Chapter 560: Chapter 558: Mother of God, the one being chased and bitten by a dog is the real Young Master?

Aaron Sinclair smiled at a little girl one of the mothers was holding. "She’s quite cute," he said. ’If I had a little sister, she’d be beautiful.’

With that thought, he looked over at his parents with a hopeful expression. ’I wonder when Mom and Dad will give me a little sister.’

Celeste Grant glanced at her son. "Sweetheart, what’s with that strange look on your face?"

"Hehe, Mom..." Aaron Sinclair sidled up to Celeste Grant and whispered, "When are you and Dad going to give me a little sister? I’m not picky. One or two would be fine."

Celeste Grant couldn’t help but laugh. ’He’s really obsessed with having a little sister.’ Even without his past memories, her son was still fixated on the idea. But his wish for a sister had already come true long ago.

A smile graced Celeste Grant’s face at the thought of her daughter. She reached out and gently patted his forehead. "Just you wait! You’ll definitely have one." ’We’ll see her as soon as we go back. By then, probably only a month or two will have passed in the Upper Realm.’

Hearing his mother’s promise, Aaron Sinclair rubbed his hands together in excitement.

"For real? When I get a little sister, I’ll protect her with everything I have. I won’t let anyone bully my sister, not ever. I’ll make her the happiest little girl in the world."

For the rest of the walk, the number of candied hawthorns on the stick Zephyr was carrying slowly dwindled. They gave a skewer or two to every child they met, with Celeste Grant helping to hand them out. By the time they were ready to head back, only the straw holder was left.

Seeing it was getting late, Celeste Grant and her group prepared to return to the Prince’s Manor. But just as they reached the next fork in the road, they heard a bloodcurdling scream, like a pig being slaughtered.

It was a mix of a dog barking and a person shouting.

"Help! Get away from me, you damn dog!"

"WOOF WOOF... WOOF WOOF..."

"Get lost... AHHHHHHH..."

That voice...

The sound was enough to make Aaron Sinclair stop in his tracks. He turned to look in the direction of the barking. Hearing a dog wasn’t strange, but he was curious about the pained wails accompanying it. Mostly because that voice sounded incredibly familiar.

The sight that greeted him was a complete surprise to Aaron Sinclair. Down the road past the fork, a large black dog was chasing someone. The one being pursued was a boy, his hair a mess and his face filthy. He had just been tripped by the dog and was now tumbling and scrambling on the ground.

He took one look, then raised a hand to rub his eyes.

’Am I seeing things?’

Nearby, the dog barked viciously, letting out an unending stream of "WOOF WOOF...". The boy’s furious shouts could also be heard as he tried to drive the dog away. "Get lost... you dumb mutt! This young master is going to kill you! I’ll roast you and eat you!"

Perhaps it was because of his threats.

The dog only became more relentless.

Aaron Sinclair recognized the boy in a single glance. Wasn’t that Arthur Jacobs, the so-called "true" young master of the General’s Mansion? ’What’s he doing getting chased by a dog out here in the middle of the night, instead of lording his power over everyone back at the General’s Mansion?’

Aaron Sinclair’s former name was Nathan Jacobs. After the "true" young master returned, his name was changed to Arthur Jacobs for the family registry. But Arthur put on a whole act, claiming that the name Nathan Jacobs made him uncomfortable because it reminded him of his time suffering on the outside. And so, he "returned" the name.

’Arthur always acted as if the name Nathan Jacobs was beneath him. Good thing it’s not my name anymore, either. Aaron... Aaron... The name my real parents gave me sounds so much better. It suits me perfectly.’

Right now, Aaron Sinclair just stood there, watching the dog chase and bite Arthur Jacobs. He couldn’t help but let out a cold sneer.

’Serves him right.’

He couldn’t resist gloating.

He let out a whistle, a wicked grin spreading across his face. He deliberately disguised his voice, pitching it high, and shouted, "Well, well... look who it is! Someone’s getting chased by a dog! Isn’t that Arthur Jacobs, the young master the General’s Mansion just got back? Why would a dog be biting him? Don’t tell me it’s karma for all the bad things he’s done."

His shout immediately drew the attention of some curious passersby. They stopped in their tracks to look down the side road. Some even moved closer to watch the spectacle.

"Why’s that dog only going after him? He’s not a thief, is he?"

"Whose kid is that? How’d he end up in such a state? That dog looks vicious."

"I don’t know... He couldn’t actually be that young master the General’s Mansion brought back recently, could he?"

Arthur Jacobs’s expression turned grim, probably because he realized the onlookers were recognizing him. But he couldn’t afford to worry about his pride right now; he frantically tried to scream for help.

"Help meee—"

Before he could get the word out, the dog sank its teeth into his rear end. With a loud RRRIP, the "true" young master’s backside was suddenly on full display for everyone to see.

Aaron Sinclair froze for a second, then couldn’t help but mutter, "Well, I’ll be damned. What a show." ’Why does this feel so satisfying?’

Meanwhile, at the fork in the road, Arthur Jacobs was desperately trying to save himself. He was frantically begging his system for help.

"System... System, quickly get rid of this damn dog."

The system’s voice sounded in his mind.

[Apologies, Host. This matter is outside the system’s jurisdiction. This is the Civil Service Exam System; we do not offer canine-repulsion services. However, the system can offer assistance: you may try shouting "Help!" loudly.]

"You..."

Hearing this, Arthur Jacobs’s face went pale with fury. He felt like he was about to suffocate.

"But I’m only in this mess because I was trying to complete your mission!" ’Isn’t this my system? How can it be so useless? It’s completely worthless when it counts!’

He wouldn’t be getting mauled by a dog if the system hadn’t issued him a mission to crawl through doggy doors 66 times. Everything had been going fine until he crawled through the doggy door in the backyard of the residence of the Minister of the Ministry of Justice. The moment he did, that dog latched onto him and wouldn’t let go.

The instant he’d stuck his head through, he was met with a pair of glowing blue eyes and a dog’s snout. Terrified, he’d scrambled back out, but not before it bit his shoulder. The dog then got his arm and leg.

Just then, the sound of footsteps and the cursing of guards echoed from the distance.

"Quick, over there... the thief is over there."

"Men! Seize him!"

"I’d like to see just who has the gall to steal from our residence. This is unforgivable."

Seeing that its masters had arrived, the dog actually stopped biting Arthur Jacobs, but it continued to growl viciously, threatening him. The message was clear: ’Try to run and I’ll bite you again.’

Soon, Arthur Jacobs was seized by the servants from the residence of the Minister of the Ministry of Justice.

Caught, Arthur Jacobs’s face was a mask of fury.

"Let me go."

"What are you doing?"

Before he could get another word out, he was slapped across the face.

"We finally caught you, you little bastard! Trying to sneak into our residence in the middle of the night—you’re clearly up to no good. What were you after, state secrets? That would be a serious crime."

Hearing this, Arthur Jacobs panicked.

"No, this is a misunderstanding."

"I’m the young master of the General’s Mansion! You can’t arrest me!"
