" Julie exclaimed happily as soon as they received their payments.
Saddie patted her shoulder with a smile. "You did great back there, Julie! And thank you for trying to protect us earlier!"
Julie scratched her cheek awkwardly before replying, "I don’t think I did that well. If Mr. Devereaux hadn’t been there, I... probably would’ve died."
"Just accept the compliment, please," Saddie said with a smile. "I’m sure Summer would tell you the same thing."
Julie finally smiled and answered softly, "Okay. Thank you."
She then lowered her gaze to the rifle she was still holding. "Do you think Miss Beaumont will really be okay?"
"Of course!" Saddie answered without hesitation. "I’m the one who performed the surgery on her, so she’ll definitely be fine!"
Julie was about to say something when she noticed a helicopter descending from the sky right in front of the headquarters. However, before it could even land, a man jumped out and rushed straight through the entrance.
Not long afterward, a black-haired man stepped out of a teleportation portal.
Both men looked worried and annoyed. They didn’t even bother speaking to the receptionist before rushing straight toward the medical ward.
Julie couldn’t help staring at them with her mouth hanging open. She had never expected to encounter so many elite figures in a single day!
Well, she had met some of them back in Zone 41, but this time, Balian was here too.
"Balian, what are you doing here?!" A loud shout suddenly came from the medical ward.
Curious, Julie moved closer and peeked around the corner. What she saw made her eyes widen even further because Archer and Ilya had cornered Balian and pinned him against the wall!
"What you did to me is my debt to settle," Archer said firmly, his golden eyes turning cold as he stared at Balian. "You don’t have to drag my Guide into my problems."
"Balian, did you jam the signal back there?" Ilya demanded, his eyes filled with suspicion. "We should’ve been notified immediately if our Guide’s condition had worsened, so why did we only receive the news after you were already at headquarters?"
Despite having two angry men cornering him, Balian remained surprisingly calm.
"Gentlemen, please. This is a public space, and we shouldn’t cause a sce—"
"Like hell I care about that!" Archer interrupted. "It’s not like I’ve never been in jail before."
Balian let out a helpless sigh before gently pushing the two brothers away from him with a folded handkerchief, carefully avoiding direct contact with their skin.
"Please don’t touch me with your bare hands," he said, looking slightly uncomfortable. "I’ve already had a long day, and I don’t want to spend the next hour disinfecting myself."
Archer’s eye twitched. "Do you want me to punch you?"
Balian frowned. "That would be even worse. Do you have any idea how difficult bloodstains are to remove from clothing?"
Archer looked like he was seconds away from choking Balian, but Ilya quickly pulled him back before he could do anything stupid.
"Please take this matter seriously, Mr. Devereaux," Ilya said with a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. "We won’t take this lightly when it comes to our mate."
"Mate?" Balian raised his eyebrows, looking at Ilya with amusement. "That’s an interesting way to refer to her."
Ilya’s smile widened as he stressed each word. "Because that’s the truth."
Balian glanced between the two brothers. After a few seconds, he finally decided to stop teasing them before things got out of hand.
"You two are overthinking this. Everything is just a coincidence," he said before explaining everything he had already told Saddie.
"As for the signal, I have no idea what happened either." Balian tilted his head slightly, putting on his most innocent expression. However, judging by his tone alone, only someone with the purest heart would actually believe him.
"I’d rather explode than trust a single word you say," Archer replied firmly. He took a step back, but his sharp gaze never left Balian’s face. "If I ever find out that you tried to sabotage us, I swear I’ll—"
"This is a medical ward. Why are you being so noisy?" Summer’s voice cut through the argument before any of them could blow up the entire headquarters.
She stood in the doorway of her room, an IV still attached to the back of her hand. Although she still looked a little pale, her complexion had improved considerably, and she no longer felt as numb as before.
"I can’t even sleep because of you guys," she complained with a tired sigh.
The moment they heard her voice, Ilya and Archer immediately turned around and hurried toward her.
Ilya was the first to reach her, his eyes immediately scanning her from head to toe as if he needed to make sure she was really all right. "How are you feeling now? Are you still dizzy? Does anything hurt?"
Archer stood beside him, looking equally worried. "Why did you get out of bed? You should still be resting."
Summer blinked at them, then glanced down at the IV attached to her hand before looking back at their anxious faces.
"I’m fine, so stop looking at me like I’m about to collapse any second," she said with a helpless sigh. "Can you two just come inside? I don’t want to stand here for too long when there’s a perfectly comfortable bed waiting for me."
Her words left both men momentarily speechless.
Ilya quickly stepped aside to let her return to the room, while Archer immediately reached out to support her arm, afraid that she might stumble if she moved too quickly.
"Careful," Archer reminded her, his voice much gentler than it had been when he was arguing with Balian.
Summer gave him an amused look. "I’m walking, not climbing a mountain."
